Fun Fact: George Clooney was such a good sport about Sparky the Dog that the creators later cast him as himself, in his ER doctor role, in the South Park movie. He accidentally replaces Kenny's heart with a baked potato.

Imagine how Brian Griffin and Bond from Spy x Family would react if they interacted with Sparky. Anya would be horrified if she saw Sparky making advances on Bond.

Damn are they fr just deciding to watch the entire show chronologically now? That's pretty sick ngl because whilst the show is obviously the most accessible when watched in fan favorites episodes to hook you in, there's a lot of gradual development when it comes to characters majority just kinda miss. The best one for me is by far Cartman's, like Cartman goes from a mostly defenseless, harmless, spoiled fatboy who constantly catches strays by everyone for every single aspect of his life into an irredeemable psychotic monster pretty naturally. Also Pip is a nice piece of trivia for the show. He's basically there to walk so Butters can run. He's like Butters, but if he didn't have any interesting character traits, personality or uniqueness and was just meant to be a punching bag, it's pretty fascinating if you ask me to see the comparison between the two. Pip always serves to BE the punchline of someone else's joke and can't stand on his own, so much so that his solo episode is pretty much universally accepted as top 3 worst episodes of SP, meanwhile, Butters can comfortably carry an entire episode, and for it to turn out as one of the fan favorites, despite the fact that in the most reductive way imaginable, they're essentially serving the same purpose as characters.

The episodes were so shocking, they had to watch it twice

To be fair Pip def fit that Proto-Butters role. Even if his design existed back then, Butters had no personality. His first substantial appearance was when Stan was stuck at a party with kids upstairs, basically Pip, Butters. and a third kid. Since then Butters would have more and more focus and Pip would eventually get killed off in 200. Even if They're not the same person it seems like there's a clear lin to Butter's popularity and Pip's decline in use.

The story behind voicing the dog is that George Clooney was a fan of the original short that inspired South Park and Clooney personally asked if he could voice a character in an episode and since thats something South Park doesnt usually do so Matt an Trey only agreed to let him voice a character if that character was a gay dog. They were kind o lf trolling Clooney but in a light hearted way. So, yes that is actually George Clooney.
