Hi friends! A quick reminder not to post spoilers for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". The book isn't out in many countries yet, and won't be for another few weeks, so it's incredibly inconsiderate. Also, many of you have been asking when I'll make videos about it. I won't be making videos about it until the movie adaptation is released, as this firstly gives everyone time to buy and read the book, and secondly will allow us to use the secondary canon that is a movie to base ideas off of. Elf Shoes President Snow probably would have tried to kill Katniss in some other way. He wanted her dead and probably would have tried killing her sooner if Plutarch hadn’t pushed for the Quarter Quell idea.

If they had not let the victors in they probably would have had the victors family members, if they have none then there close friends or people that matter to them. Snow new that prim was the only thing that mattered to katniss, and we know peeta has 2 older brothers. But, it would be vary unlikely for snow to call of the games, especially because it would make him seem weak or sympathetic to district people.

i feel like Katniss would never be able to forgive cinna if he did that for her.

The only way I feel someone good switch spots with a tribute would be in the goodbyes after the reaping. The Capitol doesn’t have your DNA yet for a tracker and you’ve only been on tv for a few minutes. At this point, someone who looks similar to you could switch spots with you (although that begs the question of if they wanted to switch places with you why didn’t they just volunteer)

I mean there could be a clone of you. If the Capitol is able to genetically create dogs that are similar to dead tributes, lizard mutts, monkey mitts, EVERY OTHER type of mutt, then I think they can somehow create a replica of someone. It’s worth theorizing if you want to go into it lol🤣

I was thinking when I did the story of Maysliee. Since she was a twin.

I have another hunger games theory: The game makers could be from one of the districts because they wear such basic clothes and that they are very restricted in the game maker room as if they were forced to work like slaves and also the have discipline as they stand up if an important person walks in. And also could a tribute be replaced by someone how would be modelled to look exactly like the original tribute and that previous tribute Would be smuggled back to the districts. You should also do a character spotlight on the gamemakers or Brutus and the other careers from the 3rd quarter quell.

Identical twins have exactly the same DNA, the only difference between them is fingerprints. An example of this is if a person with an identical twin commits a crime and only leaves DNA in the crime scene, the police would never be able to tell which one is guilty

I still feel like by the time the 74th hunger games rolled around tributes during past games either found loopholes within the rules, broke the rules of the games, or redefined the way the games work by the the time the 74th rolled around that made way for rules and situations like dying before the games started

I love your speculative and theoretical videos that are based on the story's actual details! And, I'm wondering, how do you feel about HG fanfictions? And would you ever make them on your channel? Though a slightly different style in content, I could see you doing a well planned summary video on your perceived version of say Wirress' games. That is, a more creatively based video than analytical. Just a suggestion. Thanks for reading :)

I don’t plan on using fanfiction in my videos, due to there being too many contradictions if you start looking into them (one fanfiction will contradict another etc)

You got me thinking... WHAT IF TWO PEOPLE ENTER ONE TUBE LIKE CINNA AND KATNISS.

0:09 "They're either going to die or..." My brain: "...or live long enough to see themselves become the villain."

If there's one person I would replace if I had the power, it'd be Rue. Why should a sweet, innocent little girl be forced to participate in gladiatorial combat for the entertainment of some sick minded people? Rue didn't deserve to die. That's why Katniss defied the Capitol by honoring her death. And why even the hulking giant Thresh spared Katniss because of that. I'd just replace Rue with a career tribute from district 1 or 2. After all, winning these sick games is a great honor in those districts. And they volunteer a lot especially for the 12 year olds in their districts, right? So some of them should have no problem taking the place of a tribute from an outlying district. Cuz an extra boy/girl from 1 and 2 is extra firepower for the career pack (which is scary), and an extra leg to win if both the other tributes from their district fall

The only way to trick the gamemakers into thinking you are the tribute you replaced is to be an identical twin. Your DNA would be exactly the same as your fellow twin.

