Mary please don't worry about keeping up with a consistent vid schedule for us! (Of course, if it helps you then do it) We'll always be here for you. I'm so happy you're surviving your first semester of vet school, and that you've been able to help some kitties again.

You are doing such an awesome job! ❤ These cats will be healthier by not being able to breed. And not added to the feral population. ❤

Hey Mary, would you consider doing a video on how to coordinate a relationship with a local vet(s) for someone starting out in the fostering/TNR world? Or suggestions on what to look for when first starting fostering or getting involved in a TNR organization? I think a lot of folks have a pretty good idea about supplies needed to foster, but not how to go about making fostering or trapping sustainable. Folks often say they love the idea of fostering/trapping, but are intimated with not knowing where to start. Thanks for saving the kitties!

You are amazing! 😻😻 I am a bit envious of your abilities to go to vet school AND TNR ferals! ❤❤❤ I have about 14 regular "ferals" that come to my porch to eat. (I put feral in quotes because all but two of them will let me pet them, or rather, INSIST that I pet them before breakfast!) 🤣😻🤣😻 I'd love to TNR them all, but I don't have enough people and traps to help me do it all at once like you just did. I think that it would be easier on the cats to catch and TNR all at once, rather than just a couple every day or so. Anyway, thank you for everything you do to help the ferals, and enjoy your time in vet school. ❤❤

I'd think it should work okay to do a couple at a time. Probably, it's sort of a whatever can be feasibly done is the best way to do it kind of thing. Mary did do 21 cats at once, but she got some from different colonies, didn't clear one colony all at once. I'd guess that after a few are trapped the rest get a bit wary too, so it has to be done with a bit of patience. And most of Mary's tnr videos seem to require a few goes to work through a colony. I'm sure it'll be less stressful on your cats anyway since you're on petting terms with most of them. Good luck with the project, it's lovely that you're caring for them ❤

Ask online if there’s a TNR group or a cat rescue in your city or county, or a city/county nearby. Contact them and ask how to Borrow traps and bring them cats. If not, coordinate with a vet and get traps from Tractor Supply or somewhere like that.

Fun fact, or it is if you like learning things: the "y" in "ye olde" isn't a "y" as in the letter that comes after "x". Its a defunct letter called thorne, which makes a "th" sound, and looked pretty much like a lower case "y".

Just curious, but do you return the cats to the locations you trapped them from? If so, how do you remember which cats came from where when you get so many at once? Lol this was my thought through the whole video so I’m super curious! Also I loooove that scrungly old man cat omg 🥺

Hello! I haven't done TNR myself, but I've watched enough videos from enough people to know that the cats all go back to the location they got pulled from, unless there's extenuating circumstances. (Dr Mary had an issue a while ago with the mansion where those cats couldn't go back there, I think the mansion was getting demolished? Or the property owner wanted all the cats gone?) As for how they know, I haven't seen mention of that so as far as I can tell they just remember

I love your work! And I am really interested in starting a TNR group myself. So I was wondering whether the females need more than a day rest? My vet told me that my boy was able to do everything right after the surgery while my girl needed to stay on the ground and wasn’t allowed to jump, I wasn’t allowed to pick her up etc bc of her wound. Now that sounds pretty difficult with a feral cat 👀

Between 6-8 weeks at the youngest. Most often this is done at 5-6 months. I had my first cat spayed at about 3 or 4 months. I wish I had waited a little longer with her to be honest. Nothing bad happened, she healed fine and lived til she was 17, but she got mean after that. Nothing too bad, I think she just never fully trusted me or any person afterwards.
