As a biology major, I felt at home with all the wordy scientific pontifications. Reminds me of rereading articles over and over to understand, because academics can’t help but yap 😂

As someone with prosopagnosia, I was hooked by the premise. I'm also hopeful it gets people interested in face blindness to perhaps increase scientific research into it. Especially understudied is congenital prosopagnosia, or face blindness you're born with, largely because it is difficult to recognize even by those who have it. The brain compensates it other ways (for example, my voice recognition is keen, and I will 100% notice even the slightest trim of a person's hair, because hair is one of the features I learned to zero in on growing up). Because of that, it's difficult for people to notice it in themselves, and others just assume you're "bad with names," or rude. (Note: If you assume this of yourself but realize you are actually great with names once you remember who you're talking to, maybe you have prosopagnosia.) I wonder, given I do have traits I can recall on others (namely hair), if the 'grandpa' I'd grow would just be like the ghosts from Bly Manor--I did not realize at first they had no faces. Maybe my monstrosity would just be a faceless approximation of some other figure.

I think "it" was intrigued by Adrien's innocence & kindness, she just didn't want but also gave. It wanted to grow and leave in order to live, but it gave her good parents, basically turning it into a bittersweet ending.

I played Growing My Grandpa through both endings and thoroughly enjoyed it. I never would've heard of it, had it not been for Markiplier's playthrough that he posted a little while back. It's not the scariest game I've ever played but the story is truly one of the most fascinating, in both concept and execution, that I've ever experienced in a video game - ever. It feels like a blend of certain creepy/sad dreams I used to have as a child, where I was nervously exploring dimly lit basements and hallways, all alone, finding weird things that I didn't understand. Combine that with the music and sound effects and the whole thing felt eerily familiar to me. It matched up so perfectly with random emotions and sounds I've heard inside my mind for a long time, just going about my daily life. Hard to explain. I can't believe that this silly little game, ostensibly about feeding and caring for a creepy pixelated pet, managed to reach so deep inside me and make me FEEL! Parts of it were so bittersweet I wanted to cry. This is above and beyond anything that I would expect from a random $10 game on Steam - holy crap! Yames deserves to be properly internet famous for this one. I think it's the best they've made yet. Thanks for making this video review! I hope more people play or at least watch someone play Growing My Grandpa. The story is so rich - I would be psyched if someone wrote a more detailed novellization or perhaps a serialized theatre of the mind style podcast of it, adding more to the story, music, and sound effects. It just seems like too fascinating a story premise to leave solely confined to a point-click adventure game (I'm sorry, "ambient horror game" - I like that label!).

I think we are currently living in the platinum times of horror games. Indi-gaming is easier to create, and trends for retro and ps1 style is just one heck of the best gaming expiriences. Yet, with new tech like neural networks and advancing tools, I want it to one day make a step into ps2 horror era. For that moment we have Glass Staircase by Puppet Combo and Alisa (yet it more in ps1 style), but I think that in one moment it will be easier to create pre-rendered backgrounds to really catch that res'evil-esq games. And games like this Grandpa is always great addition to it.

This game has a pretty interesting concept and the art looks cool, I really like what some indie devs do from time to time with horror games.

Well, as this is the third video of yours I have laughed out loud at some point due to the abrupt bout of humor, it would be a crime not to subscribe. Good vidz! As someone that cannot play scary games myself, for being an absolute coward, the stories facinate me. And i feel safer listening to ppl tall about it than experiencing it haha, so channels like this are a godsend Keep up the great work! (And dog is adorable).
