WEATHER PREP FOR PRIVATE PILOT CHECKRIDE
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Flight instructors and students wanted a video that would teach weather prep for the private pilot practical. This video explains some of the most important parts of aviation weather. If you're a student, this will help with your checkride. If you're a veteran, you can use this video as a refresher. If you're an instructor, please feel free to share and use with your students. My goal is to help improve the safety of general aviation through education. #checkride #aviationweather #meteorology #private pilot #weather #jpdice

Nothing better than a long video with someone who knows what they're talking about and can teach it so people like me can understand 😂
For two years I’ve taken courses, read everything I could find, watched everything I could find as I train for my PPL and this is the best video I’ve found on the weather aspects. You’ve covered 3 Sporty’s videos in one simple and easy to follow video. Nice work.
You definitely have the cadence and tone of a meteorologist, I love it! I have my PPL checkride coming up, and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you and blue skies!
Wow thanks for making this. Amazing info for a student pilot
I’m prepping for my checkride and honestly weather has been dry to read about. Enjoyed your presentation and making it interesting!
Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I'm preparing for the knowledge test and the checkride, and this is so valuable.
Thank you creating a real instructional video. No ads no distraction and someone who knows his stuff. Again thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing - Weather fascinates me .. Been a private pilot for more that 4 decades, this was really a nice refresher on Weather! Those thermals .. are amaizing!!

Hey, just wanted to say this was a terrific video for ppl check ride prep. Really helped me understand a lot of concepts that were otherwise fuzzy for me. Will have to rewatch a couple of times to really let it sink in. Thanks for all the hard work in putting this together.

Thank you!!!!!!
Really appreciate how you explain this with the relatable images & text. By far the most concise and well articulated video on the subject I’ve seen so far. Definitely shows you’re a pro at this. Thanks again for sharing, absolutely priceless.
This is great. Scheduled my checkride Oct 25th
This video was phenomenal! Great job explaining all the charts and data I wasn't familiar with. Will recommend this video to anyone
Great video! Im a week out from my checkride and weather is my biggest struggle. this video breaks things down perfectly thanks!
So good, thanks a lot!
I’ve been looking for a video like this-I love the more in-depth explanation videos, and I feel like PPL ground school gives such a bare-minimum overview of weather. Thank you!
one of the best weather training for new pilots, many confusing topics got cleared away, i hope you make a buck or two in the mean time.
Best review by far.
Great video! I really appreciated how you explained where weather observations/forecasts come from and also how ASOS/AWOS systems work. I had never heard of the GOES-R satellite either, very interesting information in that segment as well. Thanks!
Excellent presentation. Thank you. First time in my life I listened to a meteorologist in its entirety. lol
Great summary!! Thank you Thank you, Joel Neuman, CFI, AGI
I was watching this video on break at work, and I’m in the charlotte are. One of my co-workers blared out, "who is watching that video, I know that voice anywhere". he said he use to watch him on the news back home in Alabama. That’s JR (forgot what he said was the last name) That's the only weather man I could ever trust. Thank you for the presentation, I’ve watch all your videos, and really appreciate the breakdown.
Super informative, taking my ppl checkride in 1 month so this is very helpful! wish me luck
Thanks!!
found my new favorite KZread video
Excellent presentation Sir! I'm an volunteer Air Observer for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and also a Private Pilot Student on a Cessna 172, getting ready for my ASEL checkride in June. Your presentation help me a lot to understand the weather. I really appreciate it!
I learned a lot. Thanks for the presentation. My checkride is coming up, wish me luck.
Why doesn't this guy have more subs? Some online course like Sporty's or King should hire him
What an amazingly informative presentation! Very well produced and excellent cadence with easily digestible material. Thank you Sir!
Thank you! this is helping me tremendously. wish i had seen this before I failed my oral :/ Great stuff !
Thanks cause I didn't know where to look for this information
Been following you since you were a meteorologist in Bham. I didnt realize you had a KZread channel but now I am a subscriber.
I watched this video once before and already hit "thumbs up", so this time I feel I have to leave a comment saying thanks. Great checkride prep! One question I have is what answer to give the DPE when he/she asks, "where did you get your weather briefing?" and my answer is "ForeFlight". I suppose I should list the official sources used by FF.
That is my phase, you don't know what you don't know. I started in Nov 2021, I didn't know what is an aileron, about to do my checkride. As I learned there was more on each subject. Thanks for the video on weather
Just found your channel. It’s great. I have my check ride next Friday. You are a big help pulling it all together. 🛫

Thanks! Very informative and timely for me. Thanks for all you do!
Still learning even after I acquired my private
Wish I saw this last month when I was up all night freaking out about weather. Luckily my examiner barely discussed weather just the requirements. Ps. It’s my birthday today 21🥳
Excellent information for pilots. Thanks for sharing!

James-Paul Dice it’s going to be a go-to for my private students...
Thanks. My check Ride is this week. I am glad I found your video!
Hello i just watched a video on weather that you made like 2 years ago and I am not sure if this is an update to that but the video was amazing. Is it possible that you can write me back and tell me in simple terms what is airmets and sigmets, and convective and explain low pressure and high pressure systems and cold fronts etc Thanks again
Minute 6:19 " wind direction is in magnetic heading" NO it is presented in True Heading.
Amazing post, thank you for posting. Where can I get one of those light up maps?
Thanks for this video! Where did you get your U.S. map that is behind you?
totally random question but where is that map you have behind you from? it's so cool!!! is the lights symbolic for VFR/MVFR/IFR/LIFR???
More than, or at least in addition to, baud rate, METAR is coded so that it can be more easily understood by automated systems. People can learn to read coded information, but computers until VERY recently have always had a lot of trouble reading "plain english"
On cloud height it’s AGL unless it’s a graphical forecast I think they use MSL on those😮
Where did you get the metar map from? I must have one lol
Can you send us that form for the weather. This will make a good checklist for weather. PS, I am a student pilot and I do have minimums.
How old is your METAR? All I see have the time frame syntax as 0512/0612
KORD.....the Orchard
I want one of the maps on your wall!!!
Although I enjoyed your channel, I wish that you would please use a marker to explain what your looking at on the screen. You audio part of your presentation doesn't do the object on the screen justice. Just imagine you were standing in front of a white board and the student had no idea of where you were looking.
Why doesn't METAR, TAF and PIREP have same coding sequence or format?
Weather can change in 5 minutes. I have seen it happen.
I wish I know 5 percent of what he knows ;).
autoplayed after gamerfrommars video
Wind is true not magnetic

Depends on what weather observation data you are reading
Excellent presentation
