One thing I noticed, is that each time he built a castle his villagers just kind of stood around waiting for commands afterwards. Doesn't seem like much but if you have 15-20 vils rushing down a castle, or even 10 vils, and then you don't notice that it's finished right away or have to micro somewhere else and they stand there for 30 in-game seconds, that villager idle time adds up. I think it's worth taking a couple seconds right after placing the castle foundation to shift-task the villagers back to what they were doing before you went to build it, that way you lose no time later and your eco balance doesn't get messed up by wondering where they all came from. Or if the castle is more forward you can shift-task them to build a mining camp/lumber camp somewhere nearby. Obviously sometimes you may want to garrison the vils immediately when the castle goes up, depending on the situation, but you can still do that even if you've got them shift-queued and then just use the "back to work" hotkey from the castle when the danger has passed. Not a huge note, but like Hera said about the lumber camp placement, I think it's a relatively easy fix.

Calling gg with 3k wood and gold is the main problem i guess. If you lose with that much resources you should fix your military output either cuz your military buildings were idle or you had not enough of them.

I wish to see more content like this! Definitely a solid player but it felt to me like he didn't commit to his plan. I am at like 1500 but I feel like at 1300 is really not about strategy or tight builds but rather your macro will win you the games more often than not (Especially the feudal one very much fumbled, perhaps he just randomed Malay since they are quite a tricky civ to play) Definitely should have fully commited to a good Arbalest mass too; he never had more than 20

malay is easy at 900 elo just 29 vils -> fast castle -> all in elephants. worked for me 15 games in a row xd

@@pondoz Well this is 1300 elo so is very different hahah People aren't going to be passive and chill with army; so Malay having less res to play with at every new Age can throw you off if you aren't used to them

As a similar level player from Australia, I can relate to a lot of these errors. I think the player was concerned about player arb + halb because he knew that the opponent was already on elite skirm which effectively counters both units. It's hard to know exactly how bad Frank skirms are.

Yeah that's the thing, Franks Skirms hardly "counter" anything. He could have committed to arb halb easily

Woah so weird opponent doing multiple forward castles at 1200-1400? And lost both of them? I never would’ve guessed they would do that.

why don't aoe2 spectators always keeps fog of war on (or shared fog of war), like in League? because the fully visible map looks odd

Hello Hera, maybe you can play a game vs Tatoh or Viper and you play completely without any upgrades, it would be cool to see how much difference it makes on a professional level. Its not possible to win a game, right? Or for example, just don't do economy upgrades and it would be cool to see the difference in economy (vills) while the game is giong.

no eco upgrades has been done a lot by pro's like Nicov.

Also wouldve made a difference If he sniped the trebs. His opponent really kept them alive very well.

Its insane to see people NOT using resources ... at start of imper age having 2k wood 2k gold and not pop cap ... u going for arbs with 2-3 ranges with that much wood drop more ranges and pump out faster ... I never have any resources at all if im not pop cap ..

so maybe I have too high standards, but I am around 1300 and when I have 1min tc idle time in feudal I think it is way to high, especially when not taking too much pressure. That is after all almost equivalent to losing three vils

i'm 1600 and i sometimes get more than 1 minute of idle tc in feudal when i'm microing too much, even tho is not good, it's not that critical and game deciding, but it's definitley something i should work on

@@danielb7495 a vil pays itself in under 3 minutes. And a dead vil is a vil that the opponent had to invest in to kill. Not creating a vil means that it never collected anything and that it didn't even damage the enemy, so it is also possible that a vil who never existed is worse than a dead vil

IM IN THE minute 19 and i feel he will lose this, i hate this throws of won games, i can feel his pain.

The entire gameplay was good except for the macro. The macro was tbh horrible. If you train your macro your elo will jump significantly. You should have had 20k more res with all your eco upgrades. That was what lost you the game.
