The fact two doctors thought there was enough reason to get him to do this test, which is used by doctors to determine if a person has brain damage is the real issue. What did they see that made them think he needs to be screened for brain damage. He paid both doctors a million dollars to never reveal the results of his test. Technically, that person could as well be the smartest person in the room. We can't tell that from the statement alone. What we can tell is that the person is most likely the one most obsessed with how their knowledge is perceived, which would psychologically indicate the subconscious assumption, that their level of knowledge and intelligence isn't the top one in the room... Otherwise it would most likely go without saying...

Actually it isn't. Assessing Mental Capacity is more complicated than that, and depends on the the context (Making a will? Moving to a care home? Deciding what to have for lunch?) The MoCA is just a quick screening test, administered by a health professional to pick out those who need a more comprehensive dementia assessment by someone else.

I took the comment as light-hearted with a serious point, which made me smile. Although the thought of my long-dead, totally dotty Nana with nuclear codes is a scary thought, your comment made me feel some hope that one day, you will see a woman heading the White House! Nana had dementia, but seemed to know that she had children, and would never have done anything to hurt them, even at the worst times of her condition; perhaps a Nana with dementia would be more careful with anything that had the potential to hurt her children? I'd like to think so.

It does seem very selective indeed, and if you were to design a test specifically for heads of government, a bit of logical thinking and pattern recognition might be more useful than memory and word association.

@@rjfaber1991 Indeed, its part of the reason, it needs to be administered by medical professionals, coz they have to take account of such things. Ppl with dyslexia fx. might be disadvantaged, while it has nothing to do with cognition. Some ppl are just not good at math (Im an accountant, met plenty of those ppl, thats why they have me! doesnt mean, theyre in any way cognitively impaired). Some ppl have difficulty with spacial orientation in general, which would influence the drawings. And so on.

The fact that he found the brain damage screening assessment to be so challenging though.....completely oblivious to the fact that endlessly bragging about being cleared for a very specific type of brain damage actually raises concern.

I’m 60, and have recently done a test similar to this, and was referred to the hospital for tests, as I didn’t do great. I have a friend, who I have known for 40yrs, and his Alzheimer’s has escalated quite quickly, in the past year. He’s forgotten so much, and it’s heartbreaking. He was a 🇬🇧 politician for 40yrs, and hardly remembers any of it! And before that, he worked down the mine, as an electrician. When I spoke to him, on the phone last night, about 9.30pm, he told me he had just gotten up, and had breakfast. When I told him it was night time, he was quite confused. An hour and half later, he said, “ right, I’m going to nip out and get some batteries”. I told him it was nighttime, and again, he was confused. As I realise that my memory is slowly going, and am not sure what I’m doing, when it comes to simple tasks, it scares me. I used to be a uni lecturer, ( can’t remember the words to put here) teaching I.T. Now, I don’t know how to use my laptop. 😢 But one thing about it all, is that we both laugh, especially when we both forget the same thing. My fella says we are both nuts, and we agree!😂 60 is young to have the beginning of dementia. So, if you know someone with memory issues, encourage them to see their GP.

I suspect he didn't pass the test. If he didn't he wouldn't allow it to get out. Remember the physical done by Dr. Jackson where trump's height was reported to be taller than he is (can't remember specifically) and his weight was 239 pounds, the upper end weight limit for that height. Hey, so do I! This not an indication of any problems with my brain, I take time to say what I believe to be true. Trump, on the other hand, has deteriorated recently, while Biden seems much as normal. Trump sounds like a small child choosing which lie will work best with mama.

Here I am, a year later.... and still shaking my head.

As the name of the test isn’t that important, there’s a good chance that his doctor (or any doctor) won’t even bother telling him what it’s called. We were only told in the video as background info in a video specifically with the purpose of explaining things in mote depth.

Also: (1) Has he taken the test multiple times to get a better score? (2) Is even telling the truth about his score? There is no good reason to believe he would tell the truth, unless it was *very* likely someone would contradict him, in my opinion. The test administrator probably has no good reason to put his neck on the line just to call out a single Trump lie, so I'm led to conclude we should just discard Trump's claim of a passing score entirely from the outset, given his credibility with outrageous serial lying in the past.

Laughable and sad that the defining moment of a President of the United states is "Person, woman,man, camera, TV".

I'm 86 and have to do one every year to keep my driving licence. My doc has to sign off on it completely and tells me my scores It's really easy - the only one I had to think about was spelling 'world' backwards. Try doing it quickly when you are on the spot. I'm in Australia where it is compulsory after age 75 or 80. Scary to.think of people with dementia driving unsafely in the US. H

They were just being nice. It's the same test for the Medicare Wellness Annual Exam. It's meant for those over 65 on Medicare. Not for those who are younger. So the test is no big deal! We all know his problems are accepting the truth and delusional thoughts. Grandiosity!

Astir01 problem is that the elderly would be a group that it could quickly become very convenient for politicians to ignore when they can’t vote. :) The problem with “as long as you pay taxes” is that you can work and pay taxes whenever you want :)

Astir01 everyone that isn’t young any more, has been at some point, and is well aware of their own decision making capabilities at earlier stages of life. Also, the young will eventually age into voting rights, and most will have parents or other adult looking out for their interests. I don’t mind moving the age down to 16, but that needs to be followed up by schools giving kids the chance to build up the tools and confidence to make informed decisions. :)

I work with slightly metally disabled teens and we do a memorietest with them when they come to us. Many of them manage to remember around 5 to 8 out of 10 words and a lot of them can tell them in order. So hearing him talking about thinks like "noone gets it in order but for me it was no problem" and bragging about remembering 5 words in order makes me laugh.

