We're moving! Life in the French countryside
Bonjour bonjour!
We're moving! Again...
But it means we're making progress. I'm taking you along a hectic week. I am a little behind in using all the footage I shot. The weather has turned to really warm and sunny days that feel more like summer than spring and I am so excited about it. Also moving back to the "old" kitchen has changed how we live in the house and the weather makes us live outside 100% of the time, except when we sleep. It's bliss!
Will be sharing more of that wonderful summer style life in the coming videos!
Thanks for being here!

You and Olaf work so cohesively and definitely in sync with one another. It is so inspiring to see a plan for the future come together. Anything good takes time. 4 years is a long time but so worth it. Your space and style is beautiful to see. Have you ever thought about reading books or storytelling on video? You speak with a gentle and clear voice with the right tempo. I always look forward to your next video. Bless your family in all your endeavors.

It’s all SO lively and tasteful ! I have a small kitchen which although a few tweaks are needed , I love and wouldn’t have any bigger ! and I think you’re small kitchen is adorable and I love it ! I notice in Europe they seem to still embrace the “live within your needs “ approach to homes and kitchens . Americans LOVE their big kitchens here 😂
Love the warm friendly ambiance of your home.

You really have a gift for capturing the essence of French country living in a way that is so pleasing to watch. Of course, your home is beautiful, and the surroundings are breathtaking, but your ability to create these little films that are so perfectly edited, scored, and presented is quite remarkable.

I don't think you are completely modern in your furniture. Those painted armoires you have look antique in details just not real ornate and your French farmhouse is antique and some of your garden furniture is antique styled. Very beautiful.🌸

I admire your stamina and perseverance, as well as your incessant striving for perfection which resulted in an idyllic family home and a profitable business. 💪🏻💪🏻 Apart from all of the hard work, you have taken the Dutch Golden Age to a 21. century level by transporting it to Burgundy and by recreating the aesthetic and architectural appeal of that age in such a magical way, that the spectator is drawn to it and tempted to linger on forever. I can‘t help but being mesmerised by what I see and I suspect other viewers feel the same way. Thank you for taking us on this wonderful journey with you. 😘

My my so many changes! The grand living kitchen space will be the heart of the home…❤Looking forward to seeing the changes…

Hi Marloes. I've been watching your videos for months, one after the other. I just got to this part and now I'm writing to you that you are a role model for me. But not only you, but also Olav and your whole family. My love and I live in Hungary, in Budapest during the week, but every weekend we go to our country house, which also includes a barn and outbuildings. We want to renew every part of it, and for that it's great to watch your inspiring videos. Many thanks to you and, of course, to Olav. I also follow his channel because he explains the workflows very well. We have been to Burgundy before, but I hope we will be able to visit you one day in the future.

Hello Marloes, it's been so long since I've watched one of your videos and it was lovely to come back to your channel and have so much to catch up on. You're both doing such a great job on your renovations. I agree with you that from time to time it's important to take stock of everything you've achieved. I do that too, to remind myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and where we stand now is imperfectly beautiful. Congratulations on completing the Cook's Cottage ❤️

I love your place. How many cottages do you have? What are y’all plans for your permanent family dwelling.❤the place you moved back into. Be blessed.
Marloes, I cannot get enough of the nature views in your surroundings. The table setup at the end is lovely. I am also concerned when I see you carry such heavy objects (wardrobe closet, doors, etc.). I suggest you let the males do heavy lifting :) 🌺

Thanks! Yes I shouldn’t be doing that… but I am also grateful that now I CAN, knowing where I’m coming from after a car accident. But it isn’t good for my body so you are right… I shouldn’t be doing it. Fortunately the boys help a lot but they were in school that day and we were determined to make sure the house looked nice(r) when they’d get home.
Great to see Tigrette having fun. It all looks great. Cannot wait to see the final look. Wonder if you will move the new range to your home side of the building.

So happy to see you and Olav posted 2 new videos! ❤️. Love how it is all coming together and ❤ your painted furniture. May be too late to mention, but you can buy inexpensive moving harness straps to move heavier furniture and it saves stress on your back. I know you will fell sore after moving because of your previous accident. One question, are you going to purchase a second refrigerator for the cottage?

Me too! It is made of old floor boards from French trains (but we bought it at an antique shop in The Netherlands) and using the legs of an antique tool (we're not sure what kind). It is extremely heavy but so beautiful! We bought this one for this house when we thought it would be our second home, we have another one that we had in our home in The Netherlands but the legs broke during the move...

Lovely work. Looks like you need higher work counters in the kitchen. Leaning over to cut creates fatigue. I'm short an have to wear heels to get my elbows at a comfortable height. Lol Don't forget, guests can always stand on a stool to cook. You live there.
@FrenchCountryLife
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! My own kitchen will indeed have high counters! This was just at the small table in our porch next to the kitchen. We won’t be using the kitchen in the cottage for guests ourselves however we did make the counters high as that suits most people better than when they’re too low.

Was that creamed nettle soup? It looked wonderful! 👍🏻
@FrenchCountryLife
Жыл бұрын
It was! A friend taught me to add something with fat in it (in France so I’ve been told they traditionally add milk) to take the nutrients out of the nettles, just using water and no fat doesn’t allow your body to take the nutrients. I’m not an expert but my friend is so since she told me I stopped making nettle tea and make soup instead to benefit from all the goodness!
It looks good already ! 💕🌷🇳🇱

@FrenchCountryLife
Жыл бұрын
