Like a previous comment said: The Capitol is so creepy. They have a massive sense of entitlement, a bit like some high up people in this world. Poor Annie Cresta. It must take some serious engineer/ total murderer to create a flood pod. I agree with you in a sense that they have labs underground. Or if there are bits like mountains in arenas, the Gamemakers might work inside the mountains and release the mutts directly in the arena.

@@marcelooo2930 I honestly don't think that they lost control. Based on the previous games (50th Hunger Games) the Capitol is known for erasing every mistake that they make. It is likely that, if they had lost THAT MUCH control of an arena, any trace of it would have been wiped. It's still likely that Katniss would know what happened and Annie Cresta's name, but to know what happened to her after? I think the Capitol would have erased every record of the 70th Hunger Games.

Spoilers ahead! In Catching Fire when Katniss talks to Plutarch in the Capitol during the Victory Tour and he says, "Well, they've been in the works for years, of course. Arenas aren't built in a day. But the, shall we say, flavor of the Games is being determined now.", so the arenas might have been built years before the Hunger Games they were made for happens. I also think that the mutts are prepared beforehand somewhere in the Capitol and then brought to the games because in the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes we see that different mutts and avoxes are being experimented on and mutated.

Sorry in advance this might sound a bit graphic but what if the capitol made each mutt after collecting each tribute’s dead body (like taking their eyes and dna)? Or if they did make them all in advance then how would they get the tributes’ eyes and genes/dna?

Yes our state district 10 /12 hosted the 74th hunger games

6:42 i feel like there could also be multiple different types of mutts in a lab underground, not just the wolf mutts (they would design them so all the mutts would be appropriate for the arena but depending on the situation, they would pick that mutt) so when Seneca Crane said that, he was saying that 'yes, that is a good option for the finale/right now'

Taco Man no because they have to get things like poisonus water or track jackers which are genetically enginered. Its also not always a forest and alot of times a desert or other biomes. they also have to use pods which trigger things and those are hard to make. One more fact is that as we see in the 74th hunger games, they have to be able to make fire appear or mutts.

Yeah also not every arena is a forest one was an icy wasteland, and then that could literally only be near district 7 as, District 7 is also in lower Alberta (Canada) and I think Distirct 10 Is also in Upper Mexico

In Catching Fire, Katniss mentioned seeing all the envelopes in the box with the Quarter Quell cards and realizing that the Capitol had prepared for centuries of Hunger Games. Since arenas were preserved, I wonder what would have happened if they had run out of space for more arenas.

like the system itself is an unstable and idiotic system that just hurts human beings and the environment. kinda just like capitalism lmao.

How i always like thinking of it is there's like 10 shells each year like the 74th games they used a shell from like 5 years and built the arena to how they wanted it to be and look like. After the 74th games they would clear the arena and start the creation process over. I think this due to the fact the game makers have complete control of the whole arena so if they just build a shell over an area I don't know how well the would have control like the movies have showed us.

Am I the only one that thought that Seneca Crane had a pony tail and just realized that he doesn’t 😳😂

I had a thought that perhaps the arena was large enough that it would be changed out every TWO years to allow for mountains, and that the force field blocks one part of the arena from another? That way also they would have extra time to construct the following year's games. Also, Effie said it was "very special" and "The Capitol spared no expense", so I'm wondering if there's a separate site just for the Quarter Quells? Unlikely because the rebels knew where to get them when they rescued Katniss, but still a possibility.

I think they plan out every arena as the actual Hunger Games are in progress. So then after the Hunger Games, when the victor is going on tour, they build the new arena. Bc the arena would probably take a lot of planning and building if they’re gonna add moving parts

@@Salem-dl6rc from the start? well I actually dont know whats in the bag in itself, but well there was the knife that clove threw, which katniss blocks with her bag (which she wouldnt have in this timeline) so she probably dies there-assuming she misses, now she doesnt have a knife to kill Glimmer using the tracker jackers, so she never gets a bow and probably dies with the career pack alongside peeta

I think, like the Olympics, they have areas and construction company bidding years in advance for each arena. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have arenas built and ready to go yeaaarrrsss in advance, this way they don’t have to worry about building one in 11 months. They have time. The clock arena was probably built years before it was going to be used and then the year before it goes into use, they go I. And prep the final details and run test after test to make sure everything is working properly.

