...True story. Biv was dating my cousin back in the day. I happen to be with one of my aunts, we stopped by my cousin's place-had no idea that Biv was going to be over there but was told he may be by later on. Walk into my cousin's living room and there he was! I was in complete shock. I was already a huge fan of New Edition from like 2nd grade. So he speaks to me and then asks if I could sing, me being extremely shy -I was like no, not really. Had no idea that he was actually putting together a group from my hometown Las Vegas... And there you have it -702. I will never forget that day, as long as I live. Lol..Biv was super cool & he treated my cousin & her family extremely well. Definitely a solid all-around gentleman. Can't wait for the full interview to post. NE 4Life 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🎶

Bell Biv Devoe should be studied - the style, the branding, the music, the choreography, the entire marketing package is absolutely the pivot in R&B groups to fuse hip hop and R&B- led to Jodeci, Boys to Men, Jagged Edge, the list goes on

Actually, New Edition infused R&B with HIP HOP back in the day, especially with Cool It Now...... "Why you all comin' down on me, tryna tell me what life's, supposed to be!!"
@vfrebel6166
11 ай бұрын
@@qwammienewsome1357 Yes, that's true. They rapped on Candy Girl and Popcorn Love on the first album. They also employed Popping and Locking in their step routines. While they did add Hip Hop elements, it was done in a very bubble gum way. BBD flipped the script by infusing the rawness of Hip Hop in both sound and visual style that no R&B group had done before and changed the whole landscape.

Listening to these interviews, makes me go back and jam out man. BBD is timeless. The same can be said for everyone from New Edition.
If I COULD LISTEN TO HIM TALK ALL DAY was a person. Biv got my full attention.
BBD is definitely part of the soundtrack to my life. We used to be performing at party's out the blue, and only one of us could actually sing. Not to mention the style with the 1st record.

I remember where I was living and everything that was happening when Poison dropped. And I’m a pastor’s kid so I shouldn’t even been listening to that song. BUT I DID!!!
they change the game with that Poison. plus thats where i started beating up my desk in school doing that drum beat lol
That Poison beat is one of my favorites
Hearing these dudes singing motown Philly is just too dope. Speaks to just how great 90s R&B really was, the artists, The groups and music are timeless. We need to hear more R&B singers/groups and producers on these platforms. Teddy Riley next up yeah?!
Seeing Bigga singing along is dope...
this was a whole vibe, plenty summers and bbqs and talent shows, you had to be there fam!!!
Saw New Edition, Fat Boys and Whodini in Tampa in 1985 at the long gone Curtis Hixon Hall. Great show from what I remember!
'HIP-HOP .. SMOOTH OUT .. ON A R&B TIP .. WITH DA POP APPEAL .. TO IT' ..
The culture doesn’t treat the surprise success of BBD like the monumental moment it was in hip hop and R&B…..
I don't know if you realize... But this is CLASSIC MATERIAL!!!!💯👍🏿✊🏿 #MathHoffa
Smile Again, I do need You are & Something in your eyes are still in my R&B Music rotation. and of course Poison is That Move. Mike telling some great stories

This show is killing it
I remember BBD performed Poison on a New Years Eve show the year it rang off. My older cousin lost his mind in my Aunties living room 😂
The biggest anticipated project in my 50 years of life they premiered Poison video on video Soul and the radio and retail was overloaded with requests and boom 💥🧨💣..History
Poison was a game changer. I’m glad they have that legendary track to their credit. Biv is the man
Used to say wassup to him in Hawthorne when he slide through the city. He was always cool and would wave back.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ BBD❤❤❤ the best times in my life was set to you’ll music! Nobody ever talks about… is this the end!!! Favorite new edition song❤❤
CERTIFIED CLASSIC INTERVIEW!
Yo Math and company is killin the net.
"Feel like I'm Loosen Control and I don't eventually know..."
That era was pure 🔥…He had to cringe on that harmony tho 😂
Mike Biv has always been cool... It's good to hear him giving up some history... bring on the whole interview...
Poison’s beat is one of the greatest beats in the history of R&B and hip hop history, simple but effective!
That Poison album is a treasure. So many classic songs!
Man this an instant block buster episode short 🍾
I still listen to that song & it's #2023
A Legend!!!
I will never forget...Chillin in the living room with a group of my dudes waiting on the premiere song/ video...We just knew it was going to be trash....After the video played it was silence....My boy then said "that sh.....t was cold." ....History was made!!!
I fell off for a bit math...this interview put me back on..all the clips...can't wait for the full interview
If you look at when BBD came out it was positioned perfectly. They basically kicked the door down in the beginning of 1990(Feb/Mar)..really starting the decade with a sound that hadn't been heard before. The way "Poison" hits you musically is the same way that their entrance into the music scene hit the world..no one expected the background singers of New Edition to come like this. It was crazy! They influenced the entire 90's R&B scene by setting the tone with their release within the first couple months of the decade! They deserve their flowers!
Thank you so much nobody ever gives New Edition the shine they should have been had from everbody !!! My Moma had The Temptations and I had New Edition... I will love them all my life, every girl who grew up in the new Edition era knows every lyric to EVERY song they ever song... I'M A NEW EDITION GIRL LIVING IN A CANDY GIRL WORLD !!
This probably the best interview
I remember as a kid when we used to dance to bbd poison running man dance steps and shuffle jump and dance moves , good ole classic smash called poison took over the world dance floors with a bang we watched it on television and it was steady on rotation on radio and older guys put us on that shit good
I’ve Never seen Biggah this happy!! 😂😂😂💯💯💯 🫡
Bell Biv DeVoe represented and Era in music that made it a great time to be alive. Great times great memories!
I'M LOVING THESE DETAILS!!!! IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING ABOUT THOSE RECORDS!! I HOPE HE TELLS THE BUSTA RHYMES INVOLVEMENT; I AIN'T GONNA SPOIL IT!!

Track 15 on last meal got me thru my divorce real talk

#mathhoffa I love your platform!! Everyone black knows how important the barbra shop was and still is so important to the black community. So do this interview in a barbra shop is awesome!! My grandfather had no sons. My mother was his only child. So on the weekends when my grandpop would go to the shop to get his hair cut he would take me and my sister😊. Years later when i had the first boy in the family he would take him to the shop too!!😊. As a little girl I learned a lot. My dad wasn't in my life as a child but my pop pop and the shop was. I know it helped shape me as a woman later in life. Married for 22 years😊
