The world is changing quickly. Countries are starting to challenge the US-led world order that emerged after World War 2. Countries like China and Russia are hoping to create their own system, based on their own rules and values, and the world’s most important growing economies are taking notice.

    1:39 I really don’t understand why you continuously repeating the same mistakes in many of your videos..?? Why you call Mosaddegh government in Iran, a democratically elected…? It wasn’t… he was a prime minister selected by the Emperor of Iran and was kicked out by him according to the constitution of Iran then…But Mosaddegh tried to stage a coup against the shah with the help of clergy and USSR that was initially successful but after the coup he dismantled the parliament and the judiciary and wanted to start his own dictatorship that with the help of the US money, all the same clergy that initially supported him, all the members of parliament, the generals that didn’t want him as their new leader, and judges, he was kicked out eventually…!! In the Iranian constitution of the time, Shah selects and kicks out the prime ministers not election..!! Mosaddegh himself was against the elections since the constitutional revolution during the dynasty before Pahlavi…

    Honestly, as a Russian, I am very skeptical of this and believe that this 'New cold war' topic is inflated. I mean, the world is too globalized and interdependent right now. In the real cold war time, there was virtually no trade and closed borders between two blocks and now more than half of China's trade is with the West and vice versa. Every political move discussed is in my view hypocritical, since everyone keeps trading with everyone regardless of these 'alliances'. And that Brics are developing a new currency is just laughable, they aren't even an alliance (SA's president was to arrest Putin if he comes)

  • @Nickdpoul

    @Nickdpoul

    9 ай бұрын

    Even in the original cold war there was some trade and relations between the blocks. Maybe not for the people, but for the governments and the powerful at least. The interdependency is keeping things from collapsing, but we see in the last years that the new blocks are trying to cut this dependency. But at the end of the day, global politics is just the result of thousands of small decision by people with conflicting interests, who will cooperate for some time if it helps them all.

    Also from ideological point of view, China or Russia don't provide any solid and self-sufficient ideology or vision of better future as Soviet Union did. Economic growth of these countries was nurtured and empowered by the West, and politically China and Russia are way too corrupt and unripe compared to Western Democracies. Thus, to call it a new bipolar world is exaggerated. Most countries still see democracy as their ideal and only lean towards the East in some specific matters.

Slowly we're learning why they were so good and ubiquitous to begin with. Look at the cinema. It's the one place where many young people including myself and even some of the older generations might listen to a piece of really traditional classical music without even noticing it, because it just works!

    8:00 BRICS is not some rival to the West or NATO. To make a single currency or military alliance between such disparate far-flung countries would take a lot more unity and mutual co-operation than these states are capable of. The EU is geographically and culturally linked through their proximity to one another and even they haven't managed to spread the Euro to all members, or establish a formal alliance that isn't NATO. China and India are always skirmishing over their border, Russia's a global pariah, and South Africa is nearly a failed state that recently threatened to arrest Putin if he stopped by for the BRICS summit. NATO they ain't. And a mutual trade currency can't have garbage economies attached to it (South Africa, arguably Russia). Look what Greece did to the Eurozone.

    It has already been laid bare by the war in Ukraine war that Russia's military is not even close to superpower status. They have nukes but it is mutually assured destruction to use them and is nearly a moot point. We have been providing Ukraine our scrap and without putting a single boot on the ground, Russia is being defeated. They are using World War II era tanks and after a year and a half don't even have any substantial air superiority. Russia doesn't have a blue water navy and their airlift capability is lacking. We have the best blue water navy in the world and have the best airlift capability ever seen. We have bases all over the world which gives us a huge leg up. In no sense of the word is Russia a superpower, whether economically, militarily or technologically. What does Russia produce for the world that is of value? They have a lot of oil but what innovations do they create that help humanity? Russian women are lined up to marry American men so that they can come here and escape that backward, second rate country that is run by a tin pot dictator. All of the Chinese military which we hear so much about is stolen American technology that isn't being perfected like the way that we do it. China has an excellent area of denial capability, but we have a wartime reserve capability that hasn't been seen yet and hopefully won't be needed. Also, China doesn't have any recent combat experience which plays a huge role in military effectiveness. We have many decades worth of combat experience. We don't have a near peer adversary as we are meant to believe.

    Do we have to constantly think about things with a "war" mindset? China is pursuing its own economic interests but doesn't want to actually have a conflict with the US - and has stated so multiple times. From what I've seen, this "new cold war" language mainly comes from the US side. Are countries allowed to pursue economic projects independent from the US, without this being classified as being a "war"? I think people are willing a war into existence where there needn't be one.

    @@kingof206 I agree. I also pray welfare for everyone and humanity. I think governments and very rich people are destroying the earth. I don't like either of them at all. The problem with huge nations is that their government gets too powerful because they have too many resources. And they end up having very powerful weapons of mass destruction like atomic bombs. They also exploit people of other countries for their own benefit by stealing oil, water etc. Same with very rich people who exploit the environment and manipulate common people. I also like helping others. Just a few weeks ago, we organised an eye checkup and treatment camp for mostly old people who were poor and couldn't afford treatment for their eyes. Me, my friends and some other people I know, contributed money for it. We hired an eye specialist doctor to do checkup. Around 200 people visited for checkup. Some of them were fine, some got medicine and eye drops and around 10 of them had surgery because they couldn't see or had cataract. Now they could see and I am very happy for them. I also feed people from time to time and buy poor people some clothes for winters.

    @johnny. Thank you for this video. I really appreciate your factual, non-biased POV on the state of the world and the rising competition between China and the US. One critique: when you overlay images over the map of the US, you typically show its people and its politicians. However when you overlayed images over the map of China, you more often only showed Xi, and his military. Might I suggest you also highlight the people and the society within China?

    America's decline has been overstated for the last 50 years. People forget that America's hegemony was not solely built on its military might and trade but also on its soft power. While some might look at America's political/cultural system as one in deep decline, it still offers way more to the individual than what is offered in Xi's China or Putin's Russian- personal freedom. And because America attracts all sorts of people/talent, it will continue to grow in ways that Putin or the CCP would never tolerate.

    I'm very confused at the comments that claim this video as "unbiased"; it is clearly biased. Johnny Harris says "China sees the US as an unfair policeman of the global order" and that, to China, the actions of the US "look a lot like the modern day version of colonialism". Yet, you show us no direct quote from Chinese officials to back up these claims. Most journalists tend to back up such hefty claims with direct quotes in order to establish a non-biased point of view. Harris goes on to say "they [China] see this hypocritical American empire drunk on power..." followed by stating that the US is falling apart. Harris shows clips of turmoil in the US while demeaning its government, yet he fails to show the audience how every other country involved in this fabled Cold War is ALSO in political turmoil- Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, etc. He also fails to mention how China is a Neocolonial power, so if China were to use Harris' words "hypocritical colonialism" to talk shit on the US, China would also be acting as a hypocrite. You need not look further than the Taiwan-China conflict to see that China's actions do not oppose imperialism. I could go on pointing the baseless opinions that Harris uses in this video to propose his Cold War conspiracy, and it truly baffles me that people see this as unbiased journalism. It's just clickbait guys, get over it.
