"This isn't a service that really exists." And guys, I don't think it should be. No one should do this type of cleaning unless they choose it or love it. Get mental health help and try to reach out for support so that your home doesn't reach this point. What Mack and other channels do is triage care for people and homes that desperately need it. The best time to get help is Now! Reaching out to Mack is lovely but try to reach out to people and resources within your local community 💜

I thought it was super cool that you were cleaning your own house because I think there is this perception that the person that cleans houses is super duper always on it, but nope, everyone's house gets messy. Social media is full of people PRETENDING to be perfect, it's nice when people are honest.

I guess I was married to the most tidy alcoholic in the world. For 40 years, he kept the home in order because I was a workaholic. Beside the alcohol, he was the nicest person you could ever meet. Everyone loved him. He was kind and gentle. Sadly he passed with cancer at 57.

My husband passed away in August of 22. We had been separated for 3 years and have a son together. He wouldn’t ever let me go into his home after I left him. It wasn’t until he passed that I saw it. It was just like this. The only exception was that he had giant vodka bottles instead of beer boxes. He owned the mobile home but rented his lot. For the sake of the lot owners I tried so hard to clean it but there was no electricity and it was so bad. It was spilling over with roaches but it wasn’t until day 3 that I realized that it was full of black widow spiders and their egg sacks. That was where I drew the line. My husbands therapist (a clinical psychologist) diagnosed him as having schizophrenia (other things played into it) but he went in, came out and said “o there’s no question”. He was sick and I didn’t know. He drank and starved himself to death

“I demand the same kind of empathy that we show the people we help.” Yes and amen, we love healthy boundaries ❤️ It’s easy to be hard on ourselves, and “helpful” comments from others can really make it harder to get out of a hole. Those people are buttheads. And as an aside, I really like seeing you take care of projects and cleaning in your own house; It’s one thing to help others, but to be able to take care of your own self too takes another kind of strength.

I just enjoy hanging out with Mack. Doesn't matter what house, what yard, what anything he is doing, I always learn something from him and always amazed at how good he is at what he does. It just makes me sad when he shares that he's suffering with those things he personally struggles with and I always wish there was something I could do for him or something I could do to make the struggle go away. Mack is an amazing man. His autism is an actual super power for him and that he has chosen to use that super power to help others is an inspiration for all of us. He always inspires me to be better, to get up and do something, no matter how small. I do feel somehow a better person for having watched Mack for a long time now. ❤

I think it's the right move because I think I have the very same autism as you do. Mine is undiagnosed but I think it's the same thing - and I'm 70 +++ and have suffered with it my entire life. And I think that table came from era 1940's because I have seen it a lot of places my entire life and bet that I hurt more than you when you said you had to throw it away. Take care. My ex husband did this to our house after his alcoholism and mental illness finally led me to run for my life after 10 years. The floors were literally a sea of cans and bottles. Every surface was piled with dirty dishes, rotting food etc. Help was readily available yet his alcoholism wouldn't allow him to take it. He drank himself to death a few years later, died lying in the neighbors yard one morning with his fresh bag of beer from the store beside him. Most frustrating and heartbreaking thing I've ever witnessed.

My husband lost his brother to alcoholism. He was the kindest sweetest man but the disease was too much for him. We lost him way too soon. The last years fo his life, we tried to protect him from his own enviroment and it was a struggle. Utimately we had to take him out of his trailer and place him in another safer place to live. After his passing we had the entire trailer taken to the dump. Everything it was destroyed. What you have done here is truly incredible. I saw first hand what can happen in these types of situations. Even if this is your hobby, it still takes a toll on you to clean these spaces. You are a hero.

I cleaned out 3 homes in 4 years. One was a hoarders. No one wanted the 45 rpm records. I cad a collection of 1930s shellac 78 rpm original jazz. No one wanted them, even on eBay. Now I have boxes and boxes of old docs I’m scanning so I can toss the originals. I just can’t keep them unless they’re really old (pre 1970 photos). The emotional hit as each thing is discarded is painful, but it has to be done. Taking a picture of it helps. Once it’s gone and the tears stop, it’s not missed. It was important to people no longer here. I can’t run a museum. It took 4 days to clean up out the hoarder’s home. I’m now trying to get tepid of things I haven’t touched in 5 years. Clothes not worn in 2 years. I don’t miss them once they’re gone.

