Uncle Jesse - aka John Stamos was an "honorary Beach Boy" when I saw them perform with him in concert in the early 90's. He wasn't there for the classic 60's songs but they brought him out to play drums on this song and as I recall he stayed for others and did an amazing drum solo. And I want whatever evil magic keeps him, Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue from aging!!

This song is criminally underrated. It is my favourite Beach Boys song - sublime vocals, effortlessly wonderful musicianship, and it doesn't sound like anyone other than The Beach Boys.

This song appeared on the soundtrack to the hit movie, Cocktail starring Tom Cruise. The song went all the way to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 1988. This song was The Beach Boys' only #1 song of the 1980s. By the way, John Stamos toured with them during the summertime of 1988. Great song indeed!!!

Stamos appeared in the video for “Kokomo” even though he didn’t expect to. “We were doing a special and the main thing was we were doing a version of ‘Wipeout’ with the Fat Boys, who were a rap group,” Stamos told The Birmingham News. At the time, Stamos and The Beach Boys stayed at a Disney resort called Grand Floridian. They were the resort’s first guests.

When "Kokomo" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1988 for 1 week, it set the record for the longest span between a band's last two #1s (1966's "Good Vibrations & 1988's "Kokomo"). They invited John Stamos to be an honorary member of "The Beach Boys" which is why the Beach Boys made an appearance on "Full House." Brian Wilson (ironically had no involvement with this song) is the father of Carnie & Wendy Wilson (two members of the group "Wilson Phillips" - the third member, Chynna Phillips, is the daughter of John & Michelle Phillips - of "The Mamas & The Paps")

"Good Vibrations" with the surf lifestyle in California in the 60s and "Kokomo" with the Caribbean lifestyle with luxurious Resorts and palm trees in the 80s.This band lives up to its name:The Beach Boys.

This is from the late 80s, a time of change for the band. Brian Wilson, the real brains behind the group, had left, & his brother, Dennis, the drummer, had died. The rest of the Boys got back together with, yes, John Stamos on drums - he was a huge fan & long-time fan. This tune was from the soundtrack for a Tom Cruise film, 'Cocktail'. This song is from the movie Cocktail and was a huge, huge hit when it came out in 1988. I remember hearing Casey Kasem say during the Weekly Top 40 Countdown that because of this song people were trying to book holidays to this place called Kokomo. There is a Kokomo, IN but sadly there’s no real island destination called Kokomo. And I’ve never seen Cocktail, but I still keep this song on my playlists. I may have to put the movie on the list, too! Edit: See, this is the cool thing about your community-I have seen this video about a hundred times and never knew that was John Stamos!

Very big hit in the '80s. This and Wipeout(fat boys) help them to hit on the charts for the '80s. Fun fact it was the Beach boys that actually started the acid Rock or hippie Rock in the sixties. They and the Beatles were so much influenced and rivals against each other they started taking it up a notch. And rock was never the same... Out with the teenie bop Rock, in with the deep meaning classics.. so influence that a lot of the blues artists became rockers. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin.. etc.... And yes uncle Jess was a beach boy drummer for the '80s. Lol

Yes that's John Stamos on playing with the Beach Boys he plays with them when they need him too. They appeared on full house so many times cause of how close they are with John Stamos. John Stamos said this : Mike Love turns to my friend and says, ‘Who’s that?’ And he says, ‘That’s John Stamos; he’s on General Hospital and always has girls chasing him.’ And Mike Love, without missing a beat, says, ‘Get him onstage.'”

For those of us too old for Full House, we remember John Stamos from his stint on General Hospital, along with Rick Springfield - that was in the very early 80s. I don't know if I ever saw this video (of course I knew the song), great choice, very fun!

I saw them in concert with the tour connected with this song. The warmup act was Katrina and the Waves. The audience reaction was funny. The crowd sat on their hands until the 1 hit from the warmup act was played. The crowd greeted it with warm applause. The next time we heard from the audience was when Katrina and the Waves closed out their set with Wipeout. Then the crowd went wild for the Beach Boys.

Hey, I’m from Kokomo, lol. Kokomo, Indiana, and the only beach here is surrounded by concrete! 🤪 We met the BB’s in ‘79 through a friend, and hung out with them from time to time for next next 20 years or so. They were the nicest people you’d ever meet, and were so much fun. John Stamos still tours with some of the remaining Beach Boys, under the name of the BB’s. Too many great memories to describe. The Beach Boys helped to shape my generation. God bless them. And, the BB’s were guests on Full House a couple of times - I’m sure those episodes are in reruns somewhere!!

John Stamos actually played with them earlier than 1993. On July 4th 1990 I was in Presque Isle Maine and they did a concert at the fairgrounds. We were shocked to see that Brian Wilson was actually touring with them as he didn't really tour much at the time.. then to see John Stamos playing drums was wild. Then they kicked it up a notch and when they started singing Surfer Girl , Paula Abdul (who was dating John Stamos at the time) came out on stage and started dancing with Mike Love... Until Stamos tapped him on the shoulder and cut in. One of my favorite concerts ever!
