This was really interesting. I have inherited that kind of heddle and thought I would make a band at some point, but haven't yet. This was really useful to see the concept of it in use, making me more inclined to pick it up at some point when I have some grasps of what to do with it.

Thank you! I didn’t know what the pattern meant. The patterns have traveled around a lot! Many old Karelian patterns feature old goddesses in geometric patterns so I can easily believe that this pattern has some kind of relation to those patterns. I must try to find that book. I hope it is available in English or in Finnish as I don’t understand Belarussian or Russian.

@@withmyhandsdream I don’t want to upset you... So far no one has translated this book into English... I can only translate it into Russian. If my husband helps, then in Polish. This book is very thick (large). I'll have to quit my job to do the translation... не хочется огорчать... Пока никто эту книгу не перевел на английский язык... Я могу перевести ее только на русский. Если муж поможет, то на польский. Эта книга очень толстая (большая). Придется уволиться с работы, чтобы делать перевод...

Oh. Too bad then. I can’t speak any Slavic languages. Finnish is completely different and I don’t even know cyrillic alphabet! But I may find some other books. It would be interesting to compare the meanings of different symbols around the Eastern Europe. I have a book that explains some meanings and names for some symbols but a lot has been lost and many old symbols have been given new meanings. Like the ancient goddess might now be a mother or Virgin Mary instead of the original pagan symbol.

@@withmyhandsdream Yes you are right. M. Katsar has such symbols - Aranta. In my file you can highlight words and translate them using Google Translator (Belarusian-English). I'll try, but it will take time. Will English suit you? Although some symbols are conventional. He interviewed elderly woodland weavers. Many people don’t remember well Да, вы правы. У М. @NVeslava I’d be delighted if you would but it is your choice if you want to take the time. I usually translate everything into English as English works best when you translate. It is almosy useless trying to translate into Finnish.

Its so hard to weave for me but its an art to you. Salute 🫡 ❤
