Lets be honest. This film was meant for a certain audience that actually enjoys Kickboxer 4, Balance of Power, Bloodfist 3, etc. The fight scenes and soundtrack were amazing and yes, its not the best movie but I enjoyed it a lot and thought Viking Samurai rocked it.

@@UMNightlife if you can enjoy that i'll respect your opinion but it was terrible man. Lead actor and villain were crap. Fight scenes were not great. Story was terrible. It really doesn't compare to the kickboxer sequels or any half decent martial arts film. However viking was solid and should have had a bigger role

Take this into consideration. Crowd funded film no multi-million dollar budget. Fight scenes hella dope and well choreographed. This movie was 10x better than Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny lol. They had a multi million dollar budget as well. As a retro martial arts movie fan I highly recommend watching it! 💪

Just rented this on Prime yesterday, David. Honest opinion, it was okay. The opening definitely captured the 80s vibe, but that was kinda lost once the film began. And overall the film actually reminded me much, much more of Best of the Best 2 than Bloodsport. That said, you were fantastic in it! And being that I haven't been around lately on the channel, I was pleasantly surprised to see you in it. I had no idea you would pop in. And no joke, I thought you were better than the lead. I hope you get more acting gigs as you definitely have a knack for it. And as said, your fights were awesome, loved that you got to do the JCVD helicopter kick! This must have been a blast for you. And I am always up for a little (no pun intended) Mike Moller cameo. Very underappreciated martial artist.

Hi Viking Samurai, THE LAST KUMITE is a movie for fans made by fans. I supported the kickstarter campaign and watched the movie a few days ago and I will watch it many times in the future. THE LAST KUMITE is a Retro Martial Arts Movie at it's Best, I love it. Kurt McKinney and Matthias Hues acting is good, they have for sure the most experience. Billy Blanks surprised me because his emotional acting is very convincing. But last but not least I have to say that besides your great martial-arts skills your acting was really good,so far as I know this was your first acting role, so great respect to you Viking Samurai. To every movie fan, if you like movies like BLOODSPORT, NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER (KARATE TIGER in Germany), KICKBOXER you will also like THE LAST KUMITE and please keep in mind that this movie was made with a very very small budget but it was made with hard work and with heart and soul. So go for it and NEVER SURRENDER.

The Last Kumite just became one of my favorite film's of 2024. I was happy to buy it getting on digital. I'm happy i pre-ordered the Blu-ray/ 4K it was a great throwback to the 80's/90's Martial Arts flims. I'm not upset that Rothrock didn't fight much she did a great job along side Billy Blanks mentoring the character Michael Rivers who was played by Mathis Landwehr. He did a great job, I knew he was gonna do well despite some expected Scott Adkins or JCVD to be in it. Viking it did well on it too, so best of luck on your future projects. Anyone reading this don't be afraid to follow your dreams....

I have to say surprisingly (because i have never seen him in a movie before) my favorite part was seeing Bolo Yeung son. I am going to be honest here Dave. I thought this movie going to be bad and it is. the Acting the line delivering the fight sound effect everything looked sounded just so amateur. Some of the fights are well choreographed but most of the actors were just bad. The Heavy looked laughable and so bad at acting. Some fighters are just terrible choice buy the casting department. I love blood sport don't get me wrong and kick boxer all van damme films but this is just not even close to any good fight movies from the 80s 90s. I am sorry but this movie is just bad. Even the cinematographer and the angels he picked just made the film look so outdated with the editing. You were the best thing in the whole movie. you acted good. you should of played the main role not that guy. Congrats for the role you need a good agent and pick better films if you can. Hats of to the producer writer for completing the film but I am sure he can do better than this next time.

The one guy who wasn't actor (Mr Samurai) was the best part of the film ironically. As a fan of the 80s and 90s films I didn't find this one enjoyable. Sorry to say. The story didn't flow that well and felt like most of the cameos were being shoe horned in. The story was less believable than usual, i.e one week to get trained by the guru for the big fight, most films from back in the day would have months led into it story wise. And I was disappointed not to see more of Bolo Yuengs son in this film. You can see Paul Hertzog's soundtrack was phoned in essentially ripping off his own work and reworking it slightly from Kickboxer / Bloodsport days. I did have high hopes for this, but it missed the mark big time. I think were it failed compared to movies back in the day, is the lack of a Hong Kong team to do the fight choreography behind the scenes. This is were movies like NRNS would shine when the story itself was weak in comparison. Positives - Viking Samurai, Mathius Hughes Keep it up Viking.

