Kitten rescue: winter floofs in Brooklyn
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Kittens are born outside year-round in NYC, including winter time (at a lower rate). Those that survive their first 8 weeks must learn to fend for themselves. Thanks to you, we were able to give these four floofs the life they all deserve.
There are thousands of cats fighting to survive outdoors in NYC. You can prevent cats like these from ever suffering on the street. Visit www.flatbushcats.org/donate to join us as a monthly supporter. Thanks for making their new life possible!

Thank you for bring the kittens in to a warm safe place. It was very adorable to the black fluffy one nudge up his neck to lean in to the scritches given to him. It is so sad to see kitten being born outside but no one donig anything about it to help them. Cat and kitten resuce is not a easy task nor is it always a pretty sight to see. Thank you for going out side when it is cold to rescue them! As well as thank you for all the supporters and donors as well. Let keep helping cats and kittens!

We found two years ago a feral stray one-year kitty, who’s mother had passed away. It was during freezing winter near the sea in Northern Quebec, Canada, with very cold temperature. He was starving, wounded, frozen and feared. My daughter took him home and he clang to me as i am a bedridden old lady living with her. I am like his granny now and Ravioli is a very round young tomcat, peach and cream, with ears pieces missing but very handsome! ❤

It's understandable to feel sad that there are so many cats out there who deserve better. Or you can feel good that so many cat loving community members are taking action to improve their lives and prevent kittens from suffering in backyards and basements this spring. Or both. But the truth is, how we feel is less important than what we do. What matters is the actions that we take today to prevent more cats from losing their homes or needing help tomorrow.

I’m sure not all are thrown away. Maybe their owner died, maybe they escaped and got lost, maybe the family’s circumstances changed and were forced to move to a no pets apartment, etc. it isn’t always cruelty or lack of caring.
I must commend you and your volunteer's for all the love and hard work that is done to help so many precious kitties survive and fine their forever homes! Thank you. Just beautiful!!! 💖

Just love, love, love Flatbush. Awesome group.
My own two fluffy cats, a brother and a sister, are rescue cats. Their mama was a pregnant stray. My black/tuxedo cat also has a stubby tail like the one here, and is also much smaller than her brother. Her brother is a tabby just like these guys, and loves belly rubs just the same.

You absolutely have the best TNR videos. No drama or sensationalism - just the facts and the truth. Thank you for your incredible dedication. You will get donations from me! I also do TNR in Colorado and I have come to realize that homeless, stray and feral cats are primarily a people problem! If everyone could pull in the same direction, we could solve this situation. Unfortunately, I'm not too optimistic.

One thing that helps is passing mandatory spay and neuter laws at the city level. My own city did it maybe 15 years ago, and it's greatly reduced the numbers of unwanted cats in the city shelter.

I hope more people donate or rescue animals themselves (or start fostering)! I fostered one that went to my parents after and it was such a good feeling making a difference for a little being. Thank you!
Without TNR or rescues, even half-grown kittens as young as 6 months can have more kittens while still "teenagers" (adolescents) and perpetuate the cycle. This winter, it was down into the 20's some nights, even where I am a few hours from the Gulf Coast. My apartment complex has many stray and feral cats, with others who are dumped or abandoned periodically. A TNR group came through last year and TNr'd almost all of them, but none were rescued and adopted, they all stayed with the colony. My former little teen mama kitty got pregnant and gave birth slightly before that, so her kittens were still only 4.5 months old by the end of December when given away, and she was spayed over a month ago now. She's a keeper, rescued from under a car in the parking lot as a little kitten. If we had not found each other, she would have spent her first winter in sub-freezing nights, and one of her kittens probably would not have survived. They would have depended on handouts from the few cat-friendly people like me. So I am glad she has a permanent home with me and her kittens were all healthy and adopted out. But others are not so lucky. The colony of TNR'd cats and any new arrivals are still here, including a couple of friendly strays and a couple of very ferals I feed. I see them every day or every few days or weeks may go by without seeing them. Some don't make it. There's a highway right outside my apartment complex, and this is not a safe place for a cat or kitten to live without a home. Two, one stray and one feral, hang out somewhere near my apartment. The stray always wants back out after a few hours, but he doesn't have a permanent home. Myself and other cat-friendly neighbors see him regularly, and he hangs out mostly near my place, but patrols the whole complex. He shelters with me or another neighbor when it's too bad out. But the ferals are too scared to come too close even after over a year or two. One regular meows to greet me and ask for food, but if I get too near, she hisses, swats, and moves back, too wary. Some of them do not make it. Some are survivors.
Awww❤ they are so absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤
MY HEART!! The tabby's look exactly like my adopted kitty I got as an adult. So glad there are rescues like you❤

"But they have this chicken gravy stuff that might be worth risking it all for" had me laughing out loud. I'm a retired vet tech and have 3 cats that I brought home from the clinic. An occupational hazzard that has been very rewarding. When I retired last March, I brought home one of our clinic cats who is a senior and needs medication and some special care. Best decision I've made in years. He sleeps at my head and when it gets bitter outside I find myself waking up and discovering I am spooning him as he snuggles against my tummy for more warmth. Best feeling in the world.