He claims twice: "if you get it in order you get extra points..." AND THAT'S JUST NOT TRUE. I believe the test taker is given less then the full score if s/he has to be reminded.

It’s probably the only test he passed where he didn’t have to pay someone to take it... WoW! That’s amazing! 😯

Unless you actually seen him take the real test live don't believe a damn thing that he passed anyting

First: the test is not difficult because every must be able to do it. As you stated it’s not to measure intelligence but cognitive decline. Second: Trump did the test some years ago. In the beginning I thought he took it recently, but that’s not the case Third: that trump thought it was difficult is, in my eyes, a sign that at the time he was tested he could be in an early stage of Alzheimer. Fourth: why did he take the test. Who thought it would be a good idea. And final, rambling and falling over ones words can be a sign. Unless that person did that his whole life. And when you are doing the test, you can find it everywhere, and you fail on some parts, that doesn’t mean you have dementia. For example I have visual-spatial problems and dyscalculia. I can do the first question, but it take me longer than other parts. I also can’t remember numbers or counting back with 7. But when this was discovered I just got my propedeuse econometrics, cum laude. So not dement. I’m 67.

Jannet Berends, you are right, the test is not difficult but the test Trump took was a loaded test, loaded in Trump's favour that is. The five words that he continuously brags about being able to remember are related in that person, man, woman means that you only have to remember the word person and the other two will be easy to recall and TV and camera are obviously related especially to a TV host as Trump once was. The test taken by the two employees shown in this video used a proper sequence of unrelated words, and no I can't remember them. Trump cheating on his test again?

Ok. So Trump doesn't have dementia... but he does think passing a dementia screening somehow proves he's a genius.

I worked as a therapist in substance abuse and this test was administered to every client I had at intake. It was a measure of cognitive functioning that indicates if there is memory impairment, abstract thinking ability and other measures. It should only be interpreted by A professionals that know how to measure its findings. It is not the measure of a person to whether or not that person is Mental case or not. It only indicates the need for treatment.

Since I started having mini-strokes about 15 years ago I was taking this test the exact same test 6 times. For one thing they never give you words that are similar it's more like ball table cat leaf Etc. And if you're in your right mind all the questions are easy and I'm sorry but I've never counted 35 questions

In fact, while the video claims Trump passed, we have no independent source to confirm that's true. The only source we have is Trump himself, and anyone else in a position to say otherwise would probably be committing a confidentiality offence to say so. So did he pass? Well, he doesn't seem to remember/understand what that word-memory section of the test was about. You certainly don't get extra points for putting the words in order, which is the normal mnemonic way of remembering things. It's how we can remember a series of seven-digit numbers in the form of people's phone numbers. And you don't get extra points at both the first and later stages. So whether he aced thetest or not will probably never be known, but he certainly didn't ace the recall of the test.

I actually took a cognitive test a while ago after a traffic accident (insurance protocol) anyways are not hard in any sense, actually i think mostly anyone Even an average 6 years old kid can. Those tests are not designed to meassure intelligence, are designed to find short term memory lost and sometimes early brain damage. If someone has memory lost detected by the test then You do other things to find the root of the problem but the initial test is just a tool to find other potential problems. Passing it is routine not a feat.

It's 2024 and this popped up on my YT feed. I remember when this happened-- it was so ridiculous. But at the time I never saw the whole test. Thanks for showing it, as well as explaining all the background and purposes of it. BTW, your "Name The Animal Merch" link is no long viable. Is it no longer available? (I just wanted to see what was written in the small print.)

But let's see his college test scores. I'm guessing he got letters D, F, and not one clappable A. Well, he may have gotten an A in toileting, but maybe not. He probably pissed all over the toilet back then, too.

And one year later (2021) Donny (now the former POTUS) is still boosting about his cognitive test as if he done an IQ test for geniuses. It’s reaching the point of being more than pathetic.

Thank you for informing the public concerning the details of this test. Also thank you for walking people through the test. I have been curious about it since it was in the news and have wondered which of the tests it was that we studied in university 3rd year education psychology. Personally, I am a long term memory person, and this test covers short term memory more than long term memory. USA tends to value short term memory in candidates, but presidential problem solving actually requires strong long term memory.

I love that Trump's examples that he comes up with are "Person, Woman, Man" - three words that are heavily related, and then "Camera, TV", another pair of heavily related words. He's not exactly coming up with difficult examples.

I cant believe a former President is bragging about a cognative test.

That test is given to all elderly patients. It is a cognitive test which tests memory and recall, it is not an IQ test. It also tests the ability to follow instructions. This is a governmental standardized test that a ten year old can pass. I doubt if he actually passed all parameters.

It's embarrassing that Trump is making an issue out of this stupid cognitive test, and even stupider that the general public are making a bigger issue out of it. Such a dumb subject...

Donald Trump didn't make an issue of it. Members of the media are. Or, do you think this is Donald Trump's website? If, Trump made an issue of it he would be entitled. Considering, questioning his mental health has been part of the left's bullying of him for over four years now.

@@ebonysaintz9581 Literally nobody made any issue of it, until Trump started bragging about it constantly, often out of the blue while in completely different context. And its not the test itself, that worries me. Its how he clearly still does not understand, what kind of test it is, and what it shows. Its how hes feeling the need to go totally overboard "they were AMAZED, I did so well", as if he needs reassurance, while at the same time meaning if they were amazed, its coz they expected him to show cognitive decline. And its how his total lack of understanding and constant prattling about it shows some serious mental and intellectual problems, that very likely has nothing to do with cognitive decline, but are a lot more worrying.

One thing not mentioned in this video is the fact that these cognitive test are only given if there is reasonable cause to believe it SHOULD be given. So no matter how well he did, someone for some reason felt he should take it. The Dumpster never mentions that, does he?
