I am impressed that Jabob got the manifold bolts out with that few of problems. Do you think the manifold filled with water and froze, causing the manifold to crack, kind of odd, 31:02 not that it matters at this point. There's not much value left in that old girl. Thank you, Wiley and Jacob
Thank you Willy. I would bolt each of those transport cables to a vice grip😅
Another great vidio Willey sad to see these pieces of farm equipment to far gone when something covering the intake and exhaust would keep the water out. I'm sure someone could have used it. Be safe and Thanks

Very good job and God bless y'all
I agree Wiley, the heads would have to come off. The exhaust outlets are looking really bad, i think with that kind of build up of rust. The engine mughr be locked up. Oh ya thoes pistons are looking really bad Wiley, the engine has to come out and get reworking done it

Piece of history there for sure and that was a 5.9 liter deere i think .. And your talking about big combine harvesters i have seen the next gen Case will have machines that hold 600 bushel and pushing 900 horse engines

Most farmers would say i dont really miss that machine but i do miss how easy it was to fix and the fact it did not have enough power to hurt itself like the new current machines @@DontbeWily
Now they know what their buying good job Wiley and Jacob

You can't save them all Wiley but, you've had a lot of successes recently.
That is a 329 JD engine. It makes about 100 HP. I have the exact same engine in my 6600 JD combine. I even ran my combine today as I put 🙃 a 643 6 row narrow head on it. That head is a 13 ft. grain head. Have the exact same head. 50 ft. Max on new machines. These old JD combines are damn good machines and are pretty easy to work on if you know 😉 your way around them. Paid 5500.00 for mine back in 1993 and has been reliable ever since with regular maintenance and the usual parts that combines require. I know it's small compared to new ones, but the million plus for new ones and the headers is unobtainable for me. If you open the back window on the cab, the seat will then fold back out the opening to gain access to the drive out of the engine. Just make sure that you put a nail or cotter pin in the slide shaft that goes 😉 up to hold the seat up or the whole damn thing will slam down on top of your head when you least expect it. Don't ask me how 😅I know. Ouch. Then you can use a wrench to help free it up if you 😉 need to. If you don't, then you won't! That engine looks like it's toast 😳 unless you wanna stick some green paper in it. Give er hell guys!😊

Maybe that guy will buy it for parts?
Only takes takes a second to cover the exhaust with a can and would of saved that engine from water damage.
When u turn the key on u should hear the fuel pump turn back at the tank there should be a glass build back there at the bottom of the fuel tank to if someone hasn't taken it off

The hour meter said 2732 hours Wiley it probably be a good parts or rebuild motor but them tires on the combine you can probably sell them to a farmer or even someone running big mud trucks they run them big tractor tires too.
If I remember correctly, the JD head model numbers usually (on that era machine, anyway) would include the width...so, a 213 header would be 13 foot, a 220 would be 20 foot, and a 222 would be a 22 foot, etc. We had a 6620 and a 7720, and I'm pretty sure the 66 had the 220 head, and the 77 had the 222 head. I've got a video from my family's wheat harvest from 1991 up here on KZread, if you care to take a look sometime!

I really wanted to drive my first one. Maybe next time
If they had just covered the exhaust that engine could have likely been salvaged
22.00 water freeze and busted in that manifold probably
Mr. Wiley I greatly appreciate what you do , I have been watching you and hank since the being, am old school Road Grader in Florida, but it's just my opinion hank is becoming a wannabe celebrity, and you have kept to the original purpose

I'd bet there's a few gallons of water in that crankcase based on what the pistons looked like.
That a late model 4400 329 engine fit a 4030 tractor
✌️
👌👌👍👍😄😄
lol you go thru the cab to get to engine
You might as well walk away you’re not getting it running unless you pop head off and get all the rust out cylinders and free up all the rusted valves etc…
Should you enemy the oil pan from the combine John Deere

Once we took the exhaust manifold off. I sorta, kinda knew that this engine was toast. If all that up top would have looked good then we would have drained the oil
It’s 13 foot😊

Just for curiosity, what is the scrap value of that combine, and is it possible to 'de-combine' it, but retain cab, body panels, chassis, & hopper, -removing tje bulk of the belts and mechanicals of the un-needed portion?
@DontbeWily
7 ай бұрын
I would say $400 He may not take that He wanted 800 but that was before we seen the engine was Junk The cost would be loading and hauling Not sure of scrap price.