I was diagnosed with adhd at 43. I read all these checklists and just didn't think I had it enough for a diagnosis. KZread, podcasts etc, that's where you have the time to listen to various voices and go "that bit is me, that bit's not me" . And some concepts, you need to need to hear ten different people explain it and it clicks, and you understand the point that the previous nine people were making 😂 I am so grateful for the privilege we have in being neurodivergent in this decade. Although a few stimulants and therapy 20 years ago might have made a few things easier!

I told my boss that part of my home visit was that I was going to my home to throw my clothes in the washing machine or throw them out and take a shower and change before coming back to work . Wore the clothes I might paint in so they could be thrown out if necessary.

My wife did this exact thing when she discovered her grandpa and his pets living in a mess very similar to this. Eventually, her grandpa passed away from the alcoholism shortly after leaving the nursing home. The pets all had to be surrendered. She would come home every day for a summer and tell me about all the stuff she found - poop couch, pee bottles, dead animals. Her grandmother, mother, and herself cleaned everything and managed to sell the house. Seeing this video really puts what they went through into perspective. Thanks for everything you do. ❤

I grew up in a hoarder house, and I want you to know that these videos have been incredibly therapeutic for me. Watching you tackle these difficult homes with empathy and kindness cuts through decades of shame I was carrying. Watching the process step by step makes something that was completely overwhelming and unfixable for me as a kid seem like something that CAN be tackled, and seeing the end result is just so satisfying, even if the home is seriously damaged. You’re doing great work, and I appreciate you. ❤

I'm also deep into Autistic burnout, my son is 10 and also diagnosed and going through the same thing. We are actually avoiding his room at the moment. He does virtual school and that last day of school was the last day either of us could stand being in there. He's sleeping in our bed at night because we just cant even look in that room, it just causes so much anxiety. To get us out of the house, we bought a hammock for sensory, our "relaxation station" with some solar lights around the area. We both also took up learning gardening. Of course that means the inside of the house is a wreck at the moment, but we just really needed the sunshine and fresh air. We're giving his room an easy makeover on a budget next month. Hoping some new paint, desk and bedding will help.

EDIT: halfway through the video wanted to tell yall that for 40+ years I kept my birth certificate and few other things in ziplock bag in the door of my freezer so in case of fire, I could grab and go. In the event I wasn't home and that happened, it would be semi protected inside the freezer. I live around the corner from a fire station so, hopefully it would be ok. Turns out LOtS of people do the same thing, important papers in the freezer-so if you dare...that birth certificate could be in that man's freezer. Thanks to you and your son for doing this. @@jillianbowen7265 I hope to answer this question for you... In most cases, it is far easier to find one that you already have than to try to track down where to get a new one. At least at one time, different places across different states were the repositories for such documents, and the county clerk's office may not have been where to find a replacement document. I do not know if that has been changed now. And these days, and in some areas, the cost has become ridiculous. When I had to write away for my birth certificate in the early 1980s it only cost me $3, when a frind of mind had to write away for hers about 7 years ago, it cost $25. And now I hear it is even higher. For some people, the place in which those records are kept may even be out of country, or were in a place that was destroyed from natural disaster or fire... For example, even though my son is an American citizen, having been born to two American citizens, he happened to be born overseas in a German hospital, while my husband and I were in the service. His birth certificate, was therefore issued by the German government - and this was when the Berlin wall still divided the country. I would not even have a clue as to where to begin trying to find a replacement for his birth certificate if his was ever lost. I am sure there are other scenarios, but as you can see, it is not always easy or cost effective to get a replacement. I hope this answers your question.🙂

That is a fantastic idea/suggestion! The freezer, being insulated and cold does seem to be a great option for those of use who cannot afford a fireproof box! I hope they do find his birth certificate in the freezer! What a joy that would be!

@@katrubie3 Thank you so much for sharing so much detail. You are 100% correct about the difficulties associated with obtaining copies of birth certificates from different countries as the explanation you gave for your son is the case for many Americans who served in the military. I forgot about that. And yes, it's about $25 dollars (where I live) to get a certified copy.

@@katrubie3this is actually so interesting to hear! And explains why media makes such a big deal of certificates, like the sims frames them?? I always thought it was weird but never really thought any deeper of it. In my country you can ask for a pdf of your birth certificate online and unlimited amount of times, it’s free and has no wait time! Really different for some reason

This poor guy. He had such a beautiful house. I’m glad he’s being looked after.
