I have been carrying a GR1 since 2012. It’s still going strong. The OG has Velcro under the handle for the water bladder tube to come out. People whine about the price but mine has lasted, the materials are excellent and it’s u.s. made

The laptop compartment is for the weight plate not the bladder. This is from the notes under the long plates, the 45lb plate discussion implies the 20/30lb long plates go in the laptop compartment. : "If you have a GR1®, we recommend the Long Ruck Plates® - 20LB or 30LB. 45LB Ruck Plates® only strap in securely to the 20L/25L Rucker and Long Ruck Plate Carrier, however they will fit into the interior elastic pocket of the GR1® (suitable for upright weighted rucking, but not ruck PT aka burpees and bear crawls)."

Great video, as always! I have several of the older styles of GoRuck. (It's an illness.) They are awesome, as they are nearly indestructible. I like the changes with the nylon, as I can attest to the abrasion from the material, but as someone else said here, I wonder if they aren't sacrificing quality with that change. I do wish they'd make a 500D line that would be more in line with the everyday EDC'er who doesn't need the 1000D. But I guess that would make it not a GoRuck. My biggest complaint with the company has always been the price. But you get what you pay for.

Nice review, I think you hit the nail on the head with the versatility of the pack. I went with a 25l Rucker 4.0 and it’s been great for EDC ( added an organizer to loop field after tucking plate pocket flap ) fantastic for rucking and good for a weekend of travel. You get 4 grab handles with the Rucker, hi vis lining and 2 plate pockets that accommodate my laptop and tablet. With the Rucker they include sternum strap and heavy carry ( I’ve done 50 lbs or so ) has been reasonably comfortable..

No canteen pocket is a deal breaker. I want a canteen pocket on both sides, big enough for a liter bottle, deep enough for a smart water bottle and tight enough (or with a strap or other method to secure it) so that it doesn't fall out when the pack is laid on the ground.

I bought the rucker 4.0 about a month ago and I love it! Made my dog walks harder and longer because I went from 3 to 4 miles a day. I love it, I wear it around the house too lol

Thanks for this video Aaron. I’ve always been interested in these packs but they are a little too simplistic for me. I would agree with all of your lowlights of the bag. I like my 5.11 and Eberlstock Switchblade & Little Brother. Have you ever reviewed one of the Eberlstock products? I think they are well made and reasonably priced. Great informative video as always. 😎

Great channel, just a note on it being "American" but tigerstripe cammo originated with the south Vietnamese military during the war. American SOG & LRRPS adopted it.

Rucker for many years and I much prefer the 210 version to the old all cordura. Those would tend to shred most workout shirts; particularly anything merino. Also, I think they’re going towards including sternum straps. I’ve gotten a GR2 26 and a GR0 robic recently and they both came with them.

  • @wretchedmess

Love the channel, great videos. I thought that this GR1 would be useful as a good school backpack or bookbag... No sternum strap, waist belt etc. that you'd want for carrying a bit of weight. I was absolutely gobsmacked to see it costs $355 dollars!
