Restoring an historic building like this does more than make a nice place to stay. It restores a part of history and evokes emotions and memories of that time. It's a giant investment with its reward felt in the hearts of those who visit.

Hello , please read carefully . I am writing to you with Google Translate and I mean I'm writing this just in case . I saw the plants you arrange in the vase those with white colors similar in color to parsley or dill .A month ago I read on the net about poisonous plants .I read for my information and general culture .I was surprised to find that I knew one of them .And I took it for decoration like you. This is very similar .So search and compare , just for your safety and for information . The plant is called "Conium maculatum" I wish you happiness and a nice summer in nature ❤🖐️

Thank you for your concern. I know that plant and I don’t pick it for bouquets. The ones you see me pick are cow parsley / queen Anne’s lace and it looks similar but it’s not the same. I always double check when I’m not sure. Thank you for your comment!

I had a baby bird in the house...the little guy just plopped down in front of me while I was on the couch watching the news. I opened the front door so he could fly outside...to no avail. Summer, early evening. For the next 4 hours I tried to swish him out. Finally went to bed. The next morning sadly I thought I would have to bug spray him but didn't have the heart to hurt him so I opened the door one more time hoping he would fly out. God must have been watching because I no sooner walked away and away he flew...to the door, thru the door, out to freedom. Later that day...two robin's kept flying around my door. I think they were mom and dad...thanking me for letting their baby fly home. Waited a whole night for him to leave. Glad I was patient. Continued contentment for you and your family. 😊

You have inspired me of picking the wonderful wild flowers that adorn our countryside. I found beautiful blue pompoms yesterday, that I had not seen before. In the spring I like to pick delicate violets blue, and also rarer whites , and adorn my food with them and primeroses. Alas, the weather here in the border Brittany/Normandy has been awful and eating out is a rare thing.

About 18 yrs ago, I moved from Manhattan to Cape Cod, MA. I live on a little kettle pond on conservation land...very idyllic and far from the maddening crowd. But even here, life becomes hectic! still a blessing if one can find their little piece of heaven. In the city, I did my best to bring nature into my apt in any way I could and to take time to smell the roses. Merci for the reminder.

Yes the simple life is still busy. We work a lot more and harder, physically, here than we’ve ever done in our corporate jobs or earlier businesses. There is always so much to do and the work never ends and daily chores take more time. It’s busy in a different way but a lot quieter for the mind to manage.

Hello I love watching your channel and so inspired. I have antique pine furniture just as the hutch you’re trying to refinish. I had an old pine dresser I bought 30 years ago never refinished and used bleach and the sun to bring back that old world finish I was looking for. I’m in the US and not sure what bleach is called there but saw what you’re trying to accomplish so here I am 😊. I haven’t finished the episode, so I’m sure what you came up with is perfect. Looking forward to what you did. Exciting. 🎉 . Hope to visit your country, sure looks beautiful. ❤ Lori in Pasadena CA USA

Another beautiful day in France. We also had birds end up in our wood stove, twice. We finally put something on the outside pipe to prevent them from falling in. I've always been curious about how the windows in Europe do not have screening. Are bugs getting into the house not a problem there? Merci.

They do but we don’t have that many around here and it’s part of living in nature! Our cabin has a screened window and our cottage guests usually close the curtains when they open the window and it works really well. We have skylights in our bedrooms with no screens and no problems with bugs!

Stovepipes must remind birds of hollows in trees. We’ve had them try to nest in ours. I myself have mostly lived in rural areas and would hate to live back in town.
