Yeah, it seemed to be that way because some of the developers needed to leave in order to work on other projects such as Final Fantasy 11 or just outright left their company in favor of freelance work.

Chrono Trigger was lightning in a bottle, as far as the development team was concerned. They did this team-up specifically because they knew it was once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This type of passion project should be officially handed to the fans. The fans have more love for Chrono than the company, and therefore have better inspiration. They are the ones who keep it alive, while the company is choking it to oblivion because it can't make a ridiculous margin of profit with it.

​@@JoshuaJacobs83Yep, because one of the anime cutscenes shown in both the PS1 and DS versions depict an event in 1005 AD in where apparently Guardia is overthrown by Porre and that the Masamune disappeared as well.

I would love to see the Skies of Arcadia series make a comeback with a sequel or remake. While it was just a single title it was so much fun and had tons of potentital to become a series. That game's world is still the best I have ever seen!

I just found you from your mother 4 video, but i'm glad i got to see the rest of your channel, this game means so much to me that it's not even funny, it's the first RPG that i've ever played, liked, wanted to see more about and still want to make something about it even with square being square, this game is so great that i used him as a theme for several school assignments when I was still studying and i still never beat the game just for the sake of saying: "I still need to finish this game for the first time someday."

Also, don't tell this to Square but from what i've heard Flames of Eternity is stll trying to do something about the game, they never said exactly what, but there's absolutely something going on.

Man Chrono trigger is Fricken beautiful I remember playing it on an emulator but I might replay it on on steam

I wouldn't recommend getting it on steam. They just ported the mobile version of it, resulting in much of the games soundtrack being cut. You're better off emulating.

I'm glad you mention Another Eden. Some other videos I saw didn't even mentioned Another Eden. It's crazy, despite now legendary of a writer and music composer they were and that it even has characters from Chrono series kinda and is even about time travel and has world exploration, the game is way too underrated. Lol XD

But they would only just port it for the SNES Virtual Console. ...I don't mean to sound rude, but why not just play it on the other, *better* ports such as DS or PC?

@@Loner098 I physically own the DS version, it's the best version but it costs like a hundred bucks. The ideal solution is Chrono Trigger getting the HD 2D treatment and being released physically again or at least digitally for all platforms like Chrono Cross did.

There is a really good rom hack of CT that serves as a bridge between chrono trigger and chrono cross. I believe it's called Flame of Eternity

It's interesting that you bring it up. I really think that now with the innovation of the HD-2D style by Square Enix, combined with having an amazing jrpg game seller in the Nintendo Switch, there is finally that scope again to reintroduce this series. Going by how Square Enix is going all in on said HD-2D style with Triangle Strategy and now their first remake in said style with Dragon Quest 3, I'd say the chances are definitely more now than 0. I sure hope they surprise us and decide to bring it back. I love this game series so much! Great video dude!

Yes!! A video on my favorite game of all time :) I can't express enough how much I love this game, I could write a lot about how much I love it and why is such a perfect game but all I'll say is what I respond every time someone asks me about the it: Chrono Trigger is a timeless masterpiece, the perfect starting point for someone who wants to get into JRPGs and that one game you come back after getting burnt out of every other game, like it happened to me. I think about Chrono Trigger every single day of my life, and I don't think that'll stop anytime soon.

Considering that Chrono Trigger was the result of a dream team of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest creatives working together, you would think that the merger of Square and Enix would have made developing sequels easier. I guess that the problem that they'll never be able to clear their schedules together for one (if that's even something they're interested in doing).

Wonderful video, bro, and very informative. Might I suggest a slight bass increase in your vocal audio? Just enough to separate it from the other sounds in the video a little better, auditorily. Beyond this, the intro, sequence of information delivery, and what you chose to display visually during the video were all top-notch. I'm... confused as to why this doesn't have more views... ...and why the F wasn't I Sub'd already?! O_O

No offense to chrono cross, but it’s the vaguest sequel I have ever seen. There’s a great mystery as to what happened to the old characters and locations, to the point where it’s kind of blue balling.

Chrono Cross may well be my favorite rpg of all time. That being said, ive sort of always thought of it as more of a spiritual successor than an actual sequel. I do like how they two games tie in near the end, but i do wish they could have done more.

