@@munirajmuni4500 Right click on Start, click on Disk Management, right click on the drive, the options to create and format partitions are there. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE. Make sure it's what you want to do.

I've been working in this field for quite a while now and followed all of your steps before watching this video. So that did confirm that I didn't lose touch with the basics. Also, I love your metaphor and you paint a very vivid picture with it.

More people should see this instead of that crap that Wondershare has regarding RAW drives.

There seems to be a bug with chkdsk in Windows 7. I have a USB stick that was formatted by a CCTV DVR, chkdsk fails with RAW error, but selecting properties -> tools-> error-checking correctly recognizes it as FAT32, and can check & scan the drive. Weird!

Getdataback often works, but usb is so much more prone to this corruption than internal connections its just obnoxious when it happens.

Hi! my new external hard drive keeps on being corrupted of some sort. It gives says I need to reformat first and when I used the CHKDSK cmd it shows that its RAW. I already transferred more than 68 GB of data and after a few days sometimes hours it gets corrupted. I already used 2 different external hard drives and I still have the issue. Could it be my computer who's causing the problem and if so can you please recommend some solution? thank you!

If it's just one drive, then it's unlikely to be the computer. I would replace its cable, and perhaps plug it into a different USB port to begin with.

Hey Leo one more question does buying a new windows key and installing it remove the virus on my current windows also I will formmat it first before I install a new windows 10

A Windows Product key has nothing to do with this. If you have a virus, remove the virus. Here's an article on how I recommend doing so, without purchasing a new Windows Key: askleo.com/remove-malware/

The type of the file system is NTFS. The first NTFS boot sector is unreadable or corrupt. Reading second NTFS boot sector instead. Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted. Sir What does it mean? I can't open the disk drive.......

I ran chkdsk on my 2nd hdd and it ran for hours. It gave an error and now that drive freezes when i boot my pc. And it isnt just D anymore, its now D,E:

how i can recover data from a disk with this type of problem ?

Right click on the drive in Windows File Explorer and select "Format"
