This channel is about making your flying safer. Whether you fly a Piper Cherokee or a Gulfstream, understanding weather is vitally important to the successful outcome of any flight. One of the leading causes of fatal aviation accidents is weather. I'm a meteorologist with over 25 years of experience who happens to be a flight instructor and aircraft owner. We now have more technology and data than ever before, but are we maximizing it? This channel goes beyond the weather briefing and helps you use all of the tools at your disposal and gain a better understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

Awesome video, every PPL student should watch this
Wow thanks for making this. Amazing info for a student pilot
What a great channel, thanks for sharing your weather knowledge with us. Really awesome.
checkride in 2 days!
Maybe you have a video of this already, but what is the actual impetus of fog? There are plenty of days in north Central Florida where the temp and dew point spread was 0 and no fog, just dew. Then there are other days that it’s surface fog (10 foot off the ground) and then some days it’s thick until 10am. What are some of the reasons or ways you could predict what you’ll be looking at in the morning?
Absolutely enjoying these presentacións, thank you!
Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I'm preparing for the knowledge test and the checkride, and this is so valuable.
Still learning even after I acquired my private
You're amazing thank You please keep putting out you great videos.
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and helping us pilots understand weather better and be safer with our family.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!!! What a lesson! So happy to have found it.
I want one of the maps on your wall!!!
Great video! Im a week out from my checkride and weather is my biggest struggle. this video breaks things down perfectly thanks!
Did you pass???!!!
Excellent presentation
Thank you so much these videos have been so helpful in understanding aviation weather! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you!
Thank you for sharing and putting so much time and effort into this!
Thank you
Hi JP, thanks for the video. Could you explain about the map in the background with the LEDs for the conditions of the airports?
I highly recommend this video. Weather at the private pilot level is obviously not rocket science and a lot of people know their stuff, but this guy is pretty fantastic at explaining things really well and emphasizing what is important to know at the private pilot level. This will basically be all I plan to study on weather for my check ride.
You earned my subscribe. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Your knowledge and ability to explain the various topics in a simplified manner has been great! About 2 weeks out from Checkride and happy to have found your channel!
WOW!! This is incredible!! Serves as a great primer for the meteorology book I got from the university book store.
Thanks for the great videos JP. On the skew-t chart, when the dew point and temp come together does that always indicate a cloud layer at different altitudes?
Love it good info
You’re back! Thank you for your videos. Excellent content!
I'm so happy that you're back. I even wrote you an email at one point. Love your content :))
Hey, just wanted to say this was a terrific video for ppl check ride prep. Really helped me understand a lot of concepts that were otherwise fuzzy for me. Will have to rewatch a couple of times to really let it sink in. Thanks for all the hard work in putting this together.
Such great videos! Thank you!!
Check ride is coming up this week. This was super valuable! Thank you so much!
how’d you do man! i have mine coming up in just about a month!
Sounds like everyone is saying the same thing that I told you on the train from White Plains, yes that was me. You deserve a lot of views for your contribution to aviation education. I learned a lot from you. This year will be my checkride year so really excited. I am a little jealous of your students but my old school instructor has been great. Thank you JP
Awesome! You were an inspiration for me to get back producing videos. I was on my way to do an aviation weather segment at Fox News in NY when we met. I had flown our Citation up to HPN and we were in town for a bit. Where are you learning to fly?
I fly out of Danbury, CT
So good to see you back! Please, continue. I get more from your content than just about anywhere else.
Glad to see this channel back! I found your videos extremely helpful, and watched several of them multiple times when prepping for my PPL this past year. I have recommended to others and commented I was sorry to see it end. Excellent content!
Glad you’re back Ace!
Good to see you back I remember watching your Skew-T video and how to predict a flying window days in advance and it TOTALLY transformed my weather planning - so much so that I am constantly sharing the link to the video and trying to teach others to use that technique!
Thank you for coming back and posting. Your channel is a hidden gem.
Thanks for the informative video. When navigating "semi-VFR" by looking for and diverting around rainshafts, how can you avoid flying under a cell which is developing but not yet mature? In the developing stage of the storm, there is no rain yet, correct? So isn't there a chance you could accidentally end up directly under it when it transitions from developing to mature?
Great question. Part of the determination is looking not only at the rain shafts, but also looking at the vertical development of the clouds. If I can visualize it, I will try to fly under clouds that are less vertically developed. You're right the radar will only return precipitation.
Good video JP!
Nice to see you back posting videos again. I really enjoy your aviation weather videos and hope you keep it up.
A couple of years ago I did turn to your channel for a deep weather understanding. I hope you keep this going. Good stuff
Thank you! I plan to keep this going. I had no idea the demand for aviation weather videos.
Wow! Fantastic video! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. The effort put in to create this video is evident!
Thanks for sharing - Weather fascinates me .. Been a private pilot for more that 4 decades, this was really a nice refresher on Weather! Those thermals .. are amaizing!!
I’ve been looking for a video like this-I love the more in-depth explanation videos, and I feel like PPL ground school gives such a bare-minimum overview of weather. Thank you!
You definitely have the cadence and tone of a meteorologist, I love it! I have my PPL checkride coming up, and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you and blue skies!
So good, thanks a lot!
No such thing as government funding. It’s tax payer funding!
I’m getting ready for my ppl checkride in 3 weeks and I feel pretty lost when it comes to the weather portion. I’ve really just done all my stuff locally so this is so helpful in showing the bigger picture and how to plan accordingly. Thanks and I can’t wait to watch all your videos! Thank you!!!!
Hello J-P. I am a student pilot, nearing my private checkride. I have a fundamental question about weather and I think you may be the best person to ask. Would you be willing to answer a question? If so, What is the best way to communicate with you. Thank you. Josh
Awesome presentation, nice meeting you on the metro north thank you and keep the videos coming
That spanish was brutal
This videos are amazing. Lots of practical information and the best part is clearly communicated.