I would always like to think if there was a 4th quarter quell they would have 1 of my 3 of my theories. 1) One-half of the games are with 24 girls and the second half with 24 boys kinda like the 2nd quarter quell 2) District 1,2, and 4 in the books, are not allowed to volunteer 3) Like my first theory one-half would be with 24, 12-year-olds and the second-half with all 18-year-olds

To demonstrate that not even the young can repent for the mistakes of their ancestors, this fourth quarter quell will hold 42 tributes. 12 children of ages twelve and eighteen will be in this hunger games, to show how the rebellion of their ancestors injures and kills even them.

I had an idea from rewatching catching fire, Is it possible the Capitol keeps tabs on all children in the district's, and therefore rig the reapings? Remember, the Hunger Games are the most important event for the Capitol, and with their technology it isn't so far fetched that every one is being watched in some way. My reasoning is President snow very clearly saw Katniss kiss Gale, so we know the already very small district of 12 is bugged full with cameras. Plutarch and Snow know about the black markets so they aren't deceived from illegal activity, just uninterested in cutting off a large source of food and provisions in an already struggling district at the point. They do after all need mine workers and future tributes. Also, Peeta burning the bread for Katniss could have been noticed since they were both almost of age to be reaped, and what are the slim odds Primm gets selected with 1 ballot? Someone who noticed Katniss, a huntress and survivor, knows she is perfect for the hunger games and will very possibly volunteer. Just maybe someone in a high place, say head game maker Seneca Crane, would consider who is most attractive and entertaining for the event. After all, Seneca has an odd tendency for mercy, perhaps he knew he would stoke the fire for the rebellion as Katniss. What do you think of my theory?

Identical twins. Since they're from the same embryo, it's likely they'd have very similar if not, almost exactly the same, which could trick the system

What if there was a $uicidal twin who was kept secret but entered the reaping as their twin each year so technically they are being replaced. The original twin could then be revealed as the twin in the arena, the parents saying that they were 'lost' at birth and therfore that twin living but as their d3ad twin in the arena.

imagine if someone pushed their stylist in the tube before the tube was sealed and stabbed the tracker out of their arm.

Wait. That’s really cool that they will stop your period in the arena. Like the capital is real messed up but that’s considerate (but like it was probably because nobody wants to see their best girl have cramps in the arena. It’s not fair)

I feel bad for the crippled boy from district 10. He had no chance.

Doing this would be extremely stupid and super not worth it. Even assuming you got away with it, the Capitol would immediately go on a manhunt for the missing tribute and likely hold their family hostage. Plus, the person who replaced the tribute would probably have their family be punished harshly as well, and I doubt they would make it off the platform. The Gamemakers could just trigger the landmine and say "well that's what happens when someone who isn't the right tribute sneaks into the games".

also, in the Quarter quell the tributes are reaped out of victors but what if there aren’t any victors of one gender in one district. Like if Katniss had died In the 74th hunger games there would have been no female victor for district 12. This might be explained in the books and I never read them.

The only possible way I see it could be done would be replacing the DNA samples in the system and registering the name and appearance under the new person. That way when they put the tracker in, it gets approved. The only one that would be able to make the change temporarily (at least until the game starts) without being noticed would be the Game Maker himself (if he even has access to the tribute’s info) or someone who works on that IT area. Otherwise, every attempt would be futile because the system would register the discrepancy in the samples and the new person.

If a tribute had an identicle twin then I think it could work. Identicle twins have identicle DNA. They could easily switch in the goodbye room. As for why didn't they volunteer in the first place it might be because they didn't want the publicity.

Identical twins don’t have identical DNA. They have similar DNA but it’s not the same. They also have different fingerprints.

What if a woman gave birth to identical twins. Twin A gets reaped as a tribute, Twin B goes to the games instead. The DNA of identical twins would be the same so no-one would know there was a switch. Twin B wins the games and they share the life of a Victor, each being a Mentor on alternate years. Okay, I know that was ridiculous lol, but in theory, twins could swap places.

