I pick up supplies from the local market and create healthy dishes from what's in season.
I started intermittent fasting 18 months ago and have never looked back. Give me a follow and join me on my journey getting back in shape over 50.
I'm happy to answer questions. Thank you for stopping by, have a beautiful day!

    I just stumbled across you and subscribed as your journey is similar to my own. I am 50 and follow a predominantly plant-based diet with the exception of wild caught fish. I am also a Brit but living in USA. I like to walk and swim, but I think I will grab my daughters jump rope and challenge myself after watching your jump rope video. You are beautiful and I love how unapologetic you are for not following the beauty trends to try to look younger than your age. A few people I know get botox and fillers and I refuse to follow suit. I feel great, and would rather be healthy and stick to non-toxic options at my age to live a long and healthy life. I love that I found you and hope that you continue to post these great videos. Thanks

    I absolutely LOVE you and your sweet channel and I’m plant based too- you have challenged me to start intermittent fasting as you are and have found it quite doable as a plant based eater - before going plant based I found it so hard to wait to eat as they have so many junky things in the standard diet that keep you coming back and almost sick without it 🤪

    I don't think it is healthy to eat tofu everyday...I would be on a emotional roller coaster because that stuff really spikes my estrogen, so it's too powerful, I'm 65. I think it probably affects other people like that too...Always buy organic tofu otherwise, it's going to be GMO and sprayed heavily with chemicals, I''m sure Gail knows this but for others who are watching her videos. I think soybeans can be just as powerful as meat, or more, in perhaps, throwing off hormonal balance. There is a higher risk for breast cancer and also thyroid problems for sensitive people like myself.

    The phytoestrogens in organic soy can be very beneficial for many women after menopause when estrogen declines rapidly. It can be especially beneficial for women having hot flashes. On the other hand, I think it’s a good idea not to overdo anything. In Asia, soy is popular but it’s eaten in moderation and traditionally made. Processed anything should be avoided.

    Looks great! I don’t think I could ever be vegan and I did grow up vegetarian but I do like my seafood especially so prob wouldn’t give that up. But I just wanted to ask about the amount of soy you’re consuming and whether you’ve looked at the research about how it is indigestible unless fermented? This is what I understand. I believe tempeh actually is fermented (not googling this so correct me if I’m wrong!) but the silken tofu I don’t think it is. Do you consume fermented foods to support the gut microbiome? Obviously the soy sauce is fermented so that’s good. Anyway, looks wonderful. I don’t think I could never eat dinner but I applaud your healthy changes and results and I think what you’re doing is fabulous, you look amazing and clearly feel fantastic too!

My stomach can never fit as much food as you eat in one sit even without intermittent fasting let alone when I’m fasting, makes it hard to get the calories I need in a day. I think my gut is just in bad shape, eating half of what you eat makes me feel like I over ate, and I’m not even skinny! 🤣

    Your bmi here is less than 21 so in all honesty you can afford going up a couple of kilos and still be in your ideal weight (granted its just an artificial construct but anyways).. Also, lifting weights and growing muscle is good long term and will increase energy expenditure so you can eat more relaxed. Being alarmed about eating "too much bread", rationing and fasting sounds a little like disordered eating which is never something to promote. There is really no reason to ever punish yourself for what youve eaten/not eaten

  • @helengreen9865

    Tbh she was not punishing herself. She already said she loves bread she has it every day. You can have too much of a good thing which is the main problem in the west. Fasting has many benefits. Autophagy being one of them. Many cultures practice it. Gail is in control of her life no doubt.

    Actually eating too much bread is something to be alarmed about. Bread, in my country for sure, is a highly processed food. Your comment is very preachy. She’s telling us what she does, not what we should do. You may think she is underweight but it’s none of your business. She eats a lot. It just happens to be mainly home cooked and healthy.

  • @nnicollan

    @nnicollan

    @@hansiesma16 As i said in my original comment shes in the normal weight range. And the bread she eats is artesan bread from the local bakery. Not a processed food at all. She doesnt eat processed foods. And you can make bread at home as well. So i dont really get your point. Theres nothing wrong about eating bread in this context. Thats exactly my point. Edit: youre actually making assumptions here - that i perceive her as underweight (or you dont know that bmi a little under 21 is normal) and that bread is always processed. You draw hasty conclusions and attack calling other people "preachy". The mirror will show you whos being preachy. 👋🏻

  • @hansiesma16

    @hansiesma16

    @@nnicollan you’ve gone out of your way to tell her what her BMI is and then say she could put on a few kilos. The inference is very clear. Bread is a non food. It has little nutritional value and tastes so delicious the tendency is to overeat it at the expense of proper food. If you have recently shed loads of weight and want to keep it off then bread is not something you should go to town on. That’s just common sense, not disordered thinking. Processed food: if it contains more than 5 ingredients it’s processed. My point was that you came off as preachy, and critical.
