Respect to that young brother at the end with the afro that said he went for a job interview, and I love the message he left off with....I truly hope that young brother makes it out and he is alive and well

I worked with young people from this hood and many others in LA. Man they dying fast and on opposite side of the spectrum I worked with burnt out gangsters trying to find an apartment and get ssi. I encourage those brothers to give back to the youth. Each one teach one tho..it's all of our responsibility to do more in our communities.

The biggest word in there vocabulary is politics 😂
Gang bangin today so much different than it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Hell, even the 00s. Back in the 70s it was like... On some political shyt. The 80s was about crack, Regan, and the war on drugs. The 90s was about lifestyle (hustlin and bangin). That was when money was flooding the hoods. 00s was about the race wars with the Mexicans. 10s to present seem to be about social media. IG and Twitter bangin. Gang bangin always been toxic. But at least back in the day it somewhat served a purpose: political, war on drugs, survival, racial, etc. But today... Bangin literally serves no purpose. Other than for likes on IG. Most of these cats weren't even born when the beefs started with other hoods.

Back in the 70s it was the tail end of the civil rights movement and the beginning of white flight, plus the west was in pretty deep shit then too. the oil crisis, Gamel Abdel Nasser nationalizing the suez canal, independence movements in Africa, plus a whole bunch of leftist shit running round like the Weathermen. I wouldn't be surprised if the gangbangers back then also had heavy political shit to deal with that sort of world.
One slang sentence that I seem to see the same throughout all hood slang across the country is " I'm not gonna lie"

Man, I’m not letting a single soul tell me what I can and can’t wear. I pumped gas solo in Inglewood. I sat and ate at Roscoes. I wear my hat. The difference is I’m not on tip and move around accordingly.
