I’ve had this week free of classes and spent the entire week procrastinating, probably because the first assignment due (out of 5) is one that I’m really not interested in and is therefore acting as a road block for everything else. I also don’t have any routines since leaving my full time job to go back to Uni so it’s harder for me to keep my engine running. My ADHD really needs help, but my ASD can’t cope with living with other people. It’s times like this where I get a bit envious of people who don’t have ND struggles, or who were diagnosed young enough, and get on with their ADHD meds so they have the experience to cope better. No such luck for me, but the one thing I did learn from my late diagnosis; was that as long as I keep reminding myself that I do have a weird brain that sometimes doesn’t cooperate, and I at least prod it in the right direction from time to time, it will fire back up and I’ll get on with things again. Also, many years ago I worked in theatre as a costume maker, so I had to do a lot of laundry. Can I suggest two things? The more you think about getting your clothes washed and packed away, the more you will procrastinate on it. It’s the one area where I don’t procrastinate out of habit as once the show was over, we had to collect everything, wash, dry, iron, make any repairs and get them back to the dressing rooms before the next morning. I launder my clothes, set them aside and once a week, first thing, I wake up, and hit the clean pile before my brain has the chance to think if it wants to do it or not. In that way, once a week, every week, my clothes pile is sorted. Kind of like a mini reset. Secondly, have three baskets, one for ‘needs washing’ second, ‘worn but can be worn again’ and a ‘clean’ basket. I don’t have this as I have very little clothing, so I make do with a single basket and the back of a chair for my second wear pile. But with the amount of clothing you have, it is much easier for you to have designated space where you can chuck it in and deal with it once or twice a week rather than have it constantly underfoot and potentially cluttering up limited brain space as well as home space.
