I met my wife through a horse site fell in love married 17 yrs..we dreamed of moving to Montana with the horses looked at property ...then one morning she told me I dont want to be married anymore. I was stunned...I asked her about the horses she said :sell them: I was in disbelief. Unknown to me at the time she had met someone else and was going to move to FLA. I was left with a farm and horses ..financially I tried to keep it going but I was almost fully broke. I had to sell the horses.....It was 5 yrs ago and I've climbed back up...I dont know what ever happened to my ex...God only knows.... but I do miss my horses the most They both were Appaloosa's and were my best friends..........Life is unpredictable....I wish you the best.

Go for it!!! In the early 90s, right after I graduated High School in OH where I was born, I decided to move to Alaska. My dream was to ride my one horse, and pony another the entire way. My dad had challenged me and told me that if I decided to do it, he would pay for all the expenses of getting there plus a moving van to deliver all my belongings. Long story short, I decided not to do it, because I just couldn’t see how I would get it done in a timely manner, and I was quitting one job to leave, but didn’t have a source of income lined up once I got there. Since then, I left AK for a time. I traveled from AK to AZ, CA, UT, MT and WY and worked at dude ranches with the horses. I had one horse that was born while I was in High School and he went with me for the entire adventure. I eventually settled down back in AK and raised a family in the backcountry with a man I met who was a registered guide. We had up to 28 horses for pack trips when our children were small. In 2006, we lost the ability to take non resident moose hunters in the area where we had our lodge, so we ended up selling off or slowly losing all the horses to old age over the next 10 or so years; except my one special guy. I eventually had my final “ride” in the sunset on a beautiful October evening in 2021, at the ripe age of 32 with my heart horse. I still have 4 other horses that I phased in and I’ve started under saddle. I use them for horseback riding instruction, at a local barn. Now that my children are grown and starting their own families, I throw out the idea to my husband just about every spring that we should do exactly what you are doing. I am a certified trail guide and riding instructor, and even at the age of 52, I still have a dream to continue to travel around and work at dude ranches, church camps etc. My husband is also a carpenter as well as a guide, so it wouldn’t be difficult for him to find work while we were traveling, but he just can’t see the vision quite yet. I admire you for doing your adventure. Once you both decide to have children, often the time and energy it takes to raise a family for another 20 years (I homeschooled for 21 years) can put dreams and passions on hold for the benefit of the entire family. Few people I’ve met have the memory bank of adventures I can recall. You will also be doing the same; both awesome and challenging ones. And you will learn so much about yourself along the way that will make you both much better parents. I wish you all the best!!’

@@rum4485 it can but horses are really great at caring things that’s why they use them for pull carts, and that’s also why they used them to pull peoples food and water back in the days If you think this is harsh then look back at when people didn’t have cars, all they could use was a horse And yes a horse does have to roam to find water most of the time and same with finding a good spot that they can actually get enough grass to survive off of, horses in the wild can travel up to 20-50 miles a day to actually maintain getting food, water, etc. If you want to check my facts then do so look up,” how many miles a day does a wild horse usually roam a day” and you’ll find For comparison, while moving between their grazing pastures and water sources, wild horses can cover as many as 20 to 50 miles every day. Throughout their days, wild horses mostly get slow, steady exercise that's punctuated with short bursts of more vigorous activity Your welcome

Wow! How exciting! Trailmeister is a great resource for trails, camping with horses in every state. US Rider is a good insurance to have as they will tow truck, trailer and horses, locksmith, fuel, jump starts, tires. They also have list of emergency vets and stables nationwide. The caveat is if you're in BFE where there are 50 people in 200 miles, it might take awhile. Get a trailer aid to change flats on truck/trailer without a jack or unloading. Impact wrench, air compressor, starter/charger.

Oh yes, when you get those pulls, they are just the thing that has to be done. Dreaming like that can be lonely and no on else will care about the dream like you do but I have found when I follow those big deep inner pulls to go after and do something, it seems to also end up benefitting others in some way as well. Also, you hear it all, the naysaying, the doubters the people who are stuck themselves and for whatever reason can't or won't imagine differently. But the dream is life's art, saying create me, I need to be breathed into the world. We sold everything, took the fam and moved over an ocean in suitcases and it was liberating like nothing else. And it opened up all sorts of other things to dream, be pulled toward and do. Amazing! hope you smash it.

SONETHING TO THINK ABOUT EH? AND WE WELCOME THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACTUALLY MEET YALL. ur dream vision spoke to me in so many ways bcuz I personally have a dream similar to yours... But since I was about 10yrs old (I'm 36now) I have dreamt discussed researched and planned to attempt the challenge or dream of MINE is to find sponsorship locally and ride across the peninsula to anchorage .... Omg I've gone thru old maps new maps my dad is a retired hunting guide so we've definitely discussed possibilities... But to be honest without my dad alongside me, I question my ability to manage the treacherousness. The switchbacks. The truth is just need a push in the confidence and ur story of the dream definitely reinforce my distant dream of crossing the kenai peninsula horseback from Homer to anchorage. Of course my dad is still with me on life but damnit if I wish he could still get around like he used to ... I had a real moment of "concern and truth" the day I found myself having to assist saddle my father's horse for him. . Xoxoxo -YOUR FAN & ALASKAN COWGIRL LISA DENALI BETHANY ANDERSON.

This will be such an amazing adventure and still good for business. If you haven’t thought about it get a portable air compressor with a lug nut attachment and some truck tire Slime. I got a compressor with slime which is great but then found out I physically can loosen the lug nuts on my truck to change a tire. So now I need an air compressor as well to switch out the tires.

I wanted to say congrats on your decision to chase your dreams! There will be people that are put in your path to try to discourage you, but ignore them - you will find what matters the most is what you will be getting out of this, not their opinions. If something happens and it doesn't work out, it doesn't matter. What matters is the experience you are going to have. We get this one life that we know of - do what makes you happy! There are reasons we have these dreams. Thank you for helping me be a more confident rider, I have enjoyed your videos in the past and will continue to watch you in your future endeavors.

Hi I’m bored just fancied learning about horses. Found your channel and watched one of the videos. I had a look at the playlist and found this! At first I was confused thinking this lady seemed all for her horses, and now she’s sold everything? What a lovely twist to the tale, you’re going on the adventure of a lifetime! Wishing you all every happiness ❤

You have a place for yourselves and the horses in salt lake whenever you get there! We are full-time/part time RVing (with kid and dogs no horses) and rent out our house in salt lake. it’s been my dream to be on the road. We are currently in the Canadian rockies and it’s stunning (be sure to factor in Canada it’s so different to the US rockies!). What’s funny is that now I dream of having a little farm just like yours and of course get my first horse (hence loving your channel!). It’s good to follow dreams as they come and go and change and grow. I think that’s how we live life to its fullest and intentionally. So we will be moving back into our place in salt lake and getting a horse (scariest dream ever!) and trading out our Rv for a horse trailer with LQ (for horsey adventures) and some day I hope we can get more property just like your little farm. It’s all good. Glad you are following your heart!

That dream for me was to get a horse. And I see years go by. . . . it keeps on calling, adventure keeps on calling. My wife doesn't want a horse because she wants to travel and the money. I guess the dream seems too big, but it was just to get a horse. I hope we can figure it out! Thank you for your inspiring life!
