I made an insulated house for a stray that seems to have adopted us. I took a large waterproof storage container and a smaller container inside it surrounded by Styrofoam insulation and cut the cat door through. Put some small blankets inside then placed it in a roofed over enclosure outside so it's really weatherproofed well. I'm really more of a dog person but this cat is pretty cool. He runs from everyone else but comes straight up to me. He deserves a house just for that!

I did something similar for all our outside farm dogs and the cats loved sleeping in there with them on cold nights. I insulated it and put rugs on the walls and a removable one on the floor so we could replace it when it got dirty. Hilarious watching 4 dogs and 8 cats coming out single file all stretching in the morning knowing they had to be in a big pile in there just to fit. 😂😂

For being non professional. You too did an excellent job along with all your helpers ,it looks really nice. She's going to love it.😊

The one I built is 18x30 inside. It's got a front and back window with insulation in the walls, floor and ceiling. Its got a really dim inside light so I can check on her. The front light on the front so she can watch the "neighbors" and what not. Ended up building a camera for facial recognition for it so it can shut the front door and open when she wants to leave. I also put a heated cat bed on the inside so she can stay warmer. It's got cedar siding and the roof is removable for cleaning. All in all throwing it together in a weekend was fun. Come this spring I may build her a nicer one. Something with a peaked roof and some gutters(because those are useful under a roof haha). Maybe I'll put a porch with columns on it too

i went with same rough dimensions but the cat wanted privacy front windows and led lighting. I used an anti fatigue mat cut out to match the heating pad and carpeted over the floor. roof is mid centry modern so its flat enough for her auto feeder and water dish.

No "questions or criticisms", just a GREAT JOB!!! Even a deck for for grilling salmon steaks!! 😊👍❤

Retired from driving a Caterpillar 740 offroad truck which my mom drove briefly one saturday in the gravel pit i worked at. Watching your mom climb up on the combine made me cry with pleasant memories. She passed 9yrs ago and it still sucks. Enjoy your mom, listen to the stories you've heard 50 times. There is a way to hide the screws - you can drill a deeper hole where the screw / nail is a little smaller but still holds everything together. You can then fill it with saw dust that is mixed with wood glue that covers the hole and then paint over it which is easiest way as saw dust would fit into any drilled hole than trying to cut a perfect small bit 😂 You can also get little bits from the hardware store to fill in holes to hide the fittings, so it's really about personal preference and how one likes to do it! 😊

Nice on the fly design. The cats will appreciate the fancy shelter. You put alot of together time into this video. It's good to see you working side by side & enjoying it.

I have a outdoor cat in Minnesota and temperatures are a lot colder 🥶 . My cat house is about 1/2 the size of yours and has 2 “ insulated floors, walls, and ceiling with a big warm blanket.

Hi jojo. I been watching you guys for a short time, I love your drive and spirit. Unlike you I can’t comprehend what you’ve been through, but I grew up on a dairy farm in the north east, with farming in my blood; me and my father couldn’t see eye to eye. No matter how hard I tried I finally succumbed to my biggest fear, I had to leave which finally ended in not only loosing my dream, but the dispersal of the family farm. Although I have found an alternative way to support my family I’m drawn to farming. Most days I dream of finding my way back. At the farm auction I struggled, it was like a funeral of a family member that everyone from the outside was excited to be at and win from the loss… to this day I can’t go to a auction. I’m so proud you got your found love in farming, it is a special place with a lot of sacrific !and lack of public gratefulness. A place I strive to be, but seems to be unattainable. Let me know if you guys ever are in need of a die hard loyal farm hand, I’ll gladly be that guy. Man I’d settle to be a ol farm cat that has such a caring heart looking after it. Thank you for everything you share with us.

I agree I have a spare bedroom that I would dedicate to JoJos beautiful cat any day!

We modified a fiberglass dog house for our strays. Put a 3" foam pD in the bottom and put a red flood light inside for heat. In sub zero Temps it says 65 in there. Plastic curtains.

Very impressive. I think you all did a wonderful job and it looks really good. Any cat should be proud to live in it or just spend a night or 12 while passing through.

I know how to improve it! All cats love to look at the world from above. So maybe a simple cat ladder and a spot for the house 2-4 meters from the ground would make it even more exiting. But so far nice job guys. 😊

Really love seeing how well you two work together. Pretty cool cat house. I would have put a door in the back or a trap door in the floor to make it easier to clean out, but that is the only thing I would do differently.

Nice job for sure. One big thing that people mess up on when building a dog or cat house. They want them to be comfortable right. Welllllll, not for outdoor ones. It needs to be just big enough for them to be able to turn around in. Reason being. It is their body heat that heats it up. So bigger space hurts them you could say. For my cow dog years ago that hated being in the house. She would sit at door and howl to be let out and walk out the door and lay down. I would stuff it about 3/4 full of hay. She would go it mush it around and make a door out of it to keep wind out.

❤Good job guys! For your next cat house, I suggest you take the flashing to a sheet-metal shop where they can use one of their presses to bend the flashing to just slightly less than 90*. Then when you go to screw it on, it won’t have a crinkly effect and will have a uniform finish. Just suggesting, you still did a great job! ❤

This looks amazing Jojo, her kitty's are going to love it. Hard to keep a timeline on these, but I wonder how her kitty's did in the recent blizzard. My only recommendation would be to get a thin roll of radiant barrier and tack it inside. That will insulate the cat house summer and winter. You know how you learn things right? Watch one, do one, teach one. You have now watched one and have it on film, you got this Jojo and you can incorporate some of the beautiful woodwork art that you and Kale used to do. Final observation, your dogs have a ball addiction. Hahaha, they were all up in there trying to get your attention.

Beautiful. I put metal edging around the tin to keep the moisture from seeping underneath and rotting the facer board's.

Best part is the cat in your way as you are trying to build this. Great vid..as always

Very spiffy cat mansion you two put together. Cats have their own way of doing things. Since my cat participated in putting together the people house that we share, I just added a cat door and called it good. Sometimes he uses his cat door and sometimes he insists I let him out the people door.

I listen to you mention y’all had done these type things before, I often encounter the same things when I’m with my significant other and it sometimes just overwhelms me to the point I can’t hide the feelings that are running through my mind. It’s very hard to deal with this type things as she is so understanding and take it all so well and I thank God for that or there is noway we could stay together.