I think some arenas have more time spent on them. The 75th hunger games, for example was super in depth, yet the actual arena itself seems to be smaller than the 74th. Maybe because of the clock feature and the spinning cornucopia they had difficulty making the arena much larger.

I think one of the main reasons for why they wanted the 75th's arena to be smaller was to make the tributes fight each other more, all to give the Capitol more of a show

Another thing is that there is a basement under all arenas including the lake. Well a small basement, in which the tributes enter. Try building 24 elevators in the middle of a lake that go underneath

It's possible that arena are built years in advance. Like the Olympics they build one while another is being used

I think there's a whole functioning city/control area under the arenas. I also think the arenas are being built for long term occupation for the Capitol citizens in case of ecological disaster. I think the arenas are pretty close to each other, too, so maybe that one underground city can control most, if not all of them.

I can't remember when, bit I'm certain that said the arenas are years in the making, so they would have many arenas being built simultaneously

The arena is probably built on a mechanical base. If it was on a mechanical base then they could make any tree fall over, make it flood by water vats underneath, etc. I recon that the mechanical base was already pre-built. During a Hunger Games the next arena would've started being built because it wouldn't affect the currant Games then they fully finish it and connect everything up with the Gamemaker Control Room.

More ideas: What if Peeta dies in the career attack? What if Glimmer’s arrow actually hit Katniss on the first day? What if Cato has been there to stop Thresh from killing Clove? What if Katniss hit Cato in the head with the arrow and he fell with Peeta?

i think i maybe would take more than 11 months (they could be building multiple aver the years) hence the first (real) arena was the 7th hunger games meaning 7 games could be being built at once?

I have a theory. In ballad of snakes and songbirds, snows father said something along the lines of the only reason the district ms drink water is because it doesn’t rain blood or something like that. That might explain the blood rain

They could make then like 4 years in advance like Olympics are and have several arenas being built at once, this could also mean there are unused arenas that where planned for the 76, 78, 79 and maybe plans for the 80th Hunger Games

I also think the Capital test the arenas by putting 24 Avoxs in the arena. The Victor gets nothing most likely, but they still test it so they can see if the arena is any good.

They could have been prepared before hand, they knew what all the tributes looked like. Then they only release the mutts that resemble the tributes who had died

The underground space kind of reminds me of the NFL football fields and the like locker rooms

I'm pretty sure in Annie Cresta's games the dam breaking wasn't controlled by the gamemakers, they lost control. That then caused the tsunami. I have no idea if this is true it's just what I thought.

I suspect that the shell and underneath is the same location. They just move the arena out or in like a smaller plate on top of a bigger plate.

Think of how the maze was built in the maze runner, they found a natural cavern to build the maze, my idea is that the game makers either use some massive cave of some valley put a roof and walls around in while have the mountains be a natural barrier that part of the arena

I have a theory that the out dated Capitol arena is actually Enpower field in Denver, Colorado where the NFL’s Den ver Bronco’s play. The capital is in the Rockies and Denver is the largest city in that region of The U.S. and by the time Panem was founded the Current Bronco’s stadium would be out dated.

In annie cresta's game it was an earthquake that broke a dam as katniss and joana talked about in catching fire

Hmm good question, would make sense that they can build it that quick because it’s several hundred years from now

in the the film during the 74th Hunger Games when Katniss is running during the forest fire several trees shoot up from the ground to prevent her running in a certain direction, my guess is that they are pods that contain artificial trees and not real ones

Only in a book like the Hunger Games could you talk about a machine that literally shoot Fireballs at to you, a small distraction

also in the books, the dog mutts were actually the fallen tributes, somehow genetically manipulated to be dogs. they had the eyes, their fur was the color of the person hair, so that had to have heen done in hrs, to grow a full grown mutt. they have some crazy tech the author jever gets into.

in the first movie they scan in some mutt dogs from the control centre like a 3d printer. i think that the shell of the arena i has the a similar wiring to a 3d printer and they prepair the features then scan them in like the mutts

maybe they could do one day for the tourist attractions just one day and after that day the bulldoze the arena and make a new one for the next hunger games in the exact same spot

The arenas are big enough to have oxygen, also the plants within would create more, some tributes use the plants for food. So they can't all be fake, only a few could be fake.