@Yash Identical twin DNA is the same. Identical twins come from the same fertilised egg that splits in two so those twins share their DNA code with each other, same sperm and egg from their father and mother. Fraternal twins are formed from two different sperm and two different eggs. That's why Fraternal twins can be different genders. I did specify in my post that I meant identical twins. Although identical twins would have different fingerprints. They would have very similar prints, but not identical. During the reaping though, they didn't seem to be using fingerprints.

The only way I see it to preplace a tribute wuld be an identical twin. Same DNA

but what if you have an identical twin like the girl tribute that participated at the 50th Hunger Games, your DNA will be the same and your appearance too.You would want to protect your siblings like Katniss did with Prim. Just a thought... love you 🤍

Can you do a video on why Plutarch or Haymitch didn't plan an escape plan for Cinna as well? They know Katniss would have wanted that. Or maybe they did? But was supposed to happen after he sent Katniss off to the Games again to which he then was beat to death

I was thinking that it could be possible to replace them even before that. For instance, during the Reaping. I know that they can volunteer, but surely if someone really cares for a tribute who has already volunteered (eg, Katniss) then (oh damn, I forgot her name, the one who reads out all of the names, I forgot) I’m sure she wouldn’t object. In Catching Fire, when she read out Katniss’ name, you could tell that she didn’t want to, so it could be possible that she would let someone swap places with the tribute if they had already volunteered for someone else. Just a suggestion! What do you think?

That's technically true, but if the child hasn't been reaped (ie was volunteered for), they weren't a tribute yet

I’m sure tributes can be replaced quite closely to their entry of the games, with the exception of the tracker situation... but Haymitch does make a comment about replacing tributes in the event someone dies before the games begin in the first book when Katniss freaks out about being executed for firing an arrow at the gamemakers.

There Is a way for the switch to work. You would need an identical twin.

What if a tribute tried to get out of the arena ? Not just through the force field, but back through the tubes or digging to the rooms below, or something since there must be some rooms and tunnels for the preparation area. I don't know if that makes any sense, it's just a thought I had.

couldnt you just like swap them when you go to say goodbye to them after the reaping in private because you may have a twin or sister that looks like you from a distance as the cameras at the reaping record from a tower.

I think if the replacement was from a distrect, the capital wouldn’t care because to them a tribute is a tribute. As long as they still kill or be killed why should the capital care who it is?

There may be an issue with the district showing up the Capitol. The Capitol are very proud and want to show they are always in control, so a switch-up would show the whole country that you can trick and play the Capitol

The black tar like goop is explained quite well in the book, so I'm not too sure what more there is to say about it, but I'll have a look and see what I find!

What if a twin sibling was swamped in as the tribute

I'd I were to replace a tribute I would build a time machine (because panem has all that fancy tech who knows what could happen) and then stop the hunger games before it begins. I know this one is a stretch as it's not me replacing a tribute but it's still stopping them from going into the games.

What if multiple people share the same first and last names and that name was reaped?

What if a tribute fainted from fear in the tube?

Someone could do what happened in Catching Fire, where the other person in the room rips out the tracker. Then, the tracker could be thrown into the tube, the tribute gets medical help to properly heal I'm their own district, but has to be hidden from the Capitol so they don't know what happened. It could be possible. I... Think?

That seems very unlikely to happen. The tribute would not be able to leave the preparation room without being seen by peacekeepers, and as soon as the pedestals are lifted the Gamemakers would know the tribute is trying to escape

I have an idea what if when the name of the child is called out in the reaping another child could come up and I know that's basically volunteering but u would still go under the other persons name I don't know how this could help u and also again they have the name and the DNA matched to the name so they could tell that the person who came up is not the person they called out but this might sound a little dumb but I just had a thought and wanted to share it

I think it's about the looks; every tribute has to be at least "clean" as in no body hair, no obvious flaws (except injuries of course), so the citizens can actually "enjoy" the games and don't have to "worry" about their fave tribute looking a little less perfect (obviously the injuries excluded, but they are accepted by the capitol, since they make the person appear "stronger"). At least, that's what I think.
