Hey Wiley and Jacob. Just a small tip, when you remove the push rods get a piece of cardboard and punch 8 holes in a strait line, mark them 1-8 and put the corresponding push rod in the each hole. Its always good to keep them in order so they go back in the same cam follower. Jacob I admire the respect you have for your dad, you are an inspiration for the younger people watching. Keep up the good work👍

I'm a mechanic, well done on getting the head off. Yeah I would check the head out. make sure the valves are sealing/closing and are not stuck, you could lap the valve seats in. I think it will all be good though. it is quite simple to put it back together, well for the trained person. clean all surfaces, re assemble in reverse order you took it apart. tension head in the correct order etc. You got lucky those cylinder walls look good.

Bent or broken shifter forks can cause you to be able to put the transmission in two gears at a time. Take the top off the transmission and use a crowbar to shift both to neutral.

There is water (Coolant) that circulates through the head. You did not drain radiator, so when you loosened the head the water ran out. Water runs from the head, down into the block. You will have to remove the upper radiator hose at the water neck.
That's actually looking like a nice engine once you got the head off. A good clean and don't forget to change the oil as there will be water in it now. Bob

It’s so great to see Jacob listening to everything you say and learning from it
Don't like too be negative but, when you break headbolts loose you break them loose in sequence usually working from center outward. It's the same as when you tighten them, always tighten them in sequence usually in two too three steps to the proper torque and sequence. Otherwise you can wrap the head. I hope this information is helpful.

I didn’t know that was necessary on removing head but it does make sense Thanks for sharing
Hello Wily and Jacob. I would suggest that while you have the engine stripped you do a complete replacement of the water pump. Also, don’t forget to torque down the head bolts gradually in the sequence laid down by the engine manufacturer. Thanks for your enjoyable, and sometimes comical, content. Stay safe. Stan

Wily since you going to change the oil after you clean it up I'll would take some mineral spirits wash down though all of openings, let marvel mystery oil soak in each cyclinder turn it over so all the cyclinder be down from the top fill up let sit. A lot of dozer have hydraulic park brakes it has to be running to release. Some old ones had a grease fitting you could pump some grease in to release not sure with yours. Thanks for the video

It would normally have water leak out of lose head regardless of any in cylinders because water circulates through head. It's not bad. It will run and probably be fine. Old oil will be a mess. Don't turn it over much until you change oil.

And i agree about the muffler, its going to need some work to it. 👍👍👍👍 That head is difficult to take off, i think it could be Seized. On there. So a minor correction on the glow plugs. The strip that joins all four is called a bridge (it bridges power from one to the next, not heat). The actual heating element is on the tip of the glow plug, sort of like a cigarette lighter in a car. You can test them by putting 12V power to it and ground the body, it'll glow orange on the tip. If it doesn't, it's junk.

Thanks for another great video Wiley and Jacob. It was certainly interesting. I do not know much about these dozers. This one has obvious engine problems and the tracks are locked up. My thought pattern is how much money will it take to get it moving and running in respect to how much money you can get out of it. You want to make a few dollars in the process. This might be a situation of where to draw the line. Your decision sir. Know you know where to draw that line. Thanks wiley and Jacob. Please let us know what you decide to do with it. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
@DontbeWily

You are right It is only worth so much and where do you draw that line ? Head Gasket has not come in as of this comment but its 150 bucks. Hopefully head repair will be close to that Maybe its not a serious issue with transmission Thanks for the comment

I'm jealous, Wily. I think you're gonna have a nice little dozer. Those cylinder walls look good! When you were finally able to spin it over with the starter motor, you got 2 thumbs up from me. I look forward to seeing your air compressor running and you being able to use impact tools and blow dirt and crud out of your way. It will sure make things easier and save you lots of time. Sorry about that poor little frog. He must have gotten in there when he was very small, maybe even a polly-wog. What a lousy place to grow up???

Recently discovered a penetrationing oil. Superzilla, I have had good luck with it. Love to see you try it on the tracks.I also thought you might make a concoction of some kind. Maybe ATF, + MMO + Acetone. Put that in a pump up sprayer. Wet those pins down. Every chance you get. Couldn't hurt! BTW, I share your love of MMO. Use it constantly
