If you do this in chapter 2 you will get more interactions mentioning your absence from camp. I think this is because Rockstar expected you to explore the map as soon as you were free to roam.

If they didn't abandon the game they could have done a Skyrim thing. Add mods as we go.

If you were just a tad further in the story, they send someone like Bill or Javier (I always get Charles or Javier) to come get you. Also, a random encounter (optional) will pop up for saving Bill from bounty hunters. If you were just a little further in the story, they act accordingly to how long you are away. Example: my first playthrough, I forgot I had stuff to do in canp and was away for a few weeks, but it was in like chapter 4-5 and Charles came and told me everyone missed me basically. Then, when I returned to camp, everyone acted as if I really had been gone for weeks. Especially Dutch lol, his reaction is that of someone who found their lost kitten. Anyway, you probably knew all of this, just thought I'd give a comment, and I respect the dedication it took to make this :)

I'm actually replaying the game right now and I got the Save Bill quest in Chapter 2, so that at least can just happen whenever! I didn't finish my first playthrough years ago so I don't remember these little details for the most part. It's really neat- was surprised to see Javier on the road.

Fun fact if you leave the gang for long enough and are on land without being near a town dutch will send someone to find you

I left on a hunting trip for like an in game week and I went down the road passing that one abandoned town in the bayou, and my horse started acting weird and I saw something coming down the road towards me on my left so I prepared myself to fight the night folk 😭😭. It turns out it was Javier telling me that Dutch was worried about me and asked if I wanted to come back to camp with him or stay. Keep in mind i was in chapter 4 so idk if he would spawn in the same spot if you were in a different chapter.

I lost 2 animals with 3 stars which I needed for the trapper, due to this event popping up twice on a loooong hunting trip. Was very annoying but a fun feature

There’s a very rare encounter with either Bill, Javier and I think John, that comes to look after you after you’re gone for a long while and asks if you wanna ride back to camp, I’ve had it happen twice in 4 years of playing😂 (bad English sorry I’m French wah)

It's not rare if you frequently stay away from camp for long stretches in time. I've had it happen like 3 times in my game so far since I spent long days hunting and exploring. It just happens when you spend like a week away from camp so it's just rare in the sense that most people don't stay away that long

Crazy to think Arthur didn't even have 1,000 days left when you start the game

I won't forget the time i completed the mission where the gang moved to horseshoe overlook, i decided to ignore the story and just explore the world then came across an appaloosa somewhere near wapiti, i tried taming it then out of nowhere Javier spooked the horse and told me that Bill was captured by bounty hunters, so i saved him then went back to camp and dutch told me that i need to get up and do some work, i started antagonizing him ever since 😂

I've always wondered how Arthur can get up exactly on the dot of what time you want. Like what if he accidentally sleeps 19 hours?

Yep they mostly don't care. If you're lucky you might get a dialogue with Dutch where he asks you where have you been in all that time and if you found anything interesting. But that's it, for the rest they act like they just saw you a couple of days before at most even if you stay away weeks

“Time” progresses for the NPCs only when you progress in story. If you don’t do any missions, he camp and the gang will stay the exact same :)

Maybe it depends at what point you take off, but I often went off playing in the woods and had camp-members spawn "looking for me." It can be ignored, but there was a system there to remind you that there's a main storyline to get back to.

Did you check the ledger? Because who knows, John or someone might have supplied the camp with endless squirrel carcasses and the the rest of them were living the good life! Apparently.

As soon as I heard him say “I’m gonna do all the challenges” I said to myself, Good luck with gambler challenges 💀

I've tried the same thing but within a week in game time Kearn came looking for me and told me that dutch sent him because he thought Arthur died

Once, I left for months of in game time by accident (I mean it was unintended) and Charles came for me saying that I had been gone for a long time and Dutch was worried. Only happened once, it was in a phase where I spent most of my time off trails too so maybe it does not require a staying away for a long time to be triggered. I remember that it was the first time in a while that I had travelled on a road for more than 10 seconds. I point that out because I know that some events can only be triggered if you are on a road like gang ambushes and stuff.

Weird. There are quite a few reactions if you're gone for too long. And they do send people to check on you. Maybe that point in the story is getting in the way of that.

They definately care about arthur, if you are away from camp for few days, Dutch will send bill, javier or Charles to look for you

Need to do it until 1911 or 1914 and test the theory that Arthur's presence is somehow causing all the trouble. Maybe with Arthur not there you can get all the way to present day with nobody else dying.

as John , Charles left black water and came all the way far north where I was hunting and asked me when I was coming home and even had a option to ride back with him.

@@MrPiano-is4du It's actually more like 8.5 days. As if someone who regularly puts out 3 videos a week average is going to spend 8.5 days on 1 video. Also, he would have to put Arthur to sleep every 12.5 minutes during those 8.5 days. It's not just a matter of turning on the computer & leaving it.

@@MrPiano-is4du I take it you either lack all common sense... or are such a fanboy of his, that you have your head way up his butt so far, you can't think straight... or you are him, using a different account. This challenge would be absolutely beyond boring. Having to maneuver Arthur to get sleep many hundreds of times over, while keeping track of time to put him to sleep, at specific set intervals. I really don't think you understand how extremely tedious & boring that would be. It doesn't matter if he has a life or not. What human doesn't sleep for 8.5 days straight? Even if he could somehow fall asleep in between those 12.5 minutes & kept waking up, it would still result in fatigue & he would eventually fall into deep sleep, due to exhaustion. If he was to do this challenge, he would most likely need a minimum of 6 hours irl sleep each day. That would extend the challenge to in between 11 & 12 days. I would bet my own home, that this guy didn't do this challenge by playing out 1,000 in game days via 200+ irl hours. I've seen this & some of his other videos, that reveal he's a bit of a fraud. That's if you view them with some skepticism.

Don't remember in which chapter, but after doing lots of stuff out of camp, a few gang members came looking for me asking is I was on and when I'd return.

I've heard this so many times but I'm never able to trigger it. I leave camp for months at a time (in game time obviously) many times and it has never happened. Also didn't happen in this video for a 1000 days. I don't know how that triggers, or if it's something made up, because again it didn't trigger in this video and I've left for weeks and hasn't happened to me either

@@hustla818 might be chapter two, before you have TB. When the game is still in full tutorial mode. Edit: according to reddit (ok, ikr) it is chapter three. And having a few requirements like visiting a city and riding to the next. Maybe it is more a wall clock timer than in game days?

Yk there's an interaction where if your riding around and not in camp for weeks someone like Charles or Javier will come find you on their horse and invite you to camp, but I think because of all the sleeping and challenges activated this wasn't able to happen, it happened to me when i was just exploring around Rhodes and whatnot and Charles rode me back to camp.

Maybe if you stayed outside a bit more something would have happened, because I have been away from camp for long periods of time (exploring) and someone would come looking for me and ask me if want to come back to camp with him or not

Charles didn't look for you? I spent 5 days in the grizzlies, went to saint denis, started running from the law and there he was outside of town. He said I was hard to track, and Dutch was worried about me.
