Guys... As much as Vasher chaps are awesome, what got me hooked in this book was Lightsong. The walking philosophy bomb. The Chad who doesn't even try. The hero we all needed but didn't deserve

Maybe a hot take, but i think Warbreaker would be amazing for the first cosmere movie. It's not too heavy on CGI and set requirements when compared to mistborn and stormlight, and it's got a good self-contained story.

I feel like the only thing, its not the most amazing of sandersons novels, if it bombed saying Warbreaker broke the cosmeres chances would hurt immensely.

@@passdoutcouchpotatos I assume sanderson would rework it a bit, and I think with a bit of modern sanderson love, it would be great.

Adolin has specifically called out uniquely dual colored hair, and he has had a unique influence in Maya. It makes me wonder if there was more to his mother than we know.

Yeah, I think mothers of a lot of these characters need more investigation. There's the Shallan's mom's a herald theory. There are the questions about Kaladin's mother's family. And I remember picking up that there was something significant about Evie's family besides the shards they held.

I just wanted to post some appreciation for the time-stamping so I could skip all the Wind & Truth chat / Sanderson update. I'm trying to avoid any and all spoilers so I can read it all myself on release. So it's appreciated.

"i'm just asking questions, brother" I love it hahaha, but i'm officially a believer in a Dalinar v lifeless Gavilar for Tournament of Champions theory.

I think one of the MCs will end up being corrupted and become Odium's champ, but for Kaladin it doesn't make much sense. Odium has already tried to make Kaladin his champ in book 4. Seems odd to retread upon those same grounds. The only two characters we can probably rule out as Odium's Champs are Dalinar, and Kaladin, because they've already both rejected him. My money is on Adolin becoming corrupted. He has anger issues that are entirely unresolved so far and will make him susceptible to Odium or an Unmade's influence. He becomes not only Odium's champion, but also avatar. Setting up a Father vs Son fight for the ages.

@@sowercookie Hey, he is a fashion trendsetter, accomplished duelist, aide to the mentally ill (Kal & Shallan), and the first to make progress in reviving a deadeye. Don't sell him short...but yeah, I could see him being corrupted...I don't like it, but I could see it happening.

I read this after mistborn era 1 (the hook)and rhythm of war catching up with stormlight. For me this book was a big ahhhh vasher is zahel and vivenna is Azure and nightblood just being nightblood. For me it was this was many things clicking into place, a mystery I was looking at that finally made sense.

Hi guys! Just checking in. I just got home so the timing’s off for me. I’m gonna wait till the podcast is done and then listen from the beginning. I recently read Warbreaker for the second time, as per your suggestion, Christian, and enjoyed it more with some Cosmere background. Thanks.

Soooo.... is there any connection between the Nalthis Royal Locks colours and a Rosharan Lighteyes eye colour? Up till now we've just assumed Rosharan lighteyes get their eye colour from whatever order of Radiant their distant ancestor was in. But....

When we are introduced to Hoid in WoK we have the heralds looking for him in the pure lake region, describing him as having white hair, but he changes it occasionally, and the very next chapter Wit is introduced with black hair. Hoid has one heck of a back story out there somewhere! Could he be descended from royalty??

Warbreaker is good, but it is definitely not required reading before WoR. The "payoff" for reading it it first is minimal, at best. The connections between the various Cosmere books don't REALLY come into play until re-reads. Only with full context and analysis are the connections really impactful, imo. Also, the connections are absolutely not linear - the books are all inter-connected in many ways.

When I read the book I mostly read it for the siri chapters and partly for lightsong. I just found her whole situation so interesting and fun to imagine and read abotu and I thought her relationship with the god king was adorable. Vasher was also interesting, but vivenna was such a slog, I did not care about her. Anyway let's get back to kaladin already!

Do Knights Radiant even age after bonding a spren? I mean the stormlight heals them so why would the body still age?

  • @althechicken9597

    @althechicken9597

I think stormlight healing is very dependent on how you think of yourself, so I would imagine they still age because of their perception of aging, but I'm not sure

Lift ages, and she sees herself as a kid. Or maybe she doesn't deep down. Perhaps they age, but don't get wrinkles or any age related diseases, since stormlight did heal renarins epelepsi. I would imagine that someone who had held stormlight at one point in their life would live longer than others, since the stormlight might heal any unoticible chronic diseases that could come up later in life. But also, I might not be remembering this 100% correctly, but I think teft said that his grandfather had a problem with his knees during highstorms and teft still has that problem as a radiant, so he probably sees himself as having that or something. At the very least I know he complained about it in rythm of war when he wasn't able to heal, so my earlier theory doesn't hold up. Though, I think that this kind of healing would depend on the person. and perhaps it depends on how young or old the person was when they used stormlight. I need a WOB on this

How is an author not going to preach of the power you get through reading? It's right there with taking a hard stance on librarians. Anyway, I think the restriction of reading is about control of information. If the god-king were to learn how to read, he may learn how to escape his fate. If Rosharian men could read, the ardents would lose one of their main sources of control.
