Weaving a Baby Blanket Using a Pickup Sticks Pattern-PART 1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I'm warping my rigid heddle loom and I’m starting the weaving of a lovely baby blanket. Next week, I will be sharing the rest of the weaving pattern and I will be finishing the blanket. In the video, I share with you a mistake I made while warping and how I manage to correct it. I also use two pickup sticks to create an intricate pattern in the blanket. #rigidheddle #weaving #loom

THE PATTERN
I have created a blog post about the weaving of this project where I provide all the details about the pattern for free. Here's the link: curly-n-yarny.com/weaving-a-ba...
THE YARN
For this project, I'm using Lion Brand's yarn from their Truboo collection. The yarn is actually made of 100% rayon from Bamboo. I used 3 different colors:
- 1 ball of Mauve (purple)
- 1 ball of Silver (light grey)
-3 balls of Slate (dark grey)
Here's where you can get the same yarn: shrsl.com/3yk0g
THE BOOK
During the video, I talking about The Weaver's Idea Book brook by Jane Patrick. It's a great book that gives a lot of inspiration. Here's a link where you can check it out: woolery.com/the-weavers-idea-...

Greetings from Melbourne Mylena, I hope you are well. Lovely blanket. Divine colours. I have noticed that on some pick up stick tutorials, the pick up stick, once inserted, is flipped on its side. Is there a reason you leave yours lying flat? Looking forward to the next part.

Greetings from Canada 😊 That is a good observation! The pickup stick position would depend on the shed it is used in. For this project, I'm using my pickup sticks while weaving in the the up position. So this is why I can just let it sit flat. It's also possible to use the pick up stick when the heddle is in the neutral position. This is when we would need to flip it to its side in order to creat a whole new shed. I will try to add a clip where I explain this in my next video 😄
