I think this year it might be rough to watch spacing, but after the season ends they will have time to work on their shot and if Reese can develop a reliable 15-19 ft shot they will be fine. That shot is likely the primary reason Edwards went before Reese.

I think both will be coming off the bench. As they gave a good big right now As season progresses we might see them together. If angel can play small forward as her shooting gets better we might..but angel should have fresh legs as she wont be in the gane for 30 plus minutes...and camilla the same thing. There were three winners in the 2024 WNBA Draft... The Indiana Fever, the Chicago Sky, and the LA Sparks-I gave each team a grade of A+ because Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso & Angel Reese, and Cameron Brink & Rickea Jackson are going to teams with outstanding coaches; but most important, teams with great player development. As for playing Angel and Cardoso on the floor at the same time...you can just posted them up on the opposite of the paint, which would leave the other to clean-up each other's or their teammates misses; trust me coach T-spoon will figure it out!

Dallas taking Jacy Sheldon over Aaliyah Edwards was smart by Dallas. Sheldon is a better player, more likely to be a significant WNBA player long-term because she can run, shoot, dribble, pass, and play defense as a point guard. With a little improvement at each, she'll be a keeper. Edwards can't shoot or dribble much, but is a good athlete. If Edwards can become a decent shooter, she can be very useful, but she is so bad at distance control that I am skeptical. With no jumper and not a serious dribbler, Edwards won't do much.

People say they needed Sheldon for 3pt shooting. My issue with the Dallas/Sheldon pick is the Wings have Lou Lopez Senechal (which sat out 2023 due to surgery after the NCAA season) who shot 44% from the 3pt line at Uconn. Sheldon shot 37% from the 3pt line at Ohio St. Now Sheldon is arguably the better defensive player and has fewer injury issues. But we know Uconn players usually translate well to the WNBA. My other issue is this draft was very good on guards (including Sheldon's teammate Taylor) with only a few elite forwards. In fact after Reese the next 7 players taken were all Guards, including Dallas's second pick. Knowing there is a drop off at forward I would have taken Edwards at 5 (while Reese might have more theoretical potential, Edwards's Uconn background and offensive game has less risk than Reese and again Uconn players typically translate their game well to the WNBA).. Yes they have several 6'6+ players but they are mostly 5s they could use an athletic player like Edwards that can hit from 15-19' (that has zero injury history). I think the Mystics likely felt like they won when Edwards was still there, they still got Kaylynne Truong in the 2nd, and they had lacked a real 4 position player to play alongside Austin and Della Done (who despite her size has the skill set of point-forward and is even more effective when playing the 3) .

Very thoughtful analysis. The Wings are getting a lot of heat for the Sheldon pick. I like it because of the glaring issues with guard play that were obvious last season. Burton is a better defender than Dangerfield but gave you no offense. Jacy is a better defender while still providing offensive punch. I think there are 7 inside players that are already a lock to make the team (Tiera, Kalani, Stephanie Soars, Satou, Natasha, Maddy, and Emma Cannon) and there was not enough room for Edwards although she was the pick I was hoping for.

and not to be mean but the turnover in the WNBA is like 15 players a year so you sorta need to be first round or low second round to feel really good about your chances. Kitley was picked last in the 2nd round so it is kind of a free pick, you're not going to get someone that helps your team right away anyway. The Aces have won the last two titles so they're pretty set on a starting lineup I'd presume, so they can afford to gamble on stealing what would have been a high draft pick. Great strategy considering they have to pick last in each round. I'm not sure what I think about Fair, a lot of her scoring was at Buffalo, and yeah she snuck up behind Clark on the all time scoring list this year but she was five years. So I'll trust their scouts here I guess. Kitley and the Hokies beat the 'cuse at their place earlier this year btw.

New Fan of WNBA here and 1st time vewer here. I enjoyed your commentary. Although one thing I wished you would’ve mentioned and I don’t see it mentioned alot at all anywhere is Nika Mühl. I Honestly believe she’s overlooked. I think alot of these Draft video’s look strictly at numbers, and thats good and fine, but there alot of areas beyond numbers to Carefully Examine Factors of Athletes and their Abilities beyond just the numbers game. Im a long time coach of Youth and Highschool Baseball, yeah a different game, but Ive Drafted alot of Talent for Teams and Im just saying Respectfully, theres alot of other methods for Rating an Athlete. As for Nika Mühl, She is in my opinion The Best Defensive Player out of The Colleges. She single handedly Kept Uconn in The game against my Hawkeyes, and My Fave Caitlin Clark, My Alma mater. Nika was on Caitlin like Gorilla Glue taking Caitlins Impact almost entirely out of that game. Nika can also shoot well, Pass well, Rebound well , and Assist. Her Energy level is Relentless and Stays Consistent thruout the game when others are worn to their cores. As for Nika’s numbers, well she can certainly shoot 3’s when needed, or shoot underneath well too. She coulve easily had a much higher PPG. Anyone can Go Back watch all her college games as Ive done. The Reason she passed alot in her career was spreading the Ball around to other Teammates, including Bueckers. Nika is not an offensive Ball hog, shes a Real Team player, with Great Hands, great Vision and a Tireless Fire and work ethic, and Tenacious Defensive skills. And again, Respectfully just one opinion here, from a Hawkeye and CC Fan, Paying it forward to a Great rival School Player that Desrves better recognition. She will Impact the WNBA and I’ll be cheering for her. Respect to you sir and everyone here for the open Door of Opinions. Thank you.

