It would, i put some into my road tires that are about 110 psi and it seals it pretty well when i roll over glass or what of the sorts

Yeah

The slime needs a centrifugal force, air and proper psi (no more than like 70psi) to work properly. I've been riding with a $9 slime tube from Walmart for about 7 or 8 years now and so far no issues with it and it has a couple of holes but no leaks the slime turned into a black rubber sealing the tire.

Two reasons that Slime didn't seal your second hole but it did seal your first hole that you made in the same place with the same object. The first reason that your second hole didn't seal is that the second time you inserted that threaded spike you reamed it in and out several times and ripped shreds of the tube and tire out with the threads like a file. It wasn't the same hole that you sealed the first time because the first time you didn't ream the hole repeatedly and abrade the rubber. You only punctured it the first time without reaming it. Sealing a nail hole is relatively easy because the nail is smooth and won't abrade the hole like that. It remains a small puncture because the rubber stretches around the nail instead of opening up a huge tear with abrasive action. But if you did ream the hole repeatedly with a nail you would also abrade it (more slowly) and the result would be the same as your second puncture in this video. The second reason that your second hole didn't seal is that the glass fibers in Slime aren't large enough to seal that large of a hole and the Slime fluid isn't viscous enough either. If the fibers are small enough to get swept right through the hole, they won't stop it up and then the Slime can't bubble through and seal the hole with its high viscosity. But the Slime also has to be a higher viscosity if the fibers are longer and fatter because the gaps around the fibers are larger too. The Slime also eventually dries up too when exposed to outside air, so there's that factor in sealing a puncture permanently, but that is a much longer term thing. The patching property is a combination of the glass fibers plugging the hole and the Slime fluid sealing the glass fibers with its high viscosity. The drying effect is a minimal factor that isn't even really necessary in the short term. Try another video with a nail and a hammer instead, or use an awl that has a decent handle on it. Use a pair of vice grips to hold the nail so you don't smash your fingers. Wear safety glasses too so you don't poke your eye out. I'm sure that as long as your nail or awl isn't a huge spike that tears the rubber, you will see that Slime seals the hole easily. I don't think you need to fill the entire tube either, I bet you can just use a normal application of Slime and it will be fine, but once you have punctured it you might still need to spin the tire a little to ensure the hole gets filled with fibers and fluid. You should have been able to predict your result based on the fact that you had to pump the slime in through the valves in the Slime pump and the hole in the valve stem. Creating holes of similar size in your tube will have similar results.

Genius level strategy

When you get punctures the normal way the wheel will be moving and that helps it seal as it goes through the slime and the air with the centrifugal force and sciency things that I never learnt about. Also tube sealant is usually used on tubeless mountain bikes that never really ride above 40psi.

it probably needed more time to dry, especially with how much you put in. if you do it again itd be good to skip putting the tube in it, and instead slowly layer the slime, letting it dry between each layer. or maybe put a little air in the tube, then basically paint it on the tube, or inner tire, until it fills up all the space between the tube and tire. please try this again!! im very interested in how it works when you let it dry as much as it needs!

That wouldn't have helped, he had far too much slime and air pressure. The slime needs far more air to dry and cure and far less slime that added to the too high pressure and inability to dry. Pretty obvious results and dumb experiment.

Dude it didn’t seal the second time because 99% of the time the tire is not getting punctured in the exact same spot as it did before. The first time you punctured it it was fine. Also usually things like nails and other sharp objects stay in the tire allowing for the sealant to work better due to not having as big of a hole to seal up. I didn’t expect anything less then what we saw

Its because you had to much pressure on the tire so the slime couldn't have time to seal the hole so it kept going until neither A. There was time to seal it or B. The slime ran out and the pressure lowered, and because you poked the hole where the slime was heavily concentrated the air pushed all the slime out until option B happened.
