Hey y'all! A lot of you are asking why there are so many marbles in this creek, so rather than respond to each comment I'm going to pin this one. Unfortunately a lot of creeks were used for dumps in the past, which is of course why we find so many bottles in this creek too. I think the main reason there are so many marbles is because they ended up dumped with the bottles and other trash. Some may have arrived simply by kids playing marbles along the creek.

Some of the reason is that there are millions out there. Marbles were SO mass produced from the mid 1800s on. Even in the 1970s when I was a kid, every one of us children had a bag of marbles or a jar of them and our parents still had theirs from their own childhood. Popular toy for decades and inexpensive.

As a kid my brother & I would get a bag of marbles each for Christmas , birthdays, ect... My mother would get tired of finding them all over the house & warn us they'd be thrown in the trash . And ultimately most of them were thrown out or lost . Like most places in the rural areas there were illegal dumps & my folks used it often . Why so many marbles are found in creeks goes back to where these dumps were .. Always in a hollow , or steep bank where a creek runs at the bottom.

I just have to say, I know exactly how you feel. I found a bird point one time in Pennsylvania one time and I wasn’t even looking for it, I looked down and there it was, and I was the first person to touch it since it was lost, or shot at a bird, or any other scenario you can think of. It made me feel so proud to have found it. However I did not keep it, I took it to the local historical society and gave it to them with information on where I found it, and felt proud to have done that as well. We are Blessed to have come across these relics and to be proud to felt it in our hands and our hearts……. Peace Brother.

💕🙏👍❤Great finds all around. What a magnificent point. To think of someone finding the stone and chipping away at it to make something that was both functional and beautiful. Wow!
