My daughter has been using the potty since she was 1 off and on so when we fulling potty trained she was ready and knew how to use a big girl potty. I never bought a small potty. She goes in there by herself now. She’ll be three in august!!! Good luck ladies!!

We love the folding portable seats. We got a green frog one and a yellow owl one. My son refused to go on the potty so these little seats on the toilet have worked great and also gave him familiarity for public toilets so they were never a problem

Yes, so much pressure to do it early! We waited and it was a breeze. Also, I forgot stickers the first time my daughter was in a public restroom and she’s still terrified 🤦🏻‍♀️ So def stickers or a thing of post it notes went into the diaper bag! She can’t avoid public restrooms forever 🙂

Thanks for this video! My son just turned 2 and is starting to show signs that he is ready, but we got a little push back from daycare when we brought it up previously, because he doesn't do the same things there as he does at home. So I think we are going to wait until the fall when I am home full time. Maybe baby sis will spend a day or two with the grandparents so we can fully focus on him!

My son was potty trained at 18 months. We stayed home one weekend and put undies on him and he peed in it about an hour after starting. No coaxing, no demanding. He then continued for the rest of the day. The next day he was quite and I went looking for him and he was standing on tippy toes, trying to stretch his little doodle up over the rim of the toilet 😂. I put the seat on for him and he used it all the time. He never had an accident and at 2 I notice that the nappies were dry over night, so I told him one night no more nappies and again, no wet beds. He showed no signs of even wanting to use the toilet prior yo us starting. I used the same technique for the other two and the boy was fully trained by 2. My girl was fine for using the potty but wouldn’t do no 2 in the toilet. Around 20 months I would put her on the toilet and sit with her reading a book to her. It took a few weeks but once she used it once for no 2’s she then continued. None of my kids wet their beds. It is definitely individual to each child but. I was lucky that none of mine had ongoing issues. I did find with my grandkids that the ones that slept solid and were not easily roused, were the bed wetters. I think we believe that it is going to be so hard but in fact the majority of the time it is pretty easy. I love the idea of a tap out word between parents. 😊

My son had a speech delay so it wasn't until 2.5 when he even began communicating bodily needs so don't feel pressured parents! I actually had a family member tell me they couldn't believe my son was still in diapers and told me I needed to get him trained but it's not up to me, he needs to be ready.

For both my kids we waited until 3 years old I just felt they would understand more idk lol. My boy had way more accidents than my daughter had and I've come to realize that when a boy has accidents the pee just kind goes everywhere and for the girl the pee just soaks all in the underwear and down the leg. Way less mess to clean up when potty training a girl haha. My daughter I'd say was way easier than my son. She started going in the public restrooms 2 months into potty training and it just so happened it was a porta-potty lol we were at a pumpkin patch at that was the only bathroom available. My son wouldn't use a public restrooms until he was almost 3 and half. It's crazy how different each kid potty trains when you have multiple kids. My boyfriend works all day so I basically trained both my kids by myself. We just did underwear all day and pull up at night until we got to potty training at night time.

I feel that there is so much mom peer pressure to potty train early when many kids just are not ready until 2.5 to 3. Both of my boys were not ready until closer to 3, and when they were, the whole process was a breeze. Our 6 month daughter has DS, so I'm expecting her to be in diapers longer than her brothers, but you never know. She could surprise us.

@I'm Drawing A Blank I'm in the exact same boat. First I tried teaching him hand signals, sign language but that's not working. The only thing that is working is to time it after I give him something to drink. Put him on potty 20 to 30 minutes after and give him his favorite treat when he pees in the potty. It will take longer but it will happen.

We potty trained our son at 20 months because he would poop in his diaper, then go get his diaper bag, pull out the pad, the diapers and wipes and throw them at us! Lol. For our second son, we’ll wait until we see a similar sign - even if we see it much later! But at that early of an age, you just can’t expect good communication. As long as we put him on the potty regularly he was good to go.

As an early educator for 16 years and the mom of three now grown folk, I tell everyone I know girls can typically potty train at around 18 months and boys I don’t even START until they are 3. Boys just need more time. But if you wait until they’re 3 they potty train as quickly as girls do.

It sounds like you guys had great luck with the BLF method, but I think you were also right to wait and let Rowan "be ready". I've only seen success stories with the BLF method, but it didn't work for us at all, and I wish I'd listened to my mom who told me not to push my daughter. I followed the class to a T with my daughter at 27 months. She had already occasionally been peeing in the potty and had shown all the signs of readiness. We did the 3 day holiday weekend thing, no rewards or punishment, stay calm with accidents, etc. It was a DISASTER. She freaked out the minute I told her we were saying "Bye-bye" diapers, but still she got a few pees/poops in the potty the first morning and I thought we were on a roll. But then after that it became an unintentional power struggle - no idea what switched in her little toddler brain, but every single pee or poop went straight on the floor and every morning was a meltdown that I was taking the "sleep undies" off. By the end of night three we said forget it. She was just not emotionally ready. So here we are a few months later, she definitely seems closer to being ready now, and I think she'll sort it out on her own with a little more time.

And especially bc my oldest is a boy and my baby girl is 3, which we are potty training now! She’s pretty much got it except for pooping. She still wants to hide and we can’t seem to get her to use the potty to poop. She’s fully wearing underwear during the day and using the potty for peeing so amazing! But I’m trying to not get overwhelmed bc she will be starting Pre-k in the fall. Any tips ?? … but the stick on the public toilet is a great idea and I will be using that, so thank you for that! ❤

I'm curious if he still pees/poops in a pullup or diaper during nap and nighttime. My little girl has been potty trained for a while but she still goes so much at night and nap! She's not holding it either because she goes plenty during the day! It's just funny because one indicator to start training is a dry diaper, but I'm so glad I didn't go off just that and went on her other cues because she was definitely ready!

My 4 1/2 year old is not fully potty trained. She goes to daycare, she is the only one who still isn’t trained. They put pull ups on her for nap time. And undies through the whole day, she won’t let them know she has to go. And they bring her in the potty every 1/2 hour. She doesn’t pull her pants down or up herself, they have to pull her pants and underwear up and down all by herself. BUT with me at my house she does tell me she has to go, she does say I need to potty mama, she does walk to the bathroom and have me fallow her, she does pull her pants and underwear up and down. What do I do??? She’s been at the daycare for 1 year and still doesn’t tell them when she needs to go.

I’m struggling with potty training my 3 yr old…we r staying with my mother now, and she doesn’t understand rug say he’s 3, they make messes…also if I let him train around in just a diaper, I’d I turn my back for a second, she has him fully dressed…shirt pants, not allowed to take them off… she wants him to use the big potty, now. She doesn’t want accidents, no pee or poo on her floor, couch, his bed etc. so that’s a battle. I finally convinced her that he needs a little potty, but she won’t let it leave the bathroom and it can’t be left out when he’s not on it…I feel so bad for my child!! Everything is so much harder now that we live with her!! I thought she was going to be moving but it’s sounds like she thinks I need her here, like I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t, I’m a first time parent, but I know me and I know my child and I know what works does me and him and it’s not the same as she wants it to be. So now I am looking to move, but in the mean time, it’s a freaking struggle!! 🤦🏽‍♀️
