Male chinchillas will try to remove fur ring themselves it is their natural habit, breeders don't suggest check it too often because they will lose this habit and it will be more problematic if they can't do this themselves. I usually suggest once a month and definitely before you do it yourself have your vet do it for you as an example, typically check for fur ring need two people (one hold the chinchilla, one check for fur ring). If you are not confident just go for the vet!

Schwope Kids omg, my chin’s name is exactly Mika too lol! She does already have a video going to PetSmart and PetCo, it’s called “Chin Vlog - visiting PetSmart and PetCo”, where she tells about her experience there. Also, from my experience, those places do have good toys, but if you want to get toys ahead of time or anytime, lots of places online have toys. Some places I like are Small Pet Select, Amazon, or chinchilla websites! Hope this helps!!

Sewing for service dogs yes, he still has a penis despite being neutered. Therefore fur rings are still possible

- S u n x h a l o - all I know is that 1. Chinchillas don't really bite they usually intensely sniff 2. No not really, maybe when traveling around a cage-they can bark as well though 3. They think it's fine but don't do it for long 4. I guess lol some are open to a new owner and some aren't 5. Yes!!nfjdjdjd chinchillas can actually get very scared from other house pets so it would be better if you kept them distanced :) hOpE iT hElPeD

They will get over heated if they are held too long but it honestly depends on if the chin likes it or not.

1.Yes when I got my chinchilla Romeo he would bite me a lot ( He stop biting when he got used to me).2. Sometimes but not that much. 3. Some do and some don't so just remember that all chinchillas are different and that when I got first Romeo any time I tried to pet him he would bark at me but he warmed up. 4. Yes just randomly at play time my chinchilla would just dart across my room 😅. 5. Yes keep all your other pets away from your chinchilla because cats and dogs are predators and chinchillas are prey animals so even if they don't look scared or stressed out they probably are.Your welcome ☺️

Elvis for the hair floof on the head, and I just like Elvis and Pikachu because they look like a modernized Pikachu lol! I’ve never had one but since they take dustbaths they may do it in the litter box and that’s not good. Maybe some pellet litter but try to keep him from chewing on it since the wooden pellet litters will soak up the pee. But I like Elvis as a name better but pikachu is cute too. I hope you have fun with him!

Most chins groom down there regularly so it won't be an issue till he is much much older or if he gets sick.

I would say no because rabbits Cary a disease called pasteurella and it is a thing that all rabbits have. It is a respiratory disease and it can kill chinchillas, so thay can transfer it very easy

oh my god i had a moment of weakness yesterday at my local pet store. Someone had brought in there chinchilla cuz they couldn't take care of it anymore and I saw it and immediately asked an employee for help! They were telling me about it and then told me that it was a he and I unfortunately had to back out. I have a female and I didn't want them breeding nor did I want to buy a whole other cage. If it was a girl I totally would've brought it home!

A breeder is more expensive but the chins are more socialized then a pet store and the pet stores are cheaper and I think some will give a free veterinary check to see them off as healthy but it doesn’t matter where you get one to me as long as they are happy and healthy.

You can put a piece of granite in their cage so they can go down there to cool down

Here I know someone who builds little marble boxes for chinchillas. Maybe you can find someone in your area. You can use ice packs and wrap them in some cloth. Also you can put some pieces of tile around the cage and your chinchilla can sit on them to cool down.

I have a question! Are essential oils safe to use around chinchillas?:)

No! EOs can give them respiratory infections. From what I've heard it's not advised to use EO's around pets in general, ESPECIALLY ones as sensitive as chinchillas. There is a chance of it being poisonous to them. I wouldn't risk it AT ALL if I were you.

I read somewhere that this happens more often in the breeding period, but if your chinchilla doesn't breed it doesn't mean that he has 0% chance of developing a hair ring.

To add on, I do it by myself. If checked regularly it doesnt become a problem. I use my fingers to pull it off and bag balm to keep it moist.

@@raelynnviana8092 most boys actually usually have them. That's why its important to check once a month, whether it's just a lil fur or not it needs off. They arent perfect and wont get it all. In my chinchilla group its recommended to check once or twice a month almost irresponsible not to. I've made videos of me doing it so others can learn, the only rule is never hold on to the penis. If they move, get them, but let go of it. Have bag balm or vaseline ready. No vet needed unless there is inflammation or they stop peeing. I mean who wants to pay another person 60 dollars for something so simple that most exoctic vets suck at doing. Trust me, they get trained but that doesnt mean they always know what to do.