Any team that takes Kiki Iriafen over Paige Bueckers is insane. Paige will be close to leading the league in scoring. She's Diana Taurasi. Kiki is a good athlete and prospect, but she has a long way to go as a baller, and as an inside player isn't that big. She'll need to become a full baller to be a star, as in running the court dribbling and finshing, and shooting from everywhere; she only has a decent mid-range shot, a few low-post moves, but not much of a dribbler. Paige is a ready-made star with that jumper, dribbling and passing.

Is it me or was the WNBA "symbolic" draft boring this year. I feel like the set up was off. I didn't like Dawn Staley and Lisa Blouter being seated off the floor. Also did the WNBA go too small. Caitlin mania was pretty evident in January. I understand New York is the media capital, but could they have held it in a larger venue and in Vegas or at least a larger one in New York. Was Lisa Leslie there? I love seeing her and Dawn Staley interact. Has the W ever had fans and legends announce picks like they've done in the NFL?

Angel & Cardoso will be fine. Angel gets to go back to her natural Wing spot, instead of playing 4 & 5 for lsu. She's 2 years behind in her overall game because of it. Still, when you specialize in offensive boards & defensive stops, any coach is glad to have you because those kinda high motor players are rare finds. Coming out averaging over 20pts & 10rebs for her senior season, playing outta position, says a lot about her willingness to do the dirty work, if it means winning. That's all any coach can ask for from any player. You trade up to get those players because she has 3 guaranteed years to earn the 4th year team option thru her development; same with Cardoso. That's 2 defensive minded & rebound oriented young core pieces, who need & want to be coached up. Spoon will love'em because they got that DAWG in'em, hidden behind a smile.

reese and cardoso could be great duo if they can both develop their games but I cannot for the life of me understand what chicago is doing. why would they swap their 1st round pick for 2026 when they’re clearly still rebuilding. now they gave up potentially a top 5 pick in a loaded draft in 2026 (possibly the 1st overall pick if they’re still mediocre to bad the next two seasons) and also gave up their 2nd round pick in a great 2025 draft so they have no picks next year and no 1st round pick in 2026. now they can only be hoping to get someone big in free agency and then have to play the cap space game after just clearing their books…they also picked both cardoso and reese over rickea who is probably the 2nd best scorer in the draft? i’m just so confused on what they’re doing. baffling draft for them

100% right! The GM Jeff Paglioca learned under Wade - trade all draft capital away as u over value your ability to build a team. It is crazy! People rubbish the draft but can get a starter with the first 5 picks on low contract. Jackson is a certain starter with high upside. KC & AR futures depends on them developing an outside shot. This is their team until 2027. Lynx scored as they were never going to take AR. There needs to be an investigation into how Chicago and phoenix run their teams. The fever & sparks are giving a clinic on how to rebuild and they need to learn from them as they are going to be dumpster fires!

The idea that a player might need a little bit more development means they'll be cut . The excitement is there , there are college rivalries that people want to see play out in the pros. Don’t agree with the reasons for the Loser tag on the Wings draft. You site the fact that Howard and Sabaly are unrestricted free agents next year. This draft is for help this year and Edwards or Reese would not start over either this year. Additionally you go back to year before last in the Sun playoff series (which they lost) to talk about post play need without mentioning that they advanced last year to the semis where guard play was the primary issue in them not advancing. Lastly you mention Lou Lopez who they drafted last year being able to play this season but not Stephanie Soars - a good young big.

Listen to what he said "Cardoso and Reese won't be able to play together because neither can shoot, and they won't have room on the court"....what? Reese avg 18.6 and 13.4 reb on 47.6 pct shooting this season at LSU and Cardoso avg 14.9 and 9.7 reb on 59% shooting for SC, so they can't do that in the pros? Cardoso is a center and Reese PF. You are underestimating Reese. Obviously, the Sky will play inside out and surround them with shooters. He claims Brink is multi-faceted and Jackson is a scorer for LA...OK let's see how that will transform the Sparks. Regarding Clark to the Fever, yea the ratings will be high, but the results in wins and losses are what counts. Not one mention of her defensive shortcomings in dealing with WNBA guards. I disagree that Chicago was a bit of a loser in this draft. They have drafted the two best rebounders in the draft. Angel can now play the 4, her natural position. Kamilla, at 6'7" will be one of the tallest players in the W, and at 6'7" is very fast and quick, a combination many players at that height don't have. Add the fact, like Angel, she still is learning and is not the complete package yet, but is probably even more raw if a talent than Angel. She sprints down the court faster than many guards. Both are great shot blockers and defenders, rebounders and can score inside efficiently. Both do need work on their post moves and jumpshots though, moreso angel than Kamilla (didn't really see Kamilla attempt many Middy's and 3's). Many teams in the W have at least 2 good bugs, and now Chicago can battle nightly with the best of them. I think Chicago had the best draft, but Indiana and LA both had great drafts as well, moreso LA. Vegas also sneakily had a good draft.
