Made a great choice trying out a local carenderia, which is basically a mom-and-pop canteen operation. Please try using your utensils the Filipino way, i.e., using your SPOON (instead of the fork) to scoop up rice and viand. Filipinos use the fork only to push food onto the spoon, or jab the fork into meat and vegetables. Then also please try out the silog meals in more upscale restos for better quality meats. Enjoy!

Welcome! quick tip, most Filipino dishes are eaten with spoon and fork used in tandem. You basically combine a bit of the protein/vegetable with the rice on the spoon. Also, always bring bottled water / drinks or order it when you're eating outside, just to keep your tummies happy. the tap water has an after taste most people don't really like. enjoy!

National Museums (Allot at least a day to visit these museums, you will almost visit the whole Philippines going here.) 1.1 National Museum of Fine Arts 1.2 National Museum of Natural History 1.3 Museum of Anthropology 2. Filipinos love their food sweet. Love that you’re doing things the local way eg. eating at a cafeteria style resto and taking public transportation. It’s not as glamorous but you’re experiencing the real Filipino life and saving a lot of money in the process. Have fun in the Philippines!

After living in europe and americas and marrying a filipina for 12 years, I can say that the Philippines is preferable to any other country on the planet. People and culture, food options, cost of living, freedom and safety, and nature are all better than in any other country. I can hardly wait to retire in that country.

great video! food pro tip: you can't really order Filipino food as you would order food in most western and Asian countries. For instance in Thailand, most dishes usually have most of the macros (protein, carbs, fiber, fat) in a single plate; whereas in the Philippines, we eat mostly ala family style dining wherein the macros are segregated in different plates and dishes. so if you order tapa or tocino, make sure to order rice, maybe a side of egg and veggies for the complete experience. Also, don't forget to make the all-purpose Filipino sauce (soy-sauce with vinegar, calamansi and red chili). They have this in most carinderias. "Carinderias" in the Philippines is crazy cheap anyway so you could do this in an affordable price. Watching you eat just straight up rice and tapa kinda made me sad lol, thats why I thought I had to comment this. I think this is why PH food tourism is not as good as other SEA countries. Its just not very foreigner friendly. And servers don't recommend anything most of the time. My recommendation would be: if you are going to coron or el nido. Dont do the boat tours that thousands of people do. do a 3-5 day island expedition, where they take you to the most and least touristy parts of palawan. The feeling of seclusion and exploration is amazing. They also cook you the most amazing food. Plus! you get to camp on different islands for 3-5 days! I love my silogs, if that's the only i eat on some breakfast. My favorite is jollibee's cornsilog (cornbeef) there are no side dishes or viggies and i'm totally satisfied with that.🤗

Filipino food are usually sweet and spicy or sweet and salty...That's a legacy from the last years of Spanish occupation, when the sugar industry had been booming. Sugar was the main commodity and was so cheap, so people learned to use them for many dishes.

Also Boracay island, the best beach in all of asia and the number 1 leisure beach in the world according to a popular tourist magazine.
