West used Goldilocks principle on India, will have to change its approach as India rises: Jaishankar

#ThePrintUncut
Foreign Affairs minister S Jaishankar said the West has supported India's growth in the last 70 years by using a Goldilocks principle - they didn't want India to be too weak or too strong. Now, as the world becomes more multi-polar, it is in the West's interest to forge a new alliance with India, said Jaishankar.

@@GauravSharma-lj3zz Well, the fundamental flaw of a Parliamentary democracy is that a minister (Finance or otherwise) has to get elected unlike the Presidential form where the best talent can be brought on from the private pool. That is one main reason for dearth of real talented people holding the offices. We can just take a random shot at who can work better among the elected which not always translates to Man/woman for the job at hand.

Gaurav, it's all happening...slowly, all the pieces are fitting to complete the puzzle...patience is a key word here. In a democracy like ours there are many twists and turns, this slows things down, but the pyramid has a solid foundation. 70+ years of education and freedom has created a youth force which is unstoppable...and this is evident, more each day. We have to learn to deal with speed breakers, find solutions rather than complaining about the breakers being there. I am not just hopeful but certain that we're heading for the top.

You are right. If India doesn't see why Brain Drain is happening, and why younger generations born here can't see anymore why they have to suffer corruption & unhealthy greedy living in India and that they have to suffer here for choosing this culture, even when a few opportunistic Diaspora or Brain drained talents going to the WEST will be celebrated by Indian govt, don't they see the same govt is inducing THOSE WISE SOULS living here with a 'Hope for themselves and for Family', to become ANTI NATIONALS & TERROR SUPPORTERS (as what happened in Kashmir with a attack on Indian Army) . Am I wrong? And then they want to show the Media, that a few Anti Nationals are showing India as a bad culture, just to gain Dollars & attention from Trump & the west. Is this what we learned from our INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT sacrifices and after how the British treated Indians when they put a board to a club "Indians and Dogs are not allowed". Such a shame. and BJP will have to count its days and Indians don't see that Rahul Gandhi and Nehru were BETTER PATRIOTS than Modi, even though they failed themselves, in NOT isolating India from west, like China, post Independence.

Indian high cast or elite don't even know what independence means. Imagine the opposite. The Indians didn't fight for, or even ask for, independence from Britain after WW2. In other words, what if India and the UK were one country? Britain would be wanting and asking independence from India. After all, India is bigger than the UK. If UK + India is Antarctica, then UK is an iceberg. So, India wanting independence from Britain is a joke, a sad and stupid joke, which makes India a beggar and got the separation of Pakistan. Okay, if India and the UK are one country, one democracy, may I add. Now, can you count the votes? Who will be the Prime Minister of Democracy UK + India? British or Indian? I hope you can see now that India's independence from Britain was a great gift from India by Gandhi to Britain, and in return, India got the separation of Pakistan because beggars can't be choosers. In the end, all Third World leaders beloved by the West are traitors to their own people, including Gandhi, Mandela, etc.
