Retals, a tip for speedflipping on kbm. (From a GC2 KBM player) Start with your fingers on W + E and then move them to S + D. This way the motion is a bit more intuitive and you don't steer your car before you start the flip. What's important is that you have E bound to airroll right and Q bound to airroll left. I'd personally recommend to unbind normal airroll on kbm so you can hold drift before you even land. Loving the series and can't wait to versus you guys in my rank.

good tip to make it easier, but none of that is necessary (the unbinding and changing of keybinds). i’m a gc1 kbm player and have all default settings and speed flip pretty easily.

Btw I don’t know if you guys found out but there is a setting that makes it so you don’t turn forward when you jump and you were holding W to drive unless you let go and press it again. It’s called Keyboard aerial safety or something. Last but most importantly put keyboard input acceleration on 0.

Can you try to get Evample to give you a mechanics lesson? Preferably without him learning your identities until the end of the video.

I think if you bind air steer to the arrow keys and let Jack use them, that should let him control the flips and aerials while Retals controls steering on the ground

Worth a try for them I think. AppJack needed retals to explain the keyboard controls to him, he's not going to instantly be cracked but it will at least allow them to aerial.

Watching pros struggle in my rank is so validating haha

Struggle... sharing a keyboard together. Lol. Nah, man. I feel silly. It is hilarious when they see a smurf like "OHH!! SMURF IN DIAMOND?! IT DOESN'T HAPPEN!" Like... welcome to high Diamond/low Champ where the ranks are made up and half of everyone is a peak GC.

You might be able to swap controls around so that backing up is a different key than tilting your car back. That would help a lot in the air

C3 in 2s and D2/3 in 1s, I feel like I see more of the last guy in my ones games than anything. Flip resets aren't crazy above C2. Champs are getting pretty consistent. Most of my D2/3 1s games are against red tags.

I'm loving this series so much, I'm so invested. On the other hand, AppJack hanging by his fingernails on this "not a lot of smurfs" thing is the only thing that has me grinding my teeth a bit.

Loving this series, I've been learning quite a bit because this is around my rank, still cant speed flip but hover around d3 and c1. This has showed me stuff I've never thought about.

C1s in 1s are typically c3-gc1 in 2s/3s, and can double tap pretty consistently if they get the setup. Depending on the player, some will also hit flip resets somewhat often

nah its really hit or miss. Most players are not consistently double tapping or flip resetting. Maybe 1 in 7 or 8 will do anything threatening while going for it.

Most aren't flip resetting, though many do. Double taps though you can't play for the miss. You just won't climb if you default to thinking they won't hit it. I feel like double taps is where we put most of our training when we hit C1.

At first I thought this series was going to be dumb...but it is SO enjoyable to watch! I love watching how you guys figure it out. I also like how you guys get to experience what it is ACTUALLY like in D/C ranks and the pain/joy of deranking and then ranking up...and encountering the vast differences in skills with some players at this rank. It's very frustrating, especially in 2s and 3s, getting great tm8s one game and terrible ones the next. It makes it very difficult to know exactly how to play each match VS. playing at SSL where you have a consistent expectation that gets met most of the time...and, also, no smurfs at SSL because...SSL. I hope you guys continue this...I'm so glad you guys live close enough together to do this right now. Two of my fav RL YTers teaming up like it is great.

You could try wavedashing to the ball on kickoff... I can't speed flip and that helps me

Retals and AppJack hear me out... I would be just as interested if yall were to "team up" on one account. How you'd ask? One person mains the controller and the other mains the KBM. However you both will use your own decision making and be able to do the same inputs simultaneously. Also if they ever are toxic it would be amazing to just dominate them :)

Do the speed flip with directional air roll. Then you won’t be dependent on timing when you turn left or right. Holding directional air roll while front flipping makes you diagonal flip.

The sly diggler guy might just be really good in other modes and practices the moves he uses a lot.

Bind directional air roll to Q and E keys, kbm players don't usually use normal air roll, only directional.

I love the content bios it’s so entertaining to watch u two Just one tip tho when u r on defense try squishy saving more often it requires less comms then an ariel of any kind

a start you could use is with your other hand tap the other player when you want them to jump.

Trust me bro I have friends that are hitting double resets and sometimes cooking me (a c3) and have never reached c2.

you guys need a high BPM metronome to sync up your movements/inputs too

The champ guy was for sure that rank. 1s rank distribution means c1 is the same as GC1 in 2s. Look at the normal distribution of the season ranks that psyonix release

I think you guys need to think like a SAM player thinks on high ping. Always challenge, always stay close. No spacing. Keep grinding -- this is a blast.

Hey, i just want to say that i was never a 1s enjoyer. I just didnt feel that gamemode and my playstyle wasnt helping. I dont have mechanics or good recoveries so not having mates to help wasnt ideal for me. Usually, I was avoiding watching 1s, but i must say that the more i watch 1s videos or on twitch the more i vibe with them. Mostly I watch you, (I love watching Jack too but yeah most of the time im here) I started to kinda vibe more, and playing more too. Yesterday only i ranked form like plat 3 to d1 div 4 (previous peak was like d1 div 2), and i feel like grinding even more. So yeah, its just a small thing i wanted to share coz i know nobody asked but i just have some new motivation to grind and learn instead of just playing for fun (i mean i still have fun but yeah i actually grind a bit yk) And when it comes to you (im saying as for 18:50min watched coz have to leave now, if you talked about it later then im sorry i dont know yet) you can use Q instead of shift+A and same with R for shift+D (maybe you knew but when you switched you said "its only WSAD and shif" so i wanted to say that too) And i love to see how you vibe with changing camera more too, but its still not as easy on kmb. I personally just assigned CAMERA SWIVEL LEFT/RIGHT to those buttons on the side of mouse. Its a small thing that i use a lot in my games (Well im worse so not sure if its good to give advices) but i still wanted to say it because maybe you will find it useful anyhow. Anyway, love the first half of the vid, will watch rest later. Great series and i love your duo dynamics

you could try to fix the timing on jumps with a count, quick count to 3 when you're trying to aerial so you can sync your timing better

I think that if you want to improve your speed flip, you must use the air roll :) it's probably more simple, no?

So the issue with 1's at the rank they are at is that you run into people that are 1's mains so their 1's rank is close to their 2's and 3's rank but you also run into people that rarely play 1's but have really good 2's and 3's mechanics since a lot of people are typically 2 or 3 ranks lower in 1's

have separate bindings? so you can drive and point up - dont know if thats possible just an idea seems feasible with two players like so they can see if ur cool

you just need to establish a rhythm with your double jumps, you both fast aerial at similar times so you just have to do what you feel naturally and sync up i think

They should call it a 2v2 1v1 or maybe a .5 + .5 vs .5 + .5. 2:1v2:1.

Can you put on a KBM overlay? It would give much more context on every play.

1s is harder to get higher in rank, at least for me. I think it's pretty normal for GC1 2's players to be C1 in 1v1
