We post this video hoping it would light up your day. First, this is a dog that has separation issue since we got her, and unfortunately it got worse with the pandemic as both of us are home all the time, and lots of dogs are dealing with this too. We’ve been working on that, and we tried all of those that you judged us for not doing just because you didn’t see it on this video: taking her for a walk before leaving, putting toys, treats, limiting her in a small area, slowly increasing the time intervals of the separation, calming her down before we leave. Also we don’t leave her alone more than 2-3 hours. We are living in a society where we are so quick to judge and leave extremely mean comments, all I ask of you is to stop being mean and judgmental to the people around you without knowing what they have been through.

Please try Rescue Remedy Pet for your doggie. It works wonders, it is perfectly safe and vet approved and has no side effects. It is gentle and made from flowers. You can put drops in your dog's water bowl. You can also try what is called a Thunder Jacket, which might comfort your dog. www.amazon.com/Bach-Rescue-Remedy-Pet-10/dp/B0030NWZUC/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=rescue+remedy+pet&qid=1616567902&sr=8-2

@@CeceFamily Yes, veterinarians use it and it is perfectly safe. It is glycerin based, so it can be put in water, or food, or on your dog's ear tips, or around his muzzle. I give to my cats when they have to go on a car trip and they are so mellow and relaxed and don't meow. The trick to it is administering it often, "as often as needed".

@@CeceFamily Hi, Cece is adorable! We have had Pomeranians for forty years and may I kindly suggest that you have her tested for collapsing trachea because of her bark, especially near the end. This could be just Cece, the way she barks, but we have had two CT at our house and it is something you could mention to your vet. I believe the best remedy for separation anxiety is another Pom to keep her company!

@@brendagutoske8117 thank you so much for your advice! We actually also noticed that and took her to the vet for a check before. They performed an X-ray and it turned out Cece does have TC. The vet said that it’s not that serious/high grade yet, and doesn’t recommend taking any actions for now though. Do you have any tips regarding how to take care of dogs wit TC to make sure it doesn’t get worse? I try to be gentle to Cece all the time, use soft harness, and monitor her weight and her food intake closely to make sure she’s not overweight. Thank you for your kind suggestion also! When our financial conditions have improved to open the home for one more dog, we’ll surely do it. Now is not a good time yet as you might have known raising a Pomeranian in NYC is very costly already! 😊 😝

They’re not drama queens, they are pack animals. Every single breed is. Dogs are pack animals, in the wild they would always stay together. It’s actually not natural for them to be solo. They’ve been with us since we were migrating in groups across continents, we didn’t leave them, we took them with us. They don’t understand modern human behavior where we leave the house. If you want them to, you can train them to be calm and give some space before you leave. Cesar Milan has a video on it.

It helps not to play with them before you sneak out, it winds them up and scares them because you arent there after they just saw you. It's best to leave when the dog is napping or chilling on the couch. That way they just wonder where you've gone vs seeing you go.

Thank you for your kind suggestion ! This is a dog with serious separation anxiety since we got her already, she would freak out the moment we change our clothes and there is no way she would be sleeping when we leave. Anw, if you have been reading the comment section, you would have known that we’ve stopped petting her before and after leaving for quite a while already (it’s our fault we initially thought that by petting her while saying soothing and soft long words before leaving we’d help to calm her - anw we consulted with a dog trainer and have since learned it’s not beneficial and we stopped petting and greeting her right after leaving or coming back). We’re also working on desensitizing her to our departure cues by changing our clothes like 5 times a day nowadays. While we appreciate your kind and polite comment trying to help, we’re also pretty stressed out because of the judgement and some extremely mean comments (which we already deleted) without knowing the history and circumstances behind this dog.

Just adopted a rather bright pom. I have no problems with leaving her in doors, and when at home I leave her to herself. Attention time is set of a morning and evening. We have a strict home, but loving within it so Lola is very happy, and bouncing. I have noticed that dogs are at their best when they have been taught the rules. Too much attention, over attention can ruin a dog, bring about distress because there will be times when you cannot pay attention to them, and they expect you to.

  • @CeceFamily

I completely agree! Some people say it’s cruel to leave dogs home alone. I’d argue otherwise - it’s healthy to teach dogs to be comfortable staying home by themselves for a few hours in order to not suffer from separation anxiefy and become overly attached to you. I’ve worked hard on Cece’s separation anxiety and brought home a companion for her, and she’s gotten a lot better and nowadays she just sleeps when we’re gone lol! And she’s super independent when we’re home so life has been easy for us thankfully! 😂❤️

@@CeceFamily I agree. What is totally wrong is to leave a dog out of doors, especially locked out when one is in. I just picked up a companion from a dog's shelter, and after a very long walk of a morning I then have to go out and do my own work, and no problem with missy as she sits in the hall way till I come back, around 30 minutes. She has the full run of the house, is happy and contented, and I would never, never lock her outside. She loves to come under my desk of a morning, lay down until it is time to go for a walk.

