I don't agree. When I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's she was Madonna/Cher huge. She won award after award. She had her own variety shows. She stepped away to have a family in the mid 80's and never really came back to, or wanted, that level of fame but she's a icon. Grease, Xanadu and Physical were all huge. Xanadu the movie is a cult classic now and the soundtrack, which Magic is from,. is amazing.

"She can really sing." Yes, she really could! A couple of years before her death, I was privileged to see her in concert. My seat was two rows from the stage. The venue was a small one and I was so close to her on the stage that I could actually hear her voice before it was amplified by the mic. When she sang part of Magic, it truly was magical! @@90hatter90 ONJ dabbled in many genres, country, pop and folk. The only reason she is not recognized now for Country is because she gained many young fans when she performed in "Grease" and many people think that is where her career started. If you look at interviews with her from late 1970's and even early 1980's, her country/pop roots are brought up. It is only now that people "forgot" her country roots. Olivia Newton-John is one of many artists you guys are hearing in the incorrect order. For Rob to think she was just a pop diva completely bypasses the truth. Throughout the 70s; Olivia was a Country/Western artist, who even did this haunting backup for John Denver's Fly Away. It was hey casting in Grease; that got the attention that she was more than just a Country artist, and was cast in Xanadu, for which this song comes from. Although the movie flopped; the album was a huge success, due to the song from her, and ELO (who the second side of the LP was their music). You two missed find of great sounds by Olivia; that you two really need to go back to

In the 1970's ONJ was considered a country pop artist. Being one of the first female cross-over artists. She was considered both country and pop. "Have You Never Been Mellow" is not classified as a 'country' song. It is a pop song. It charted in country charts just because of ONJ's cross-over appeal. The thing with ONJ, you could never put her in just one genre because her music was so diversified.

Olivia, or Livvy as she’s affectionately known as here in OZ is such a beautiful lady, inside & out!!! This is one of my favourite songs of hers to listen to or sing! You should react to Xanadu (the movie this song came from) & Grease on your Movie channel. You should also check out her journey, she obviously started out in Australia but then she made it big in the UK and then became huge in the USA. She’s known for her pop and musicals but she also had success in country music. Keep the great music coming…. Thoroughly enjoying your reactions….. much love from Australia 🇦🇺 💖

Olivia has a voice that combines sweet and sultry, and it works. I feel that Sheena Easton (still waiting on a reaction for her) has the same qualities to her voice. Sheena teamed up with Prince and went much more sultry. 😄 Anyone here remember "Sugar Walls"? 😊🤭 *Sheena Easton* "9 to 5/Morning Train" "U Got the Look" (it's Prince's song featuring her) "The Lover In Me" "We've Got Tonight" (with Kenny Rogers) "For Your Eyes Only" (from the James Bond movie of the same name) "Follow My Rainbow" (featured in an episode of the '80s show "Miami Vice" with Sheena as a guest star. In case you don't know, it's a song inside a movie musical "Xanadu", in which she plays a Muse (more exactly: Terpsichore, the goddess of dance and chorus - though since she is helping a struggeling artist in modern times, she takes on the form of a modern woman, calling herself Kira), one of the greek patron goddesses of literature, music and art in general, which are seen as the ones giving the divine spark to artists, inspiring them. They are the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne - actually a female Titan, daughter of Gaia (earth mother) and Uranus (sky father) When they meet for the second time (the first time she just surprises him with a kiss), this song plays, as he followes her, wondering who she is, then watching her as she skates around in her roller blades in a warehouse, playing a bit with him, as she (magically, though it's not obvious for him) vanishes and appears while she dances around him. Song is telling the story of her and the Muses in general, they are 'magic' you have to believe in, since they are guiding and protecting humans on their artistic journey.