Actually if you play chrono trigger ds, you get full context that the army of the guy you let live in antiquity comes and invades a short while after the game ends. Kid is the only one that lives so to speak. Aside from magus who goes off and does his own thing, losing his memory from what i gather if you beat the secret boss.

If Square Enix is worried a remake or sequel wouldn't sell well, they could always let Nintendo put Chrono Trigger on Nintendo Switch Online to gauge reception...

Chrono trigger was essentially a final fantasy. Hironobu Sakaguchi influence on it is obvious. The pacing is tight. He actually convinced Yuji hori to cut massive amounts of meandering content. A chrono sequel without him won't be nearly worth it.

I miss this game.

I finally gave up, made the poor decision and ordered a copy for the SNES. I’m happy but also realize I have a problem…🤷‍♂️🙅‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙅‍♂️ great video though!

Chrono Trigger is one of the GREATEST games ever made! Its a shame it never got a TRUE succesor! I would love to travel to an alternate timeine and get Chrono trigger how it MENT to be witout any cut content!

After the merger with Enix, the Dragon Quest franchise is still going.

I can't see this as unsafe...Crystal Chronicles isn't as beloved...they remade it and it DID outdo what they thought it would...and it too is really old. I never even played this game and I know how big of a deal even a remake would be, the issue is more the work required to do it if anything. There's so much dialogue and music...just so much work, granted FF7R being a thing proves they'll do it if we really want it...though if I'm honest they were extremely lazy with what they decided to do with that "remake" and to call it a remake is not really fair since it's more of a reboot than anything. But yes, the whole "it's not safe to rerelease/remake Chrono" holds zero salt.

Chrono cross personally I liked it but t was because I'd beat xhrono trigger all high on ritalin

Why did they not want to expand the original chrono trigger? The game was a masterpiece. Could you imagine if Final Fantasy series was like "nah one game was good enough let's do a new thing". I was a 90's kid and Chrono Trigger and FF7 was on par with each other and even to this day everyone calls them the GOATS.

I'll never tell....

I honestly don't want ANYTHING remade or continued from long ago. In today's world nothing gets done right (especially in the entertainment industry). Only once in a while there is a solid original IP. Leave everything in the past where it belongs. The 90's were the golden age of video games and we will never again see that kind passion from developers. It's ok too. There are so many titles from that decade that you can keep playing over and over again to your hearts content. What a time the 90's were..................................................................................................................................................................

The same thing that happened to all the RPGs. Thrown into the trash can for Battle Royals, Mobas, twitch shooters, and micro transactions baby!

Hm I might have misremembered but I think in the beginning the Chrono series was originally going to be FF's successor since FF back in the day was seen as a failure by Japan when they released FF to the west

Honestly, I'm kind of glad they just left the series as-is. Trigger and, to a slightly lesser extent Cross, are both phenomenal games and imo Trigger is one of if not the greatest game ever made. I feel like they wouldn't have been able to live up to the series' name with more sequels, and would dilute what made it great with remakes.

Yeah, the character designer of the first game was Akira Toriyama.

it was created by Chrono Trigger and subsequently murdered by Chrono Cross.

Could you imagine a new modern Chrono Trigger? They’d split it into 5 releases, half of each release would be split into dlc, and it would be FFXV style gameplay with hyper realistic graphics. They would literally suck every bit of charm the game ever had straight out of the equation.

It’s funny square will dump Brazilians of money into garbage final fantasy after final fantasy but won’t make a game people have been asking for, or at least buy crimson echos and release it. And they squashed everything Enix they could,,,

It wasn't anywhere near as good as Chrono Trigger, but it wasn't terrible either... I played both... I still enjoyed Chrono Cross, for different reasons... but yes, I still consider Chrono Trigger to be the better of the two games... IT WOULD HELP IF I COULD PLAY CHRONO CROSS ON MOBILE TOO... THEY PORTED FUCKING FF7, FF8, AND FF9 ON IOS / ANDROID, BUT THEY WON'T DO THE SAME WITH CHRONO CROSS AND XENOGEARS?! THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?!?!
