I made a discovery on this map.....you can put a traffic circle on top of a single tree. It reduces the number of roads you Dan connect but can really help on this map

Yeah! I discovered that in the last Rio de Janeiro challenge that had the Wood You Kindly. You can only put roads at a cross section, but it still helps a lot depending where single trees are on the map!

@@Retroflux most round abouts usually have tress, decorations, or shrubs incase people drive through them so I could see why the devs added it as a feature. Could also be a bug tho, a cool one nonetheless!

@@Retroflux Well it only works if the tree is in the middle of the roundabout, so it's probably intended.

This map is always brutal, even normally, for some reason. 11:55 was hilarious though, this game has a way of just ruining your freaking life

This map knows nothing about personal space, it spawns anything anywhere 🤣

0:58 I just played Dar es Salem last night in a regular game and had a spawn like that. Its seriously a messed up map.

Something I've done is make 2 colors share a motorway, like at 11:00ish you could have light blue and yellow sharing a motorway, I assume that's slower though since you would need a roundabout or something to avoid a big intersection

If you're lucky, you can put roundabouts at both ends of the motorway and have maximum profit.

I've been watching a lot of your videos recently and really enjoy them! Keep up the good work ^.^

I got a nice 4k on my first run ... I was really happy with that. I had 3 dark blues all clustered but it just didn't feel like I had enough houses to feed them, as all the houses were scattered around the map so was really hard work to get them all connection correctly. Everything else was dead easy. Always enjoy watching your videos.

This was definitely a brutal map. I lost track of one destination and lost out at 1,125. Excellent work on your score for this one.

The light blue going through the dark blue round about at the bottom could have just gone around once you cut the road out the top, that might have helped with the dark blue strain at the bottom

Just did this weekly challenge. Was able to achieve infinite on my first run at around 9k, I just let it run until 40k.

Good stuff, I was wondering if this one had that potential. On paper I figured it could, with enough circle destinations to keep the houses spawning, some careful planning would be enough to get it done!

I still hope they add one way roads as a reward.

Mate I'd LOVE just a yield sign at this point - something to guarantee that one stream of traffic will yield to oncoming traffic. A no-entry sign is also pretty nice (just another way of implementing a one-way road that might be easier for them to code in), but we'll see! It's been a month since the last patch, so they might have a lot to bring forward soon.

Wish there were more maps with more trees. I like em environmental friendly. Wish there were parks too

Parks would be a cool edition! They could make it so that you have to use two roads per tile to get "approval" to travel through the park!

So I just bought this game and I’m pretty terrible with a high at about 2500 and an overall overage at somewhere around 1250. What I really love so far is that there doesn’t seem to be any one or two strategies that can break the game and turn it into easy mode once those strategies are mastered… the only way I can improve is through practice and watching better players and seeing how they solve problems. I think this is one that I’ll enjoy for a long time.

I can confirm that, although I've played it to death and have "mastered" it, there's still something to improve on even after 80 hours. Good luck getting better, there's lots of content out there to help you now :)

My first try was 1909 although after watching this video. I've blown the chance to control the spawn in the lategame which killed me eventually...

I scored less than 400 for my first two tries, and finally getting 2481 on my third try

Jesus Christ dude. I really like Mini Metro, but this game looks like it's on a whole other level. Idk if I could ever play this game. haha

Mini Metro is very easy to determine if you're gonna survive or not, this game... there's so many more variables. I love the challenge, but I do miss the simple routes of Mini Metro sometimes!

At 9:22 what were you deliberating on? I'm new to the technical side of the game, so any explanation would be appreciated. As far as I could make out, its something about correct turning onto roads, but I dont get why you build your communities like you do.

Hiya! So the map has a mask on it for spawns of each colour; that is, you can generally predict the future spawn locations if you know the map well enough. When I grind out a high score on a map, I can begin to predict and plan the optimal layout for an entire map! What I'm doing here is gently nudging the game away from spawning dark blue there, in favour of a different spawn location. It's a risky strat, because the game may just not provide you with housing if I can't find a valid option, but with such a large proportion of dark blue destinations in the south, it's best to risk it. I'm not familiar with the spawn mask for DeS, so this was the best I could do with the information available. ☺️

Pretty sure the traffic lights you're adding to "driveways" are, if anything, harmful. Destinations/houses being connected to roads don't count as an additional road for determining if a point is an intersection for the car slow down logic. This means that houses that connect directly to a road don't cause slow downs in front of them.

This also means you can optimize traffic flow a bit by drawing the roads to avoid intersections that slow down traffic. For example, at 18:46, drawing both roads to the red circle building results in no slow down interstions, resulting in faster traffic flow.
