We Found TONS of Aquamarine Beryl, Black Tourmaline, and Rose Quartz at Hogg Mine in Georgia!
I am so excited to finally have gotten back to Hogg Mine in Lagrange, GA for a second time! The first time I went to Hogg Mine, I found tons of Black Tourmaline, some Rose Quartz, and NO BERYL! I couldn't handle that I didn't find any great pieces of Beryl the first time, so this time I really focused hard on finding the Beryl!

Kyle: Very nice video. I have just one technical comment (can’t help it as I am a geologist⚒😀). You refer to the host rock of the minerals being collected as being part of a lava flow. A lava flow is an extrusive flow of igneous material on land or sea floor surfaces. The material you are collecting is from deeper, slow cooling (hence the crystals) magmatic origins later exposed by uplift and erosion. You are most likely collecting from pegmatitic zones in an ancient silicic pluton or batholith.

Would be happy to send you some raw and tumbled pieces. Not sure that FL has much septarian, if any, but you’d find them along Cretaceous Period formations, since it’s both a fossil and semi-precious gemstone. 🤙🏼

The stones are really beautiful. But, I kind of cracked up, when you said it was "freezing cold". I think "freezing cold" in Florida would be a warm to cool day in Pennsylvania, where I'm from. Lol. You made me think of when my fiancé said, that he was "frigging freezing", when the temperature was in the low 60's. He was born & raised in southern California. And, he totally couldn't understand how I could sit outside, when it was only 30 degrees and not complain about it being freezing. Lol.

Thanks for another video! What do you make with them and/or how do you display them?
@WILDKYLE

I don't really make anything with them. I have displayed my favorite pieces on a shelf along with some fossils!
This is not a lava flow you are digging in. This is aluvial scree and everything you are showing us has been removed from its matrix, but has not been worn smooth by water. So where is the living rock formation that all this stuff came from?
There is a ton of Cat's Eye Aquamarine/Beryl at Hogg Mine
Do you tumble these rocks? How do you use them?
so, what do you do with that stuff. jewelry, etc????
Quick question Kyle, do you cut and polish those beautiful blue specimens or leave them as is? I can imagine that lining a gorgeous Bentwood ring or Pendant.

You could read books. Research it. Write about it. You can't rely on others to do something for you in life. If you're just going to wait. Then, nothing will go your way. You control your destiny. Did Albert Einstein, Teddy Roosevelt, Alan Turing, President 5-star General Supreme Commander Dwight D Eisenhower, Abraham Lincoln, President Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, George Washington, MLK, JFK, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Conan (Harvard grad to show host right now) , Confucius, Socrates, Sir Issac Newton, Plato, Darwin, and Leif Erikson etc. wait for things to happen? Nope! If you want something , go get it. I mean, I love all of that. Physics, meteorology, geography, history, the whole nine yards. Don't just comment about this shit. Its just downright stupid. Figure it out dude.

Go to college and study those topics like : Geology ( mineralogy is a sub category of it) , Archaeology, Chemistry. One video isn't going to do anything bud. Now me, I'm going to college after high school to community college for my associates in nursing to then, attain both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in the same likeness. To become a pain management nurse. Whom, will make over 100k while other people will only make 45-60k.

Not for sale I'm sorry!
Hey btw this sort of mineralization doesn't occur in volcanoes. What you're mining is most likely a decomposed pegmatite. Pegmatite is igneous, but forms as an intrusion into metamorphic rock and cools very very slowly. Such slow rates of cooling aren't possible at the surface where volcanoes form
@noahk3794

cooled magma, not cooled lava.
Hey could you tell me a good place to find fossils
I saw the comment/question below about polishing/cabbing or turning the stone in jewelry, and your response that you like to keep them in the form that you found them. So what is the end game there? Do you have buckets and shelves or display cases around your house with all the stuff that sits there for the next decade? Do you sell your findings to those who do lapidary work? I ask because I rock hound some myself and I cut and polish some myself too, but I am having the issue of running out of space and not being able to enjoy all the specimens that I find and keep house around. Also a good polish can bring out additional beauty of the stone. Want to know if the Beryl you found is typically used in jewelry or cut stones and has value for such?
@WILDKYLE
3 жыл бұрын
I typically keep my favorite pieces in my collection and display them. I have a bunch of stuff I do with items I don't keep. I put some on my eBay store, I send some to my Patreon supporters, and I give lots away to my friends. I should have specified I like the beryl as I find it. When I find things like agatized coral I like to clean them up, and cut the geodes, and have the edges polished.
