The voice-over on "Child's Christmas in Wales" is Marty Robinson, long time announcer at Chicago's WTTW, which presented the program for PBS. And Tom Dunn's reminder that "we will always need your help" remains one of the most honest things I've heard on public broadcasting.

My god I've been looking for that Santa/Reindeer animation for most of my adult life! Thank you! You wouldn't believe how many times I tried to explain that bumper to friends, who of course never knew what I was talking about. I definitely feel like I was very young when I saw that, which would put it in the late seventies/early eighties, but then again it looks totally different from what I remember too. Oh well, thank you for that closure/memory!

It first surfaced on youtube I wanna say around 2007. I hadn't seen it since about 1988 but it was exactly as I remembered it. I have saved it since and each year this time of year I play it quite a bit, just as I would have seen as a child growing up in Boston in the early 80s. I *think* there was also the same dancing Santa/Reindeer for WGBX 44 but I have yet to see it surface anywhere.

Wow, did Tom Bergeron make his rounds in the Boston media. Just him appearing on a non profit station without the fear of breaching his contract with Ch 4 (if I am not mistaken) is pretty charitable. He was a celebrity in our hometown. I miss those days.

Public television is noncommercial, which may have been why he got to be involved in a pledge drive.

Nice upload. Brings back memories. I was a 10-year-old fifth grader living in Quincy. I always loved the dancing Santa and Reindeer bumper. TY.

The neon WGBH synth logo scared a LOT of kids over the decades. As a Boston native I got to see it more often than around the country as there were both local and national versions of it. It scared and fascinated me at the same time.

Peter J. Wiggins I still think of Tom Dunn as the "new" WGBH announcer taking over for William Pierce, even though his voice was last heard on channel 2 some 22-23 years ago and I believe both have since passed away.
