Every 90s kid in Germany knows this movie especially the boys out there. It is a Clut Classic which even had impact on the colloquial language and some of it's catchphrases and quotes found their way into the common parlance. It's still one of the funnies German movies to this day and one of my all time favourites!

Werner was THE comic back in the 90's :D There are 5 movies but the first one is still the best. In the fourth "Gekotzt wird später" literally translated to "Puking is for later" there is finally the second half of this game. It was brilliant :D

You cant imagine how much Werner meant for us guys in the 90s...We knew every single line of the movie and drove on the backseat of our bikes that it looks like we are driving choppers...

“Zwietracht-Stadion” translated correctly to “Discord Stadium”.

The guy with the cigar is later introduced as Werners craftsmen master; Röhrich. He was first namend after the craftsmen master of the comics author, but he had to change it because of a law disput. After that movie, Röhrich became a legend and a Synonymous for nearly every craftsmen master and nearly every craftsmen trainee can tell a similar story about his master

The Werner comics were very faboulus around bikers at this time. I still remember the whole bunch of us heading to the cinema and get wasted as we were looking the movie. The owner also selled Flensburger beer so we had a really good time watching

In the USA, we use the song "God is Nigh" (commonly known as "Taps). It is used in military funerals and lights out. Most Americans are unaware of the lyrics.

We were reading the comic books under our school tables in the late 80ths. Then the movie arrives in the early 90ths. I was sitting infront of the VHS-recorder with the remote control and freaked out like hell inside every time when the &€#@£¥$¢ private TV crash the &€#@£¥$¢ advertising into the best scenes.

Little fun fact: When the ball lands in the pan, at the end and Werner sais "The ball has fallen into the frying pan, it gets bigger and bigger until it blows up" That was never meant to be for our ears. When Werner actor Klaus Blücher was reading that scene he got himself so deep into that role, he kept on reading and "The ball has fallen into the frying pan, it gets bigger and bigger until it blows up" was the directors note to describe the next scene. After that scene, Werner inventor Brösel looked at him "This is an original gag Werner would say, we keep it" the rest is (german) history

Brösel's Werner is awesome!, but if you cant fully understand german, you miss out on like 90% of it, because its mainly based on the "wordwitz" (the choice of words) and the accent, that make werner truly glorious!
