Aviation Weather - Ground School
Note: This was a first attempt at recording a safety seminar, the audio quality is not great, and the audience was not mic'd, but... the information is fundamental and is a great primer for both Private and Instrument students, or an old dog needing a refresher! Originally presented Feb-2014
----------------------------------------------------------
Original Description:
A free ground school seminar presented by Jonathan Walter of Walter Aviation Inc., covering basic aviation weather. Part of a series of free ground schools offered to pilots and public alike.
First attempt at offering these ground schools online live via a webinar format.

I bet this guy never thought that this much people would have learned about weather through this video. And I know a lot more students and instructors are going to be stopping by to watch this. Thanks for helping thousands of pilots!

Walter.....im 49, from the UK and your class on weather is exactly why i want to train in the US...dud my PPL and Dispatch. Licence there....I understandcweather more now; with ref to aviation, than any course i dud previously. I am a visual learner and cannot just learn from black and white txt books, like the UK. If you teach CPL ground school, please can i have yr companys details? Would be interested. Thanjs for bothering to share your knowledge.

Where on Earth did you attend College? This Instructor desperately needed to have written a Script ! Discursive and rambling narrative. Sorry. Thumbs down. Read, yes actually Read, the Iowa State University Press book entitled "Aviation Weather" which is the definitive course. Period.

Well, I learned something new with this…….the fact that the anvil of a thunderstorm is the jet stream! How cool!!!
I cannot thank Jonathan enough for making this video. I have seriously struggled putting all the pieces of weather together until I watched this brilliant video. Jonathan’s an amazing instructor.
So much better than reading the book. I watch this pretty often.

@@WalterAviationInc that's insane. I am coming back to studying weather and got this notification as I opened KZread University
I saved this video to my favorites and ever once a while I come back for a review. Thanks for your work.
Probably the best aviation weather video I've seen on KZread. Thank you.
We had GS of 700kts going to SFO from Japan, coming back it's like standing still. Our TAS505kt,ISA. Truly enjoyed your lessons.
I can't tell everyone how much this video cleared up all of my questions. Great video!
Best presentation on weather I have ever seen
Very good, I’m a commercial student in final stages of checkride prep and this is top notch real world Weather instruction
I have learnt wayyyyy more on this video in 4 days than I did in the last year doing cpl and ppl ground school. Great job!!
What a vividly explanatory Weather seminar. I wish I could be on his class for this part most boring and hard to understanding section out of all the other aviation topic, He made far more interesting and even funny. Great very talented instructor.

Lovely video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (search on google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for how to get pilot license minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got amazing success with it.

Watching this in Dec 2020 listening to the ADS-B conversation, thinking back with nostalgia about the 'before-times' when receiving traffic and weather info digitally was the most of our concerns...

I'm glad that individual asked the question about how high humidity equals lower air density. I didn't realize that water vapor is lighter than air! Knowing that makes more sense now.

Thank u sir for this video!! 😀😀
You need to have an updated video because this was by far the best resource on weather and surface charts!
This is a great video. Very informational. As a former Air Traffic Controller you are absolutely right about the controllers are there to ensure your safety and there to help. If someone isn’t comfortable with talking to ATC practice practice practice because nothing is scarier for a Controller and other pilots around when someone comes into an airspace that isn’t familiar with using the radio or just fails to make simple radio calls.
Learned so much from this. as a low hour Recreational VFR pilot in Australia....Not all applies to the Land down under. However the basics really helped. Thanks.