This sweet little "floofer" reminds me of my own Pomeranian Gizmo. Some times I would have to leave Gizmo alone, and not because I necessarily wanted to. I would in that case, buy some puppy pads. Gizmo would usually do her business in the bathroom, almost every time on the pads. Also I would have probably ten to twenty stuffed toys for her to chew on, one of them being a stuffed squirrel with a squeaker. I would sometimes say to her "Gizzy, go get the baby!" I lost Gizmo to a terminal health condition in March 2017. She lived to fifteen years.

    1) Kong toy stuffed with yummy treats or a few pieces of chicken-wrapped sweet potato chews whenever you leave will distract her and keep her busy for a while. 2) NO big productions of leaving/returning like petting, hugging, kissing, etc. Just give her the Kong toy and leave quietly. When returning, just say hi, smile, a pat on her head and go about like nothing's special. You want to teach her that this is routine and no need to stress out or excited about. After 10-15 minutes and she's calmed down then you can pet and love on her. 3) Train her to use the pee pad inside so she doesn't have to hold it in too long. 4) Make sure she pees right before you leave either on her pad or outside. A short morning walk might be good as she's also exerciced and tired out. Then come back in, give her treats, and quietly leave. Hopefully, she'll work on those treats then take a nap and feel much better home alone 🐶.

I lost my Rusty in Feb 2019 to congestive heart failure, then, when I lost my home, had to give up my youngest because he needed a yard and I moved into a mobile home park. Then, 2 months after I gave up my youngest (he was 8), my 10 year old died from mold poisoning from the trailer where I was. It was horrible. I cry every day over all 3 of them because my heart has been shattered as well. I lost my 3 babies in a span of 18 months. Just love your baby as long as you can, but when it’s time, do the right thing and let them go. I used Lap of Love to help Rusty cross over. They were wonderful and they are nationwide. But my Sawyer died a horrible death. He suffocated in my arms on the way to the emergency vet😭😢😭. I have to stop writing now because I’m sobbing.

Poor baby has separation anxiety! I have a pom too so I understand the struggle. My little guy used to cry and wail as a puppy when my husband and I would leave. I think one thing that really helped was that he had his own playpen from the time we brought him home, and as he got used to it, that became his safe space. So we always put him in his playpen when we leave (it also keeps him from getting into stuff). The playpen is big enough for a big bed, lots of toys, food, water, etc. It's like 5 feet by 5 feet, which is pretty big for pom but still small enough that he feels safe. Another big thing that helped was that we very slowly increased the length of time we were gone. As a puppy, we would practice leaving for 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, etc. and worked our way up to 3-4 hours. We don't leave him alone for longer than that because it's hard for little dogs to hold their bladder too long. Giving him a treat to chew on right before we left helped too, though sometimes if he was too worked up he just ignored it. I hope maybe something here was helpful for you! Poms are very prone to separation anxiety, so don't feel like you're doing something wrong. They love us so much and want to be with us all the time.

Thank you so much Natalie for taking the time to share your own experience and tips to navigate this! We appreciate that a lot! ❤️❤️ It’s smart that you started training your Pom since he was a puppy, and I agree with you on not leaving them for more than 3-4 hours as their bladders are small! I got Cece rather late at around 6 months, and the moment she arrived at our house she already cried whenever we closed the bathroom and such :( They are indeed very loyal and attached breed of dog! We’re also currently working on slowly increasing the intervals as well - since her separation anxiety is so severe we have to stick with 1 to 2 mins for now and will slowly increase as she makes progress ❤️

I have a Pomeranian and a Pomapoo, before the Pomapoo, we had a Pom/Eskimo mix that has since passed. I got the Pomeranian first (15 years ago!!) and quickly learned she needed a companion. So since she was 1, we've always had two dogs since I work. But I have always come home at noon to take them outside. Sometimes you need to leave, and it's ok. Very cute girl. Mine is an orange sable with a foxy snout.

