Randy sucking at Guitar Hero is so appropriate for people who play guitar. Guitar Hero is shockingly difficult for real guitar players because none of your guitar skills carry over. It requires things that are bad form if you actually play guitar.

Lmao. I don’t know. I started playing guitar when I was about 9 and was able to shred pretty decently by the time I was older when Guitar Hero first came out. Obviously I wasn’t *immediately* good at it, it’s not as if they’re even remotely similar after all 😂 But at the same time, after a few tries I could get through expert pretty easily just because finger dexterity and rhythm is indeed a thing that transfers over. But at the same time, I will say that it’s way easier to play a lot of those songs on a real guitar than it is on guitar hero. I mean, a six string has typically around 24 frets, lol. Reducing that down to five buttons but keeping every note is definitely strange and alien for most people. There’s no real rhyme or reason to the buttons you’re hitting, which is the polar opposite or how you play a guitar.

Chef suffered a stroke shortly before the scientology thing... Basically he was trying to recover with his family and his church quit his job on his behalf. Chef didn't quit... he was sick and people spoke badly for him

The guitar hero episode is basically a parody on rock star movies. Getting recognized, hitting the big leagues, having a discourse with the og group where they split only to end getting addicted to drugs that led to a downward spiral

the Chewbacca Defense thing is actually making fun of a historical defense exactly like that, this was OJ Simpsons case, which is why they reference that in this episode. Basically in that trial, OJ was wearing medical cloves, and his attorney argued that since he could fit the bloodied leather gloves from the crime scene onto his hands (ignoring the fact that he was still wearing the medical cloves while attempting this) then it couldn't have been him. This trial in South park is parodying the nonsense of that, as the trial was still relevant at the time. And now, lawyers use the term "Chewbacca Defense" to refer to things in this episode or in the OJ trial where an attorney attempts to confuse the jury rather than present an actual case.

The Chrwbacca Defense was a reference to the OJ case but after this episode it became legitimate legal jargon

They need to watch season one... it's insane looking back at those ones

Fun fact, Ozzie Osbourne did not know the bat he bit into was real. He said as much in interviews. Someone threw the bat on stage and he thought it was a toy. He was shocked when he realised “oh no. It’s real. They’re the biggest carriers of rabies on the planet” and went to the hospital right after the show
