Sidenote: If you haven't already figured it out, all the bridgertons got their names chronologically. So the eldest have a name that starts with the letter A, the second eldest with a B and so on... 1. Anthony 2. Benedict 3. Colin 4. Daphne 5.Eliose 6.Francesca 7. Gregory 8. Hyacinth I thought that was a really cool way of telling the age range of the sibling wihout actually to explaining it.

The actress that plays Eloise is in her 30s haha you guys called it. As is Penelope. The Bridgertons are named in alphabetical order of their birth. Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth.

I just love how instantly captivated (as you so rightly put it) everyone who reacts to this show is by Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (actors name Rege-Jean Page), either they fall in love or lust with him or they just instantly think he's the coolest guy on the planet because of his swagger and as good as become his entourage.

This has probably been suggested before, but another excellent British period drama series is "Downton Abbey." It takes place a century later than "Bridgerton", and it has a very different tone, but I think you'd enjoy season 1 at least. You might give it a try.

There's Lady in reference to Lord, but also lady in reference to gentleman. Daphne does not have a title, but she has been raised to be a lady (and a gentlewoman), someone whose behavior follows certain rules and makes her suitable for a gentleman to marry.

Agreed! Surprised season 2 got so much praise. The chemistry was lacking to me and the story dragged a bit. Season 1 was so good!!! Chemistry off the charts & much more interesting stories with the different characters.

This series is based on a series of historical romances written by Julia Quinn. This first season is based on the first book, The Duke and I. The second season, The Viscount Who Loved Me, which was also highly popular was based on book 2. I think your opinions on some of these characters may change.

When she became eligible for marriage, the family of the young woman would present her formally for the first time at the court of the ruling monarch. This Presentation was the young lady's social debut, which is where we get the word 'debutante', the young rich and powerful woman who has been presented to Society as eligible for marriage and one of Society's own. It is expected that during the Season any unmarried young woman who has been Presented will set about finding herself a suitable marriage. Or at least, her father or brothers will. Once you were Presented, you could attend balls and parties with your chaperones to be about the business of landing an eligible bachelor lordling.

Yay! Love to see a guys perspective on this show. My older brother totally pulled an "Anthony" on me in high school. The guys were afraid of him. I remember feeling so bad about myself. I found out at the end of Sophomore year and I shut that sh*t down.😉

It's actually 4 sons and 4 daughters but the younger two don't get a loot of screen time because they are still children. All the Bridgerton siblings are named in alphabetical age order: Antony Benedict Colin Daphne Eloise Francesca Gregory Hyacinth

Fun fact: corsets were NOT uncomfortable. A corset is meant to fit your body perfectly and women would wear them all day. It even helped with their posture! The only documents we have saying they were "making women faint" were written by MEN. The same ones who knew absolutely nothing about women's anatomy. The only time a man actually wore a corset around that time to see how it's like he said it was actually very comfortable. There are also drawings from that time (from magazines and newspapers), but those were usually satire. Yes, the silhouette for that time was usually "big shoulders + big hips + small waist", but that's because of the puffy sleeves and big skirts. They didn't need to actually make their waists smaller. That wasn't a thing and I hate how every TV show and movie still pretend like it was.

Also, these are not corsets, but stays the precursor to corsets. They come in long and short according to the trends and what activities the lady will be doing. Men also wore corsets for posture and holding pudge in the acceptable proportions of the time.

30:16 Ok, here's the names of the Bridgertons in order of age Anthony Benedick Colin Daphne Eloise Francesca Gregory Hyacinth I think their mothers name is Violet. The book series dedicates one book to them specifically. Season 1 focuses on Daphne, season 2 focuses on Anthony, season 3 is going to focus on Colin. There's a prequel season confirmed focusing on a young Queen Charlotte (in real life she was rumoured to have 'black ancestry' something like 10 or 15 generations ago, this show is an alternative history where she was in fact black and that her marriage to King George III as good as broke down race laws in England - by all accounts they had an affectionate and loving marriage (and they don't just say that because they had 15 children) until his mind started to go, we're still not 100% sure what was wrong with George III though). People are hoping that this show will last until we get to Francesca at least, the ultimate dream will be for it to continue till we have eight seasons in total.

I can’t believe you guys got into Bridgerton. I loved it but it doesn’t seem like your usual show to react to. I think you’ll enjoy it though. Eloise is the best character by far. Claudia Jessie just gives her so a much snark in her portrayal. The way the book series is each book centers on one of the 8 Bridgerton children finding their soulmate. That’s why there’s 8 books. First book/season is Daphne. Next book/season is Anthony.