Awe, what a sweet little girl, she’s such a cutie!!! Unfortunately though it sounds like her narrow trachea is pretty bad. I recognize this because of the bit of gaspy/gargly sounds she makes after barking. I have a 9 year old Pomeranian that unfortunately has tracheal issues as well. It is very important that you never ever clip a leash onto her collar. Only use a harness. If you put a leash onto her collar, if she pulls while walking the added pressure can actually cause her trachea to collapse which can result in suffocation and ultimately lead to death. 😭 I do have a collar for my boy, however it is ONLY used for his identification tags! The harness I have for him is special and doesn’t agitate his throat in any way. Pomeranians can be litter potty trained and because you are leaving home for long hours on end I think this would be useful to you. You can NOT EVER use ANY kind of cat litter what-so-EVER as ingestion of cat litter can cause impaction and death! Instead, what you use is newspaper pellet litter that is often used for rabbits and guinea pigs because it is non-toxic it consumed by puppies or adult dogs. In order to teach your dog how to use this litter box with pellet litter, get a very large, but low walled litter pan tray that is easy for the dog to step over. Next, inside the litter tray out down a puppy pee pad on the bottom with the plastic side down and the white potty side facing up. Next fill with a light layer of litter pellets. You don’t want to use too much to start because you want your dog to get used to the feel of them. As your dog gets used to them you can gradually add more. Now that you have set up your litter box, you are going to need to collect a bit of fresh poop and urine from your dog and place it into the middle of the litter box. Whenever it seems like your dog needs to go to the bathroom, bring them to the littler box and put them in and encourage them to go potty let them smell that their own excrement is there so that they will understand that this is a place where they are allowed to go potty. Give LOTS of encouragement and praise! It will take time to teach your dog how to use and be comfortable with the litter box but it is worth it for people whom are gone for long hours. I also recommend you search up dog litter box training videos as well for further tips and help. If you have any additional questions though you are welcome to ask me! It took me a few weeks to litter train my pin when he was a puppy, but once he figured it out he always used it and it was wonderful! (Although when he matured he no longer wanted to use the litter box and felt guilty when he would used it for some reason even though I would praise him for using it when he had to. He just only preferred going outside as an adult since he grew out of it..which is totally fine because I am home all the time to let him out whenever he needs. By the way if you would like to see the harness I got for him, I got a BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM made leather harness for him from YUPCOLLARS on Etsy!!! I am not affiliated with them in any way I just love their stuff, their products are top notch quality. They can customize anything for you! The harness I am linking is purple and black as a default but I had mine custom made as black and teal and it’s amazing!!! This harness is SO easy to slip on and the padded leather is extremely comfortable for him and doesn’t bother his trachea at all! Best money I ever spent on a harness and I even got the matching padded leather leash!!!!! You won’t regret buying from them! I honestly cant wait to have more money so I can buy a matching collar!! www.etsy.com/ca/listing/478305948/purple-dog-harness-ultra-soft-leather?ref=yr_purchases

Hey, no problem always happy to try and help! Good to hear you are already trying the suggestions I mentioned even before I said anything. ^^ I can see you guys really care about your little Pom a lot! Also, You say that when you go out she always goes in the same spot, so what about if you put an extra large pee pad down directly over the spot she goes on the floor in front of the door(at least that’s what it looked like where it was I could be wrong.) you could use double sided tape on the bottom side of the pee pad so that way it wouldn’t get moved around from that spot from her walking over it. That way it would save your floor so that the urine doesn’t wreck your nice floor. In any case, she is a super cutie! I bet my little Pom would like her. He loves little girl dogs(but still loves me his mama the most lol) . He is neutered but still loves their company more so than male dogs it’s funny haha. 😆 I bet they would have fun playing together! He loves getting zoomies while playing with other little dogs! It’s so cute to watch.

Hi Robbie! I love how as much as you love to own a Pom, you don't let the heart takes over and you're still rational to know that it might not be the right time. When I first got my Pom - Cece, I was living with my whole family so even though i myself was working 9 hours a day there was still always someone home with her. When I got married and moved to the US, we still make sure that we only leave Cece home alone for 2-3 hours max because a lot of Poms are really attached to their owners as you might have seen in other videos as well. Well maybe you can watch Cece for now, and wait until the time is right to get your own Pom hehe :P P/S: Maybe if it's financially feasible, you can hire a dog sitter to be home with your dog when you're working :D

Rescue Remedy and/or Richard’s Organic Pet Calm may help with the anxiety if you give it a bit before you leave. Your vet could also prescribe something, if needed, but this isn’t even bad, honestly. Our Pom always howls for a minute or two when we leave her home, but is totally fine after that. Poms are human-oriented and just prefer being with their person(s) at all times.

Yep, poms are well known for separation anxiety. I knew this before I got mine and have worked on that since we got her. She would pee even if she’s alone at the balcony while we’re still in the house. Poms just are too clingy to their human. We traine her everyday for 10-20 min. Eventually she got used to it and doesn’t whine anymore. But the first 2 weeks were a nightmare. Hope you all are doing well! 🌸

My cat's weight also decreased because she was running around and playing more with her companion. I wrote to that she sat in the same spot all day long and didn't move unless to eat.

No dog/doggie parents should have to suffer from Separation Anxiety! As adorable as your dog is, it's a difficult situation because of your dog's size and because she's a purebred Pomeranian.

Wow it’s interesting how many Pom owners (Pomsky in your case hehe) have said their Poms do the same thing when they’re out! 😂

@@nimanixo it’s definitely tough but I also believe that Poms that are exposed to their owner being away early on in life will be much less likely to suffer from separation anxiety so it’s still possible if we put in the training and work. What I worry most would probably be potty training as it can be hard to potty train them if we’re away and can’t monitor them, and a 2-month Pom puppy often won’t be able to hold pee for more than 2 hours :( Maybe try to ask for help from friends and family to take care of them during the day if you have to work full-time, or try some of the board and train services? 💕

Our pom is a boy, 1 year old 💙 and he's very much like this. He knows when we put our shoes on, we're leaving soon so he will start in with jumping on us,pulling our shoes away, etc.
