WEEK IN MY LIFE IN TOKYO 🇯🇵 shopping, costco, teamLab PLANETS (most instagrammable place in jp?)

Grab a snack for this one, I cut some stuff out to make it under half an hour 😂
WARNING: FLASHING LIGHTS AND BRIGHT COLORS IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES
If you're new, hello! I'm Allison, a grad student and English teacher in Tokyo 🌸 Welcome to a Week in my Life in Tokyo~
Filming vlogs is fun but editing them is kind of a pain because there's too many clips 💀 So I hope you enjoy!! I did two in a row...so rare! I was just feeling in a vloggy mood heheh. Will do another one after I start my second semester of graduate school in April! 🥳
How are you guys? I'm pretty good these days!!! It's nice to be stress free for a bit, since once I start writing my thesis and attending classes again I know I'll be KO'd all the time 😩
So I had a pretty busy week. Mostly shopping, work, a special trip to costco, and ended it off with Team Lab PLANETS!! Suchhhh a cool exhibit! It's seriously one of the most instagrammable places in Japan 😂 ....if I had a better camera. I definitely recommend going in person though. My iPhone camera just wasn't able to handle the bright lights and colors!! I really want to get a new one! :( Hopefully sometime this year!
Please like the video, leave a comment, and subscribe for more videos like this in the future if you haven't already 💕

Don't worry about shopping too much. As long as you are not going into dept or not being able to eat and pay rent you are doing fine.

Hi Allison! I really liked todays video and I also liked your outfits. Nice to see you're having fun in Japan, I've always wanted to go there and possibly even live there (when I grow up, I'm almost 14) but I don't know, I'll just see what the future has set for me. Anyways I can't wait for the next video! (Also you're my favorite KZreadr in Japan and you're really cool 😎)

The word you were looking for is stockings for hose that doesn't go all the way to your waist. Also, ARE THOSE GRAPES ON A CHEESECAKE?? WHAT??? I need to try that. If your makeup is powder, it's probably fine, but if it's super crumbly throw it out. If it's liquid, throw it out. Pencils should also be fine if they're the kind you have to sharpen, but plastic-encased pencils will likely crumble to pieces if you try to use them. I definitely learned all this the hard way lmao. Your videos are so relaxing, thank you.

Great job on your Channel!! I just discovered it. I will be travelling to Tokyo, as soon as we can that is! I have many questions about learning the language. Where to start? Is it important to learn or could I get by, travelling with my adult kids?

  • @AllisoninTokyo

Thank you!! Ah if you’re just going to travel in tourist areas then honestly you don’t need to learn it, but learning the basics wouldnt hurt if you’re interested! Tokyo is definitely the most English friendly Asian city I’ve been to (that doesn’t speak English)! Nowadays if you download translation apps and things you can get by, but if you learn hiragana and katakana and travel-oriented phrases your life will be a bit easier here 😂

The cherry blossom pajamas are so adorable! 🥺 I'm sure you may have answered this before, but where do you teach English in Tokyo? Is it a high school, elementary, college? Also, when does the school term start? Someone told me it was April 8th, but that's on a Thursday.. Is it usually like the second week of April or something? I'm curious 😆 Also also, teamlab planets looks very similar to teamlab borderless! I wonder what the differences are... I don't think there was a water area in Borderless though 🧐 also, Borderless was in a place called Palette Town-so it was Pokemon themed! I think you would like the area! It's also got a HUGE ferris wheel that takes about 16 mins to go through (I was absolutely terrified but wanted to go on it bc one of my favorite animes, Honey and Clover, has that ferris wheel as its sort of theme) ANDDDD you can see Rainbow Road from there 😄 If you consider a hanami vlog...... I think that would be super precious 🥺 Have you watched Rilakkuma and Kaoru? Why am I asking so many questions? I'll stop now 😂 These vlogs are so soothing to watch first thing in the morning 🌸

I teach at an English conversation school for kids now, but I used to teach at an elementary and middle school! :) And yeah I think it does start on the 8th this year 😂 Not sure why 😳 Oh really!!! I want to go there and check it out 😳 I didn’t know they were so similar though 😂 If there’s pokemon then I need it 😩 And ahhh yes I saw it! I want to do hanami but unfortunately Tokyo has banned it this year so I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance 😭😭 Maybe next year if I can’t this year

Even compared to a few years ago there are definitely more choices available now 🙏

You can’t shop too much in japan! The way I justified it to myself when I lived there was like you had to buy less each trip because I could only buy what I could carry! So if the haul is smaller more trips is fine 😂