This might have spoilers. Read on if you're ok with that. Great, great movie if you liked Bloodsport, No Retreat, No Surrender, Kickboxer and movies like it. The 80s vibe is apparent from the first opening shots of present day Manhatten. It has the film grain/color filter so it looks very 80s until you realize the skyline is way different. The movie is pupsosefully light on the acting and plots and heavy on the fighting and blood. Some blood looks better than others which I consider an editing issue but could be a prop issue as well. Each actor gets a few scenes where they nail it and 1 or 2 where they do not which truly pegs the way those movies were made back then. The thing they didn't do was try to fix it in the voice over so I was very impressed with the attention to detail. Nobody outshines anyone else with the exception of our eponymous lead. He gets the best shots, scenes and lines and has a JCVD lite accent. As in, you can hear his accent but it doesn't get in the way as much as JCVDs did back in the day or a modern day immigrant for that matter. It was spot on for this movie and I wouldn't change it. Each martial artist chosen for the project has a little showcase of skills throughout the movie more or less. Which was a great touch. I was disappointed I didn't get a full fix of my crush Cynthia Rock, however you do get to see her end one of her students. Which was comical and visceral at the same time like a Mortal Kombat Finisher. The vomit inducing, cheer leading rah rah 80s music is on full display and is note and pitch perfect. They use modern mix and master techniques on digital equipment so it sounds phenomenal and the one thing many of those older movies had off, the sound effects of fist and feet hitting skin and breaking bones, is all there, perfectly timed, and just too loud enough to be creepy. This movies star power from that time period is amazing. It's a blink and you'll miss it situation with people from all the movies that were lauded and loved back then. The attention to the cheese of the 80s is in full effect. The only thing not fully normal for this type of movie was the ending but that I won't ruin. I will say the true hero of the movie interacts with the casted hero in the movie just right to have such a great twist for an ending. All in all it pumped up all 80s martial art tropes along with refining some of the more, shall we say, not as acceptable today moments with much better ones. You can see it was well thought through from years of watching these films and knowing how to Push it to the Limit. Speaking of which, the soundtrack will be a workout Playlist for fans of this type of music for years to come. I was so shocked at how well the 80s music was reenvisioned by Stan Bush. Anyone watching Viking Samurai right now will love this movie if only for Cynthia and David. 😉

Watched "The Last Kumite", just last week on DVD in the UK. Some of the acting was a bit off at times but you were really good most of the time, for me you and Kurt McKinney made it so much fun. As did most of the cast, the fights were incredible as they looked so brutal I felt that some of the guys got hit hard. 4/5 stars. Will watch again soon. Thanks guys and girls.

The whole film, along with the actors, displayed a better time in life and what is most important. These are great people. Dvd on order.

Ok, just got done watching it. It was pretty good, the acting made me cringe hard ASF, which is only natural considering it carries that 80s-90s Martial Arts movie aura. Besides that, this film I'll say has replay value, I'd watch it again 👌🏾. Pros: Fight Scenes Cons: Acting

I'm of that age when I grew up with these kind of films. But I never liked them for the acting. For me it was all about the quality of the fight scenes. The training montages.and the music. I did watch the last kumite the weekend. It was nostalgic. It was cool to see all my favourite martial artists. That's all I have to say about it really

Decent Budgets dont necessarily mean Decent movies. This is proven by kickboxer vengeance, and retaliation. Bloodsport, and the original Kickboxer had a certain charm that money just can't buy. Unfortunately Last Kumite didn't have a budget , or this charm, and I could list off hundreds of things that were wrong with it. But i wont! Because it really showed me it's potential for the future. After watching it I have to say I was really suprised at how good Viking was ( And I've been a harsh critic of his in the past) but he had a great onscreen presence, and charisma, and his acting was far better and suited to these types if movies than most if not all the cast. For me the lead actor, and villain were terrible. I think if this movie had a million dollar budget, was shot in Asia , with Viking samurai in the lead role, and Bolo yeung jr as the villain it really Could have been something.

Just keep pursuing acting & not be an Ong Soo Han in never giving up on acting. Hopefully you get to branch into even meatier roles & get into mainstream roles including tv shows & not just action stuff, but more dramatic roles. I came across a guy who told me that the ones who make it big like the Pacinos & Deniros in show biz are the ones who stick to their craft, always perfecting that craft, always networking & constantly auditioning since as he said you cannot get arrested for auditioning & gotta have that burning passion for acting in spite of the countless rejections metaphorically similar to how a sales person usually needs to make a lot of sales calls & get tons of rejections before landing that sale. See you at the top & hopefully I get to interview you like you have with the Van Dammes & Seagals of the world! After you take out Moseley, I hope you get to take out Delahoya & Mayweather in boxing taking away Mayweather's 0!

Big grats man from down under, can't wait to see the film!!!! People need to remember - martial arts films are like Porn. They aren't supposed to be Academy award nominations, they move you forward quickly to the good stuff - the action! Ps. 2 martial arts films that never get a mention are the perfect weapon and angel town - check em out for some more 80's action!
