    Coming from a Pioneer 880-PRS, is something like this or a Hertz DSP going to be able to deliver the same sound quality from a factory head unit? How much quality am I going to lose?

    I got the NDS4610a last year for under $200, the blue-tooth is optional plus If i only use the front 2 channels input, the dsp cant use the front channels to output other channels beside the front. I wish they can refine the software and it could be a very good dsp for a reasonable price that's include toslink and coxial.

    From all the DSP that you guy's work with, what's your favorite brand or product?

  • @bbfoto7248

    @bbfoto7248

    4 жыл бұрын

    @bRandomFPV @craizygolf1980 Yes, the Helix DSP units are solid, feature-rich, and with excellent software. It's not perfect (nothing is), but IMPO it's the best. The owners/engineers at Audiotech-Fischer have actually listened to user's feedback and ADDED tuning features and improvements to the GUI & workflow in the software. :) And there are regular software and firmware updates for bug fixes, etc. A lot of SQ competitors are also now using the miniDSP C-DSP 8x12 v2 DL (Dirac Live) processor. Once the v2 came out it fixed all of their 1st Gen issues, and the addition of the Dirac Live auto-tune is a GAME CHANGER. The DL autotune feature can achieve what would take many, many hours or even many days of microphone measurements and tweaking in very little time. You still have to do some "hands-on" tweaking here & there, but it's pretty amazing what it will achieve with very little effort. You just have to follow a fairly specific procedure (like you'd do anyway when tuning traditionally). And the end result of DL autotune's Phase and Frequency Response corrections are WAY better & smoother than 99% of us could achieve on our own. The only area it has some problems with is in the lower midbass and bass frequencies, because Dirac Live wasn't really designed to correct the acoustic response in such a "small room" as a vehicle cabin. But it still does a better job than most of us can achieve!

    You need to find an RTA, microphone etc and decide on what is called a house curve. JBL and Audiofrog are pretty popular but there are a few options. This is the best tip, level match the ouput closely and always CUT eq not boost eq wherever you can. On the Audiofrog website there is a wealth of tuning knowledge. Get yourself a few cervazas, keep distraction free for a few hours and strap youself in for information extreme. Then, read it all again and again until you know it. Good luck from Australia!

    I have the same question. Please, if you can shed some light on this it would be quite helpful. As far as I am able to tell there is no clipping indicator. I have a DD1 but not sure how the process would work going from head unit, dsp, amplifier so as to make sure that there are no clipped signals from any piece in the process. Thanks Dean and Fernando.

    @Destaye The tubes are only in the "preamp" section. The main power output section is still just traditional solid-state mosfet transistors. It's not really a true "Tube Amplifier". I'm not saying it will sound "bad". Several other High-End brands use the same technique to achieve excellent results, such as the DLS TA-2 amps and some of TRU-technology's amps.

    When you decide to invest in a dsp, you should not go cheap . Buy a good one and enjoy for a lifetime. Everybody is coming out with a DSP now and most of them is just not good. If you need 12 channels of output, that means you are doing something serious so why would you not get a Helix Ultra and be done? No need to do all this guess work, and puzzle. Things should not be this complicated .

    Dude , not everyone has $1500_$2000 to spend on a dsp but everyone deserves to hear excellent tunes. Even if it's an entry level dsp, it can change an ordinary sound system into something the listener can fall in love with.

  • @SubigarageIstanbul

    @SubigarageIstanbul

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@colbydolby6559 I agree, you should not waste your money on separate dsp, and amplifiers. You should get one dsp amplifier and be done with it. Match M5DSP is a tiny 5 channel dsp amplifier that can run a full system for example and it costs around 600 bucks. Since it's tiny and very efficient you don't need a thick wire and space which means you save money. It doesn't need any load resistors, converters, etc either so you just get some 10ga wire, a few sockets for your car and you're done.
